2025 NFL Draft Scouting Report: Kenneth Grant

Kenneth Grant (DL – Michigan)

6-foot-3 | 339 Pounds

Background

A four-star recruit out of Indiana, Kenneth Grant totaled 104 snaps and eight tackles as a freshman before rotating in heavily the following season (403 snaps and five starts), ending the year with a 29-5.0-3.5 line. Grant had a 32-7.0-3.0 line over 547 snaps this year as of the end of the regular season.

Positives

One of the biggest interior linemen in this year’s class, and one of the rarest athletes in this year’s class, receiving recognition on Bruce Feldman’s “Freaks” list. Primarily plays the one- and zero-techniques as Michigan’s nose tackle. Very much a handful to deal with, and consequently draws a lot of attention from opposing offensive lines. Easily anchors at the line, and can even hold up against double teams.

Grant is active in sifting through trash and preventing opponents from getting into his pads. Good alertness to locate the football. Shows heavy hands to discard blockers when it’s time to make a stop. Shows good build-up speed when in pursuit, with a solid motor for such a big man. Grant played a high number of snaps for such a big man and was often left on the field on obvious passing downs; rotations often looked series-based rather than situational.

When Grant fires out and works his bull-rush he often overwhelms single opponents, showing good intensity and leg drive to collapse the pocket. Not a one-trick pony on passing downs; mixes up his approach and knows how to use his hands. Has some lateral quickness to slide into open rushing lanes. Effectively contests passing lanes.

Negatives

Grant’s weight has fluctuated between 339 and 360 pounds, so conditioning could be something to look into, although he reportedly tests just as well at the higher end of that spectrum. Can sometimes be a bit of a leaner; would like to see him keep a stable base under himself more consistently. Can be a guesser. When he loses gap discipline, he lacks the lateral quickness to get back in the play.

Would like to see Grant commit to his bull-rush move more consistently in the passing game; can get a little too cute for someone with his physical tools. Does work in swim moves when he tries to skinny through gaps, but didn’t have a ton of success with those during the games I reviewed.

Summary

A “world theory” type of prospect who has all of the power you’d expect for someone with his size, but who is also more athletic than usual and is expected to test very well at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Although the draft is somewhat loaded with interior defensive linemen, Grant still stands a good shot of coming off the board sometime within the first couple of rounds as a potential three-down nose tackle in either an even or an odd front.

The Michigan lineman should be able to make an early impact because of his dominant physical tools, having shown the ability to use his bull-rush move to easily overpower most opponents one-on-one.

Projection: Round 2
