Week 10 IDP Waiver Wire Pickups (2024 Fantasy Football)

Week 9 is now in the books. There are numerous storylines to track, but perhaps the most significant is the overlooked IDP players who showed out in Week 9. There were a lot of defensive fireworks in Week 9, so there are more than a few intriguing names on the waiver wire in leagues of all sizes. Let’s take a look at some of the names that may be worth some of your free agent budget.

Week 10 IDP Waiver Wire

Linebacker

Trenton Simpson (LB – BAL): 6% rostered by Yahoo
Simpson was excellent in Week 9, racking up seven solos, two assists, one sack, two tackles for loss, and one pass defended. Simpson has been a bust as far as IDP is concerned but has started to pick things up over the last few weeks. He has recorded four or more solos in two of his last three games and five or more in two. Trenton has at least one tackle for loss in each of those games and, of course, the sack. He is back on the LB3 map and should be treated as one for Thursday Night Football against the Cincinnati Bengals. Make the add where needed.

Daiyan Henley (LB – LAC): 4% rostered by Yahoo
Henley was at it again in Week 9, this time notching eight solos, six assists, one tackle for loss, and one pass defended. Henley has been inconsistent but has been awfully impressive in his spike weeks. Henley has recorded six or more solos in four of his eight games and four or more in seven of eight. Treat Henley as an LB2 with LB1 upside going forward. Make the add everywhere.

Jahlani Tavai (LB – NE): 2% rostered by Yahoo
Tavai was excellent in Week 9, racking up six solos, five assists, one tackle for loss, one interception, and one pass defended. Tavai has had more valleys than peaks this season, but this performance puts him back on radars for a heavy bye. Tavai has started every game this season, so he is never lacking opportunity and can be counted as a LB3/4 option for Week 10. Add Tavai where needed ahead of a plus matchup against the Chicago Bears.

Devin Bush (LB – CLE): 0% rostered by Yahoo
Bush showed up in Week 9, racking up six solos, two assists, one sack, and one tackle for loss. He has played over 80 percent of the snaps just three times this season but has at least eight combined tackles in each of those contests. He could see starter-level snaps again this week if Jordan Hicks misses another contest and could get the tap over Mohamoud Diabate after his Week 9 performance. Bush is a speculative add while we await word on who will be starting for Week 10. Make the add where feasible.

Pete Werner (LB – NO): 1% rostered by Yahoo
Werner was excellent in Week 9, racking up six solos, two assists, and one tackle for loss. Werner has been on fire since returning from injury, registering six or more solos and one more tackles for loss in each of the two games. Werner has flashed LB1 upside before, so plug him into lineups as an LB2 option while he is cooking. Add and start Werner everywhere ahead of a plus Week 10 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons.

Defensive Line

Tuli Tuipulotu (DE/LB – LAC): 1% rostered by Yahoo
Tuli went off in Week 9, exploding for five solos, one assist, 2.5 sacks, and one tackle for loss. Tuli has started to heat up for the Chargers and should be a regular on pass rushing downs going forward. He has 3.5 sacks on the season, with all of them coming in his last two games. Tap him as a DL3 option for a plus Week 10 matchup against the Tennessee Titans.

Dante Fowler (DE/LB – WAS): 8% rostered by Yahoo
Fowler showed up in Week 9, racking up three solos, three assists, two sacks, two tackles for loss, and one forced fumble. Fowler started the season slow but has caught fire since Week 5, a span in which he has recorded six of his 6.5 sacks on the season. After this week, he now has at least one sack in four of his last five games. Fowler is an easy DL2 with DL1 upside as long as he is cooking and should be rostered universally. Add and start Fowler everywhere ahead of a plus Week 10 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Jonathan Greenard (DE/LB – MIN): 8% rostered by Yahoo
Greenard showed up in Week 9, tallying two solos, two sacks, two tackles for loss, and one pass defended. Now up to seven sacks, Greenard is on pace to set a new career high in his first season with the Vikings. Continue to treat him as a DL2 option ahead of a neutral at best Week 10 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Add Greenard wherever available.

Josh Sweat (DE/DL – PHI): 2% rostered by Yahoo
Sweat put in work in Week 9, reeling off three solos, two assists, two sacks, two tackles for loss, and one pass defended. Sweat has started to cook for the Eagles and has now recorded at least one sack in four of his last five games. We have no choice but to treat him as a DL2 while he is on fire despite being south of 70 percent of the snaps before this weekend. Act accordingly. Add and start Sweat wherever needed.

Khalil Mack (DE/LB – LAC): 7% rostered by Yahoo
Mack was excellent in Week 9, notching two solos, two assists, one sack, two tackles for loss, and one forced fumble. Mack has just 4.5 sacks on the season but now has at least one sack in each of his last two games. Fire Mack up as an upside DL3 option while he is feeling it. Add and start him where needed ahead of a tasty Week 10 matchup against the Tennessee Titans.

Defensive Back

Kamren Kinchens (S – LAR): 0% rostered by Yahoo
Kinchens exploded in Week 9, tallying three solos, two interceptions, two passes defended, and one touchdown on 51 percent of the snaps. His snaps have been erratic this season, but this performance definitely earned him an expanded role going forward. He played at the expense of Kam Curl, who saw just 50 percent of the snaps, and the veteran has not quite lived up to expectations this season. Kinchens is more of deep league speculative stash target but is someone who could pay huge dividends down the stretch if he wrestles away the starting gig. Add Kinchens where possible as a DB3 stash.

Jeremy Chinn (S – WAS): 1% rostered by Yahoo
Chinn showed up in Week 9, racking up seven solos, six assists, two tackles for loss, and one pass defended against the New York Giants. Chinn has been maddeningly inconsistent this season and is still more DB3 than DB2, but outings like these highlight his DB1 talent and upside. Chinn should be rostered in all competitive leagues ahead of a plus Week 10 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Make the add where needed.

Demani Richardson (S – CAR): 0% rostered by Yahoo
Demani was electric again in Week 9, this time notching eight solos, four assists, and one pass defended. Richardson only got the tap due to a rash of injuries, but his performances suggest that the Panthers would be remiss not to give him an extended look as they start to close the books on what will likely turn out to be another lost season. Add Demani as a DB3 with easy DB2 upside ahead of a plus Week 10 matchup against the New York Giants.

Damar Hamlin (S – BUF): 8% rostered by Yahoo
Hamlin was excellent in Week 9, tallying eight solos and two assists. Hamlin’s strong play has been one of the feel-good stories of the NFL season, and he shows no signs of slowing down. Hamlin has been inconsistent in the solo department but managed to snag two picks in two of his down weeks, helping boost him to DB1 numbers for the season. He is still better to view as a DB2, but there is no denying his production. Tap Hamlin as a top-20 option for a plus Week 10 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts.

Alohi Gilman (S – LAC): 4% rostered by Yahoo
Gilman showed up in Week 9, registering four solos, one assist, one interception, and one pass defended. Gilman has struggled with consistency and health this season but is still a serviceable DB3 option during the byes. He has proven DB2 upside and should be rostered in all 11 v 11 leagues. Add and start Gilman where needed as a DB3 option for a plus Week 10 matchup against the Tennessee Titans.
