NBA DraftKings & FanDuel DFS Primer
NBA DFS Core Plays
- DraftKings: $9,800
- FanDuel: $9,600
LaMelo Ball is on a roll, pun totally intended, and he is a little lighter after forking out $100,000 for a fine due to ushering an anti-gay slur in a press conference Saturday afternoon. It wasn’t a distraction, as he played on no rest in Cleveland Sunday, going for 31 points with 12 assists and five three-pointers with a steal.
He hit 11-of-29 from the field, too, and he has scored 31+ points in four of his past five games and six out of nine games in November while going for 30.2 points per game (PPG) in the span.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (PG – OKC)
- DraftKings: $10,600
- FanDuel: $10,800
More often than not, you’re going to get what you pay for when you roster Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. In a 121-119 loss against the Dallas Mavericks, he posted 36 points with eight assists, two rebounds, two blocked shots and two steals while going a very efficient 13-of-19 from the field.
The Spurs are surprisingly decent defensively, but he was good for 18 points, five assists, four rebounds, a steal and two three-pointers in the first meeting on October 30 against the Spurs.
- DraftKings: $10,700
- FanDuel: $11,200
Anthony Davis has been working his way through plantar fasciitis, and you should circle back around 90 minutes before tip time just to verify he is playing. He carries a probable tag, which means he is likely to play.
In the past five games, Davis has managed 29.0 PPG, 10.6 rebounds per game (RPG), 2.4 blocks per game (BPG) and 2.0 assists per game (APG) while hitting 54.4% from the field. The Jazz are very soft defensively, so this is a good time for a Lakers stack.
NBA DFS Cash Game Targets
- DraftKings: $7,100
- FanDuel: $7,100
Austin Reaves is likely to rebound after an ugly 3-of-19 shooting night in New Orleans on Saturday, although he was still able to scratch out 10 points with seven assists, two rebounds and a steal with a pair of three-pointers.
Reaves has managed six or more assists in five consecutive outings heading into Tuesday’s NBA Cup game against the Utah Jazz. The Jazz have allowed 118.5 PPG, while teams are hitting 48.1% from the field against them and 36.7% from behind the three-point line.
- DraftKings: $7,300
- FanDuel: $7,500
Desman Bane recently made his way back from an oblique injury and has been impressive. In an NBA Cup game on Friday at Golden State, he went for 18 points with six rebounds, two assists and two steals while hitting 7-of-13 from the field.
Bane took a little step back Sunday, misfiring on seven of his 12 field-goal attempts, but he recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds while adding seven dimes.
Michael Porter Jr. (SF, PF – DEN)
- DraftKings: $7,200
- FanDuel: $7,400
Michael Porter Jr. had a rough time in Memphis last time out, going for just 10 points with three boards and a 0-for-4 mark from downtown. His struggles for DFS players last time dropped his salary a tick. Take advantage. Yes, he’ll be facing the Grizzlies again, so there is no guarantee he is much better, but he hasn’t had back-to-back games with a goose egg in the three-pointer column this season.
Despite his egg-laying on Sunday, he is still averaging 20.1 PPG, 6.0 RPG and 3.0 APG with 3.4 three-pointers per game in eight contests in November.
NBA DFS GPP Targets
- DraftKings: $6,900
- FanDuel: $5,800
Scotty Pippen Jr. was rolling along in the first few games in November, taking advantage of the fact Ja Morant, Bane and Marcus Smart were each sidelined. In the past two games, Pippen has continued to start, but his shot has gone off the rails.
Pippen has made just 3-of-18 (.167) field goals in the past two games, averaging just 6.5 PPG, 4.0 APG, 2.5 RPG and 2.0 SPG. He put up some decent counting stats against the Nuggets, though, going for 10 points, four assists, four steals, three rebounds and two three-pointers. At this price, that’s not terrible production.
- DraftKings: $6,300
- FanDuel: $6,600
Mikal Bridges gets a crack at a Brooklyn Nets defense allowing 114.6 PPG with a 48.5% defensive field-goal percentage and a 35.3% defensive three-pointer rate. At this price, Bridges is fine to play in a favorable matchup, especially since he has scored 19+ points and seven or more rebounds in each of the past three outings while averaging 3.0 three-pointers per game.
- DraftKings: $5,600
- FanDuel: $5,600
Collin Sexton is humming along in November, going for 16.4 PPG, 3.6 APG and 3.1 RPG in eight games. His field-goal percentage is down slightly at 44.8%, but his turnovers are also down, too.
In addition, he made just two three-pointers, all in one game, in five outings in October. In November, he has picked up the pace from downtown, going for at least two triples in six of his previous seven outings.
NBA DFS Value Plays
- DraftKings: $3,800
- FanDuel: $3,900
With Zach Edey (ankle) sidelined after rolling his ankle last time out on Sunday, Brandon Clarke is expected to start Tuesday’s NBA Cup game, while seeing a lion’s share of the playing time in the middle. He was good for eight points and seven rebounds in 22 rebounds last time out against Denver on Sunday.
- DraftKings: $4,900
- FanDuel: $5,100
Daniel Gafford has turned up the intensity in the past two games, averaging 16.5 PPGm 9.5 RPG and 2.0 BPG. That has come in just 18 minutes per game. If he can come anywhere close to these averages, he’ll easily exceed his DFS salary expectations.
Jeremiah Robinson-Earl (PF, C – NOP)
- DraftKings: $4,600
- FanDuel: $4,600
Jeremiah Robinson-Earl was good for 10 points and nine rebounds with two three-pointers in 33 minutes against the Lakers last time out. He is averaging a very healthy 9.6 PPG and 6.2 RPG with 1.0 APG across the past five games.
