This week, I am switching up the format as we don’t have a lot of injury news at the running back position, and the rankings are mostly stagnant. We do have a few new faces (and old friends) joining the list so I am going to touch on the relevant news and how it affects the handcuff situation for that specific team.

Fantasy Football Running Back Handcuff Rankings: Week 10
Christian McCaffery is trending towards playing Week 10. That puts Jordan Mason and Isaac Guerendo back on the handcuff list. McCaffery’s injury will probably mean he is eased in, but the 49ers are currently on the outside looking in of the NFC playoff picture, so they need CMC to be his normal self. I would hold both San Francisco backups if I had them.
Ray Davis had a nifty 70-yard catch and run for a touchdown Sunday. He isn’t a threat to James Cook at the moment, but if the Bills wrap up the AFC East, he could see additional carries in December. If Buffalo opts to keep Cook fresh later in the year, Davis could become a weekly Flex option or be a bye-week fill-in.
Chase Brown handled 100% of the running back touches for Cincinnati on Sunday, totaling 157 yards and a touchdown. He is firmly entrenched as the starter, but with Zack Moss out with a neck injury, the Bengals traded for Khalil Herbert this morning. Herbert won’t split carries or snaps with Brown, but he does provide a lot of value as a handcuff. He is probably available in 90% of redraft leagues.
Trey Benson saw a season-high 28% snap rate and finished with nine touches for 55 yards and a touchdown. James Conner is still leading the backfield for Arizona, but Benson has become a very intriguing stash. Like many rookies, he had some helium in the summer and just needed some time to get his feet under him. He should be rostered everywhere.
Sean Payton says Audric Estime is going to be more involved moving forward. What that means is up for debate (I generally don’t put much stock into what Payton says), but I think the Broncos want to see what they have there as the season wears on. If they go 0-2 in the next two games, they might opt to go with the younger Estime and look to trade Javonte Williams this offseason.
The trade deadline could bring a flurry of activity after this is published. Keep an eye on Twitter and your various football apps to see who gets moved where. It could open up value at the running back position, and with waivers running over the next 48 hours, you’ll need to be on top of the news cycle.
