Thursday Night Football was entertaining. The contest was competitive, and while the Lions felt like they were in control all game, there was still enough drama to keep it interesting. On offense, Josh Jacobs, Christian Watson, Jahmyr Gibbs, and Tim Patrick turned the most heads. On the IDP side of things, Za’Darius Smith extended his sack streak to two games while Isaiah McDuffie and Quay Walker racked up the tackles for the Packers. Looking ahead to this weekend, we will take a look at five players fantasy managers should do their best to plug into their lineups and five others who are better left on benches despite promising upside. Let’s dig in.
Fantasy Football IDP Start/Sit Week 14
Start em
Christian Rozeboom (LB – LAR)
Rozeboom was at again in Week 13, reeling off seven solos, five assists, one tackle for loss, and one pass defended. Rozeboom has been on fire for the Rams and has quickly become an IDP star over the last four weeks. Rozeboom has emerged as an easy LB2 play, including this week, despite the tough matchup against the Buffalo Bills. Start Rozeboom everywhere.
Jordan Hicks (LB – CLE)
Hicks was at it again in Week 13, racking up five solos and seven assists against the Denver Broncos. Hicks is heating up for the Browns and has an excellent opportunity at another strong outing thanks to a plus matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday afternoon. Start Hicks with confidence as a LB2.
Leonard Williams (DT/DE – SEA)
Revenge is so sweet. Leonard Williams went absolutely bonkers on the team that drafted him, exploding for three solos, one assist, two sacks, three tackles for loss, one blocked kick, one interception, one pass defended, and one touchdown. Williams was a disappointment with just two sacks through his first 11 weeks of action. Over his last two weeks he has posted 4.5 sacks, six tackles for loss, and, of course, the pick six and the blocked kick. Williams is an easy DL2 play while he is cooking. Start him everywhere for Week 14 despite the neutral-at-best matchup against the Arizona Cardinals.
Chris Jones (DT/DE – KC)
Chris Jones was excellent in Week 13, tallying three solos, three assists, two sacks, and two tackles for loss. Jones is up to five sacks on the season, but these were his first QB takedowns since back in Week 4. Name equity, and a history of game-wrecking production keep him in the DT1 mix, but Jones is more DL2/3 than DL1/2 outside of great matchups. Fortunately for fantasy managers, he has a string of those, continuing with the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday night, who also coincidentally happen to be the team he had his other two sack game against back in the aforementioned Week 4. Fire Jones up as a borderline DL1 for Week 14.
Tyler Nubin (S – NYG)
Nubin was excellent in Week 13, tallying five solos, seven assists, and one tackle for loss. Nubin has caught fire for the Giants and can safely be counted as a DB2 option for Week 14 despite the tough on-paper matchup against the New Orleans Saints.
Sit em
Payton Wilson (LB – PIT)
Payton Wilson showed up in Week 13, tallying one solo, two assists, two fumble recoveries, and one touchdown. Wilson relied on splash plays to produce in this one, but it is notable that he has played over 50 percent of the snaps in consecutive weeks. Wilson is worth a bench stash but should not sniff starting lineups, even in a heavy bye.
B.J. Hill (DT – CIN)
B.J. Hill showed up in Week 13, racking up four solos, two assists, one sack, and two tackles for loss. Hill has been quiet in the IDP realm this season, as this was his first sack of the season. He has shown some promise in the solo department, so if he starts to heat up, he will become an immediate DT2 option. For now though, Hill belongs glued to benches or left on waiver wires. Look elsewhere for your Week 14 DL3/4.
Yaya Diaby (DE/LB – TB)
Yaya was excellent in Week 13, tallying five solos, one assist, one tackle for loss, and one fumble recovery. This was his highest tackle count of the season, but it is encouraging to see these numbers without any sacks being involved. Still, Diaby is more DL5 than DL4 for Week 14 and should be left on benches where possible despite the plus Week 14 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Justin Reid (S – KC)
Reid was solid in Week 13, tallying four solos, two assists, one tackle for loss, and two passes defended. Reid has flashed at times this season and is a solid DB3 option for those who find themself in a bye week pinch for Week 14. He does have a tough on-paper matchup and should be avoided where possible.
Chamarri Conner (S/CB – KC)
Chamarri was at it again in Week 13, tallying six solos, one assist, and one forced fumble. Chmarru has been hit or miss but has provided some massive spike weeks that has put him in the CB1/DB3 mix. Treat him as a DB4 for a tough on-paper matchup against a Los Angeles Chargers team he struggled for production against earlier this season. Look elsewhere for your Week 14 DB3.
