Another week of fantasy hockey is in the books, and if you’re looking for a boost in your team’s production, then you’ve come to the right place. Below I’ve listed a few free agent options that could be worth an add heading into the new week.
NHL Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Advice (Week 10)
(Rostership percentages courtesy of ESPN)
Patrik Laine (F – MTL) | 55.5% Rostered
If you haven’t heard the news, allow me to break it to you: LW Patrik Laine is back in action at the NHL level. The Montreal forward missed the first 24 games of the season with a knee injury, but he’s back in the mix for the Habs. He’s made an immediate impact, scoring a couple of power-play goals in his first two outings. The winger is averaging 3.0 shots on goal per game (SOG/G) in three games played, so he’s trying to make up for lost time.
Laine will slot in alongside C Kirby Dach and RW Juraj Slafkovsky on the second line, and this could be a dangerous trio for the Canadiens. With his veteran experience, Laine should continue to get plenty of offensive opportunities moving forward.
Rickard Rakell (F – PIT) | 43.2% Rostered
Pittsburgh RW Rickard Rakell is always a solid option to add to a fantasy roster if you need depth scoring. Honestly, simply being on a line with C Sidney Crosby has elevated his play and makes him a worthwhile add. Rakell is leading the Penguins in goals (11) and his 18 points are third on the team. He’s second in SOG (69), averaging 2.4 SOG/G. I don’t expect Rakell to log a 40-goal season, but maybe he hits the 30-goal mark, which makes him a solid piece to any roster.
Dylan Holloway (F – STL) | 10.1% Rostered
St. Louis LW Dylan Holloway has been lighting it up over the last week. Perhaps it’s due to head coach Jim Montgomery stepping in and getting him involved, or maybe it’s the trickle-down impact of Robert Thomas being back in the lineup. Regardless of the reason, Holloway is on fire, registering nine points (five goals, four assists) in his last six games. Holloway has quickly shot up the St. Louis scoring log, where he’s now second on the team in both scoring (nine goals, eight assists) and SOG (64).
Joonas Korpisalo (G – BOS) | 5.5% Rostered
Finally, I always like to round out this weekly piece with a goaltending suggestion. Many of the top-tier starters are snatched up at this point, but if you need a streaming option, Boston’s Joonas Korpisalo could be your man. He’s started nine of Boston’s 29 games (31%), but he’s been excellent when getting the nod. Korpisalo is 6-2-1 with a 2.40 GAA (sixth) and .909 SV% (16th). His two shutouts are third in the NHL.
With Jeremy Swayman (3.02 GAA, .893 SV%) still figuring things out, while also facing the tougher opponents, Korpisalo makes a nice streaming option if you need some extra points. On that note, make sure to check the starting goalies daily. There are guys like Jonathan Quick (26.7% rostered) and Jake Allen (10.1% rostered) who are widely available for streaming and could help push you across the finish line to secure a win.
