NHL DFS Lineup Picks & Advice: Tuesday (11/26)

While there are only two games in the NHL tonight, there are still plenty of ways to get some skin in the game. I’m heading the DFS route tonight, where I’ve compiled a nine-man roster below.

This lineup is eligible for DraftKings’ classic $50,000 salary competitions, but I have also listed each player’s price at FanDuel’s $55,000 salary equivalent. Here’s who I believe will turn in a big night before Thanksgiving break.

Tuesday’s NHL DFS Picks & Analysis

The lineup below is based on DraftKings, but FanDuel prices are also listed.

C1: Elias Pettersson (C – VAN) | DraftKings: $6,500/FanDuel: $6,200

I don’t expect a ton of scoring in Boston tonight, but to diversify my lineup, I wanted to include a couple of Vancouver forwards. I’ll ride with Elias Pettersson, who’s centering Vancouver’s top line alongside Jake DeBrusk and Kiefer Sherwood. Pettersson has been elevated due to the injury to J.T. Miller, and he’s also playing on the top power-play unit.

Pettersson is third on the team in scoring (six goals, nine assists) and his six tallies are tied for the most on the roster. The Swedish centerman has also logged 40 shots on goal (SOG), which trails only Quinn Hughes (66) on the team.

C2: Pius Suter (C – VAN) | DraftKings: $3,900/FanDuel $5,100

Keeping it with Vancouver centermen, I’m also locking in second-line center Pius Suter. Suter is sneakily putting together a solid season, as his six goals are tied for Vancouver’s lead.

He has 32 SOG through 18 games, which equates to a modest 1.8 shots on goal per game (SOG/G), which ranks 212th. Boston’s defense still hasn’t played its best, conceding 3.00 goals per game (21st). I like Suter as a depth option tonight against a shaky B’s side.

W1: Clayton Keller (RW – UTA) | DraftKings: $6,700/FanDuel: $6,300

Aside from goalie Kevin Lankinen, the following six players are all participating in tonight’s Utah vs. Montreal game. Let’s start with the most expensive of the bunch, Clayton Keller. While Dylan Guenther has emerged as a pure scorer in Utah, Keller is still the top dog in this clubhouse.

The captain leads the team in scoring (six goals, 13 assists) and logs the most ice time among the forwards with 18:54 time on ice per game (TOI/G). Guenther does have the edge in SOG (51 vs. 49), but both are dangerous scoring threats on this team. I like Keller to find the back of the net against this lowly Montreal defense.

W2: Dylan Guenther (LW – UTA) | DraftKings: $5,700/FanDuel: $6,000

I was comparing Keller and Guenther, but I’m playing both against the lousy Habs’ defense. Guenther leads the Hockey Club’s roster in both goals scored (nine) and SOG (51), and he’s second on the team in points with 18.

Montreal’s defense is a joke, ranking 31st in both GAA (3.55) and SV% (.874). This game should have a ton of goals. I think Guenther will have his hand in at least one or two of them.

W3: Brendan Gallagher (RW – MON) | DraftKings: $3,300/FanDuel: $4,800

While I’m ragging on Montreal’s defense, Utah’s hasn’t been a heck of a lot better this season. The Hockey Club comes into tonight’s action ranked 23rd in GAA (3.05) and 17th in SV% (.895). They’re also just 25th on the penalty kill (76.54%), which bodes well for Brendan Gallagher backers tonight.

Gallagher gets time on the second power-play unit, where he’s racked up four (three goals, one assist) of his 12 points (eight goals, four assists). The third-line winger trails only Cole Caufield (12) in goals (eight), and he’s also third on the team in SOG (40). Gallagher should have a nice night. I love him at this small price of just $3,300.

D1: Mike Matheson (D – MON) | DraftKings: $6,100/FanDuel: $5,800

Mike Matheson is a great option when it comes to fantasy defensemen, both in daily and season-long leagues. The veteran defenseman heads Montreal’s top blue-line pairing, while also walking the line on the top power-play unit.

Matheson has 13 points (one goal, 12 assists) this year. He’s also 15th in the entire league in blocked shots (48). He offers a multitude of ways to collect fantasy points. I think he’s primed for a big night against Utah.

D2: Mikhail Sergachev (D – UTA) | DraftKings: $5,600/FanDuel: $6,000

All of the things I said about Matheson also apply to Mikhail Sergachev. The Russian-born defenseman leads Utah in ice time (25:29 TOI/G) and he’s fifth on the team in scoring (five goals, nine assists).

He’s much more of a true scoring threat than Matheson. Sergachev is also a modest 53rd in blocked shots (36) in the NHL this season, averaging 1.7 per game.

G: Kevin Lankinen (G – VAN) | DraftKings: $7,400/FanDuel: $7,800

Wow, the Vancouver netminding duo of Kevin Lankinen and Arturs Silovs are the lowest-priced goaltenders on tonight’s board. This feels like a steal considering they’re tasked with slowing down a bottom-tier Boston offense.

The B’s enter the night ranked dead last in overall offense (3.2 goals per game), 31st on the power play (12.79%) and 29th in shooting percentage (8.54%). Give me Lankinen, who has cooled off, but still sits at 9-3-2 with a modest 2.74 GAA (31st) and .901 SV% (32nd).

UTIL: Nick Schmaltz (C – UTA) | DraftKings: $4,800/FanDuel: $5,300

I’ll round out my lineup with Nick Schmaltz, which essentially gives us Utah’s top three forwards with Keller and Guenther also in the mix. But don’t worry, there will be plenty of scoring opportunities for this bunch to all get involved.

The Habs are 30th in high-danger shots against (91) and 31st in expected goals against per 60 minutes (3.49). Give me Schmaltz, who ranks fourth on the team in scoring (15 assists), while sitting 21st in the league in assists. Schmaltz should be good for at least one or two points tonight.
