Week 11 is now in the books. There are numerous storylines to track, but perhaps the most significant is the overlooked IDP players who showed out in Week 11. There were a lot of defensive fireworks in Week 11, so there are more than a few intriguing names on the waiver wire in leagues of all sizes. Let’s take a look at some of the names that may be worth some of your free agent budget.
Week 12 IDP Waiver Wire
Linebacker
Kenneth Murray (LB – TEN):: 5% rostered on Yahoo
Murray was excellent in Week 11, racking up five solos, five assists, one sack, and one tackle for loss. Murray had quieted down a bit after a strong start to the season, but could be turning the corner just in time for the six team Week 12 bye. Add and start Murray where needed as an LB3 with easy LB2 upside.
Devin Bush (LB – CLE): 0% rostered on Yahoo
Bush showed up again in Week 11, tallying six solos, two assists, and two tackles for loss. Bush is heating up for the Browns and just in time for a heavy bye. He has recorded six or more solos in each of his last two games, a feat he had accomplished just once prior to Week 9. Bush has always had high level talent; he just has been unable to put together lengthy stretches of consistent IDP production. Ride with him while he is hot. Start him as an LB3 option for Week 12 where needed. Make the add where available.
Anthony Walker (LB – MIA): 0% rostered on Yahoo
Walker showed up again in Week 11, racking up six solos and four assists. He has provided LB2 level value in two consecutive weeks and should be leaned on where needed with a heavy bye on the docket. He is more of a depth piece outside of bye weeks but can also be deployed as injury depth as needed. Tap Walker as an upside LB3 for a plus Week 12 matchup against the New England Patriots.
Cody Barton (LB – DEN): 3% rostered on Yahoo
Barton showed up in Week 11, tallying three solos, one assist, one interception, and one pass defended. Barton has been much more inconsistent than expected this season but is still able to provide splash weeks for fantasy managers. Barton is more of an LB4 option in normal circumstances but can be trusted as an LB3 option for Week 12, thanks to six teams being on bye and to a plus matchup against the lowly Las Vegas Raiders. Add and start Barton where feasible.
Blake Cashman (LB – MIN): 3% rostered on Yahoo
Cashman showed up in Week 11, racking up two solos, two assists, one sack, and one tackle for loss. While the solo tackle production has not been there since Cashman returned from injury, he does have a sack in both games, putting him at three on the season. Fire Cashman up as an LB2/3 option for Week 12, with the knowledge that the solo production will pick up sooner or later.
Defensive Line
Pat Jones (DE/LB – MIN): 0% rostered on Yahoo
Jones showed up in Week 11, going off with four solos, one assist, two sacks, and three tackles for loss. Jones is now up to seven sacks on the season and needs to be taken seriously again. His first five sacks all came in the first four weeks of the season, but now that he is back on the sack sheet and has another plus matchup on tap for a heavy bye, Jones should be rostered in all competitive leagues. Treat Jones as DL2/3 as needed for a plus Week 12 matchup against the Chicago Bears. Make the add where available.
Odafe Oweh (DE/LB – BAL): 0% rostered on Yahoo
Oweh showed up in Week 11, racking up three solos, two assists, 2.5 sacks, and two tackles for loss. Now up to seven sacks on the season, Oweh can safely be treated as an elite DL3 option for the heavy Week 12 bye. Fire him up with confidence for the plus matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. Make the add where needed.
Nik Bonitto (DE/LB – DEN): 0% rostered on Yahoo
Bonitto has been excellent for Denver this season, most recently tallying four solos, three assists, two sacks, and two tackles for loss. Bonitto has quietly amassed nine sacks through 11 contests and has recorded at least one QB takedown in eight of his last nine games. All nine of his sacks have come in that nine game stretch. Treat Bonitto as a DL2 option for Week 12, thanks both to his strong play and a plus matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Kwity Paye (DE – IND): 2% rostered on Yahoo
Paye was at it again in Week 11, racking up six solos, one assist, two sacks, two tackles for loss, and one forced fumble. Paye is now up to 5.5 sacks on the season, with four of them coming in his last three games. Paye can be trusted as a DL2/3 option for Week 12, thanks both to his recent production and the heavy bye week. Add and start Paye where needed.
Tuli Tuipulotu (DE/LB – LAC): 2% rostered on Yahoo
Tuli continues to impress for the Chargers. He went off on Sunday night, recording two solos, three assists, 1.5 sacks, and two tackles for loss. Tuli now has seven sacks on the season, with all seven coming in his last four games. Tuli has bull rushed his way into the DL1 conversation and will stay there until he cools down. Treat him as a top-12 option for an exciting Week 12 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens.
Defensive Back
Kamren Kinchens (S – LAR): 0% rostered on Yahoo
Kinchens showed up in Week 11, tallying six solos, two assists, one tackle for loss, one forced fumble, one interception, and one pass defended. Kinchens has had splash weeks in two of his last three games thanks to interceptions, recording two in Week 9 before the one pick this week. Kinchens is pushing for an expanded role and could be featured down the stretch due to his playmaking ability. Whatever the case, Kinchens makes for a solid DB3/4/flex option for Week 12 due to his recent production. Add and start him as needed.
Chamarri Conner (S/CB – KC): 5% rostered on Yahoo
Chamarri exploded in Week 11, tallying seven solos, one assist, one tackle for loss, one interception, and one pass defended. Chamarri has had some massive spike weeks out of the slot for the Chiefs and should continue to be treated as a CB1 option. He is too inconsistent to trust as a DB2 for Week 12, even with the heavy bye, but makes for a strong DB3 option where needed. Add and start Conner where available.
Geno Stone (S – CIN): 1% rostered on Yahoo
Geno Stone was excellent in Week 11, tallying eight solos, one assist, and one fumble recovery. Stone hasn’t quite lived up to expectations after coming over from the division rival Baltimore Ravens, as Stone, as a backup and injury replacement, was second in the NFL with seven interceptions. Stone makes for a solid depth option but will need to be stashed through the bye. Tap Stone as a DB3/4/flex option for a plus Week 13 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Harrison Smith (S – MIN): 5% rostered on Yahoo
Smith showed up in Week 11, tallying three solos, one interception, and two passes defended. Smith has been solid this season and makes for a strong DB3 option outside of the bye weeks, especially in deeper leagues. He can be tapped as a DB2/3 option for Week 12, thanks to a plus matchup against the Chicago Bears. Add Harrison where possible.
Javon Bullard (S/CB – GB): 1% rostered on Yahoo
Bullard was excellent in Week 11, racking up six solos and two assists. Bullard played ENTER HERE percent of the snaps and should continue to see a healthy diet of snaps since he is playing out of the slot for Green Bay. He has a lower floor at nickel than he would as a free safety, but getting on the field is what matters the most for now. Start Bullard with confidence for Week 12, thanks to a plus matchup against the San Francisco 49ers.
