NBA DraftKings & FanDuel DFS Primer
NBA DFS Core Plays
- DraftKings: $10,800
- FanDuel: $11,200
Victor Wembanyama came into the NBA with a lot of fanfare. He was a star before playing his first game in The Association. He is on a huge upward trajectory and is taking the Spurs with him.
He has posted three double-doubles in the past five games, helping the Spurs to a 3-1 mark in the past four outings. That includes the 24 points he scored alongside 16 rebounds and a ridiculous seven blocked shots across 33 minutes with six three-pointers in the most recent meeting with the Utah Jazz on November 9 in San Antonio.
He also had 25 points, nine boards, seven dimes and five swats with four triples against the Jazz in the first meeting in Salt Lake City on Halloween. You’ll get your money’s worth with Wembanyama tonight.
- DraftKings: $9,000
- FanDuel: $8,900
Devin Booker heads into this NBA Cup game against the Lakers on a roll. He put up 33 points against the New York Knicks on Wednesday. Now he sets his eyes on Los Angeles.
In two NBA Cup games, Booker is averaging 21.5 points per game (PPG), 4.0 assists per game (APG), 3.0 rebounds per game (RPG) and 1.5 steals per game (SPG). He should add to those totals in strong fashion, as he is averaging 28.0 PPG, 3.0 RPG, 3.0 APG and 3.5 three-pointers per game in two meetings with Los Angeles this season.
- DraftKings: $10,000
- FanDuel: $9,700
This is an NBA Cup game. We all know how seriously LeBron James takes these games. I mean, Michael Jordan doesn’t have an NBA Cup banner, does he? Can you imagine if James had two to cement his legacy?
In all seriousness, though, James is a freak of nature. I’m being serious. We’re super lucky to see him play. He is 39 and more productive than some of the best 20-year-olds. People toss around the “generational talent” label a little too much, but if that ever applied.
Anyway, James has averaged 20.5 PPG, 12.0 APG and 9.0 RPG in two group play NBA Cup games. He is averaging 16.0 PPG, 8.0 APG, 4.5 RPG and 2.0 three-pointers per game in two tries against the Phoenix Suns this season.
NBA DFS Cash Game Targets
- DraftKings: $8,200
- FanDuel: $8,100
Nikola Vucevic has been humming right along, averaging nearly a double-double with 20.5 PPG and 9.7 RPG so far this season. He’ll look to exceed those totals against the defensively-challenged Washington Wizards, who are allowing 122.9 PPG with a 47.6% field-goal rate and 36.9% three-pointer rate.
Vucevic is averaging 21.5 PPG, 10.5 RPG, 2.5 APG, 2.0 three-pointers and 2.0 blocks (BPG) in two NBA Cup games.
- DraftKings: $7,000
- FanDuel: $7,300
The 24-year-old former Tar Heel has produced tremendous numbers in a regular role in Chicago. Coby White has racked up an impressive 19.1 PPG, 5.0 APG, 3.1 APG and 1.2 SPG with 3.5 threes per game in November. He has averaged 24.5 PPG, 6.0 APG and 3.5 RPG in two NBA Cup games, with nine total three-pointers in the span.
- DraftKings: $6,600
- FanDuel: $6,600
Austin Reaves steams in after having posted 19 points with six assists and three triples last time out against the Denver Nuggets on Saturday. He is another Lakers player who seems to rise to the occasion in NBA Cup games, going for 18.0 PPG and 5.5 APG with 4.0 threes per game in two outings this season.
NBA DFS GPP Targets
- DraftKings: $5,700
- FanDuel: $6,100
The Bulls and Wizards are likely to play a high-scoring game. Believe it not, Washington’s Coulibaly could be a huge part of the offense for the home team. He blew up for 17 points with six rebounds, four assists, two blocked shots, two three-pointers and a steal last time out on Sunday in Indiana.
He has modest numbers in two NBA Cup games, but 7.5 PPG. 8.0 RPG, 3.5 APG and 2.0 SPG is nothing to sneeze at.
Malcolm Brogdon (PG, SG – WAS)
- DraftKings: $5,600
- FanDuel: $5,300
Malcolm Brogdon is another key player in this Bull-Wizards game, which should have plenty of fireworks. He has four games under his belt since debuting on November 17 after a lengthy injury. He got off to a slow start in his first two games but has averaged 16.5 PPG in his last two games. He grabbed 10 boards in his only Cup game against the defending champion Celtics.
- DraftKings: $5,800
- FanDuel: $5,900
Collin Sexton has been on a roll, routinely exceeding his DFS salary expectations. His salary has been slightly ticking up lately. He is averaging 20.7 PPG, 3.3 APG and 1.0 APG with a total of eight three-pointers in the past three outings, including the most recent NBA Cup game against the Lakers.
NBA DFS Value Plays
Harrison Barnes (PF, SF – BRK)
- DraftKings: $4,500
- FanDuel: $5,400
There is a huge salary disparity between the companies, so this is more for salary relief at DraftKings. Collin Sexton has scored 20+ points in three consecutive games, as the 32-year-old is having a bit of a renaissance. He has nine three-pointers during the span, too, while racking up eight or more rebounds. At this price, he is an extremely tremendous value.
Donte DiVincenzo (PG, SG – MIN)
- DraftKings: $5,200
- FanDuel: $5,200
Donte DiVincenzo is expected to be in the starting five against Houston. He has scored 11+ points in three straight games, averaging 12.3 PPG, 3.0 APG, 2.0 RPG and 1.3 SPG. He has also cobbled together 11 three-pointers during that stretch.
- DraftKings: $3,900
- FanDuel: $3,900
Andre Jackson continues to see plenty of meaningful minutes with Khris Middleton (ankle) still unable to go. Now, Taurean Prince carries a questionable tag into the game with an illness, so Jackson could well exceed his salary expectations.
