Fantasy Games Won: Who Won & Lost Week 14? (2024)

What do Ja’Marr Chase, Jonathan Taylor, Joe Mixon and Josh Allen have in common?

All four are in the top 20 players by total Fantasy Games Won (FGW) since the start of 2021. Allen is second after only Justin Jefferson, Chase is eighth, Taylor is 17th and Mixon is 19th. They all played the prime of their careers within an afternoon drive of Toledo, Ohio. Their first names all start with J. And, as of Week 14, they have all scored over 50 points in a half-PPR fantasy matchup.

What do Ja’Marr Chase, Jonathan Taylor, Joe Mixon and Josh Allen have in common?

With the monster game from Josh Allen, he also took Mixon’s title belt for the most fantasy points in a game since the start of 2021. He didn’t, however, set the record for Fantasy Games Won in a week, as the average quarterback still scores significantly more than the average running back, tempering the impact of Allen’s output.

Allen scored 0.47 FGW in Week 14, which means his fantasy teams had a 97% chance of winning (all else being equal). That’s only the second-best FGW week of the year; Ja’Marr Chase’s 49.9 points in Week 10 converted to 0.48 FGW and a 98% chance of winning for his owners.

Thanks to this Midwestern Mt. Rushmore, it’s time to rename the Midwest to Midway-to-100-Fantasys-Point-Land.

Fantasy Games Won (FGW)

Fantasy Games Won (FGW) is a statistic that converts fantasy points into fantasy wins. Players get positive FGW points for outscoring average fantasy starters and negative points for below-average scores.

A player can score up to +0.5 FGW for increasing your chances of winning from 50% to 100% or down to -0.5 for dropping your chances from 50% to 0%. Percent started matters – 0% started throttles your FGW down to zero.

What a week. This was the most prolific week of 2024, with a combined FGW of all players of 1.66, the highest of the year. It was also the first week since I started recording FGW in 2021 that we had three players scoring 0.40 or more in the same week.
2024 had such a rocky start I soft-retired the draft slot-adjusted FGW statistic for a few weeks. This was because after adjusting for draft slot, almost every relevant fantasy player was performing below expectations. Now I feel better about bringing that stat back when we get to awards season.
I have never gotten so much hate mail as when I claimed Ja’Marr Chase was more talented than Justin Jefferson. With how the season is going, I’m starting to think fantasy football historians will look back on my claim favorably. Chase is giving Saquon Barkley a late push for regular season fantasy MVP (Barkley’s at 2.02 FGW for the year, Chase is now up to 1.88). With respect to Tyreek Hill, Chase is cranking out big games at a rate we haven’t seen since the last time the Notre Dame Cathedral was open for visitors. He’s at the level where your weekly team score projections look like a typo because your non-quarterback projects to score more than 20.
That 2018 NFL Draft quarterback class is looking better than ever. Josh Allen just had the best quarterback week of the decade, Sam Darnold nearly laid down a 40-burger, Baker Mayfield is started in over 50% of leagues and Lamar Jackson is only off the weekly winners list because of a bye week. Be right back, going to pick up Josh Rosen for when Anthony Richardson gets hurt on my work league team.
I wish more fantasy managers had been ready to pop open a bottle of Zach Charbonnet Sunday morning. Maybe he was only stutter-stepping in Week 3 to shake off Mimosa sweats.
Chase Brown has been averaging 16.49 points over his last 10 games. You probably already knew that, though. His percentage started is up to 98%. The people are confident in Chase Brown.

Lots of donuts in Week 14. Somehow, Breece Hall and George Pickens were both started in a third of leagues despite fantasy managers having plenty of time to pull them out. Jayden Reed had no reason to be pulled out before game time, and now his managers have to drown their sorrows in boxes of donuts. I wonder if I can find a Wisconsin donut shop that delivers to fantasy managers in New England.
Is it strange to anyone else that D’Andre Swift is still started in 58% of leagues? Maybe the reason he’s not down in the 30% range is we have a lot of teams giving up early. I’m not referring to the Bears, I meant fantasy teams giving up.
Have Deebo Samuel managers given up on him? His percentage started finally dropped from 85% in Week 12 to under 60% in the last two weeks.
Six touchdowns for the Bills on Sunday — three of them rushing. Only one had to go to James Cook for him to have a good fantasy day. Alas.

Justin Jefferson managers may want to avert their eyes, given what could have been in Week 14 if Jordan Addison didn’t go nuts.
The fact Jalen McMillan exists gave me the urge to search for any fun interactions between Jalen Rose and Nate McMillan. According to Google AI, “Rose once teased McMillan about his haircut during a game, and McMillan later told his wife about it.” Setting aside the fact I have serious questions about how AI knows about the conversations between Nate McMillan and his wife, a story like that is a pretty good use of AI. Nice one, Google.
It was just last week I declared the end of the Chuba Hubbard getting-started era. Not only was I wrong, but I may have unintentionally inspired someone to bust out a Jonathon Brooks voodoo doll.

Joshy-Washy Doesn’t Need a Running Back, a Healthy Tight End, or Even a Ball

For all typical fantasy football leagues, Week 15 is either the first week of the fantasy playoffs or it’s a de facto playoff week as teams squeeze into four playoff spots.
