NBA DraftKings & FanDuel DFS Primer
NBA DFS Core Plays
- DraftKings: $8,000
- FanDuel: $7,800
Franz Wagner has picked up the pace offensively, taking advantage of the fact Paolo Banchero is sidelined due to an oblique injury. He posted 28 points with eight rebounds and six assists Wednesday in Indiana while knocking down a pair of three-pointers.
In the past two games, he has averaged 25 points per game (PPG), six rebounds per game (RPG), four assists (APG) and 1.5 three-pointers made per game. He has recorded six or more boards and six or more assists in three of his past four outings. Wagner has been consistent and doesn’t come with a super high price tag.
- DraftKings: $8,900
- FanDuel: $8,800
Jalen Brunson has been super consistent in the scoring department this season. Not only is he averaging 25.3 PPG through seven games, but he has managed 21+ points in each of his starts. He has eclipsed 30 points just once, a 36-point outburst on November 1st in Detroit. He’ll be facing a Milwaukee Bucks defense allowing 116 PPG. It is also a team that played Thursday night, so the Bucks come in with no rest.
- DraftKings: $12,300
- FanDuel: $6,400
Andrew Drummond is available on DraftKings only in late-night turbo games, thus the giant salary discrepancy. Whichever format you decide to play, Drummond is a strong play. He is expected to make another start with Joel Embiid serving his suspension for shoving a reporter.
Drummond had nine points, 10 rebounds, a blocked shot and a rare three-pointer last time out against the L.A. Clippers on Wednesday. He has tremendous rebounding ability and will rack up his fair share of blocked shots and steals.
NBA DFS Cash Game Targets
- DraftKings: $8,400
- FanDuel: $8,800
Devin Booker had a couple of prolific scoring games against the Los Angeles teams in the final two outings in October. He is averaging a cool 21 PPG with eight APG and 5.3 RPG in three games in November while hitting four triples.
Last time out against Miami on Wednesday, Booker bounced back with a 9-of-17 shooting night after a 3-of-18 disaster against Philadelphia on Monday. You’ll want some stock in Booker in the nationally televised game against the Mavericks.
- DraftKings: $8,700
- FanDuel: $8,900
Cade Cunningham will get a crack against the Atlanta Hawks. If you’re a bettor, you already know, or at least you should, that the over has cashed in eight out of nine games for Atlanta this season.
The Hawks are allowing 121.2 PPG and teams are hitting at a 40.6% clip from behind the three-point line. Oh, yeah, and Cunningham has recorded two triple-doubles in a row, averaging 18.5 PPG, 10.5 RPG and 10.5 APG.
- DraftKings: $8,200
- FanDuel: $7,300
Julius Randle is a consistent producer and is coming off an impressive showing with 22 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, one three-pointer and a steal in 35 minutes at Chicago on Thursday.
While he will be coming in on no rest, he had a respectable 21 points and five boards on 8-of-15 shooting on Saturday in San Antonio in his most recent game when playing on no rest.
NBA DFS GPP Targets
- DraftKings: $5,700
- FanDuel: $6,400
Jose Alvarado has been a dependable and economical option for DFS players for most of the season. Injuries at other positions have carved out a nice role for Alvarado. He went for 27 points on a very efficient 10-of-14 shooting on Wednesday night in a high-scoring loss to the red-hot Cleveland Cavaliers.
Alvarado was a blistering 7-of-7 from behind the three-point line, too. He is all but expected to make his sixth straight start with C.J. McCollum (thigh) and Dejounte Murray (hand) on the shelf.
- DraftKings: $6,500
- FanDuel: $6,000
Scotty Pippen Jr. is likely to get the starting nod at point guard, as Ja Morant is expected to miss the game due to a hip injury. In addition to Morant sitting, Desmond Bane (oblique) and Marcus Smart (finger) are also sidelined. That’s great news for Pippen, who has had a phenomenal run in November.
Pippen Jr. is averaging 28.7 minutes per game while going for 13.3 PPG, 6.7 APG and 4.7 RPG in three games this month. He has knocked down six three-pointers in the three-game span, too.
Jaren Jackson, Jr. (PF/C – MEM)
- DraftKings: $7,200
- FanDuel: $7,700
Jaren Jackson Jr. is a strong play, pairing him with Pippen Jr. for a Memphis short stack. The Washington Wizards’ scoring defense is terrible, allowing 123.3 PPG, while the opposition is hitting at a 47% clip from the field.
Jackson Jr. has enjoyed a solid November so far, averaging 20.7 PPG, 5.7 RPG, 2.3 blocked (BPG) and 2.0 three-pointers made per game in three outings. Against the leaky defense of the Wizards, Jackson Jr. should enjoy a very strong game, especially as one of the top scoring options for the banged-up Grizzlies.
NBA DFS Value Plays
- DraftKings: $4,700
- FanDuel: $4,600
The hulking rookie out of Purdue has had a couple of solid outings in November, including the first two double-doubles of his NBA career. Zach Edey is averaging 14.3 PPG and 9.7 RPG while shooting a ridiculous 75% (18-of-24) from the field.
He’ll be going up against a defensively challenged Wizards side. If you’re looking to save some salary, yet can get some decent production out of Edey. Roll with the big man tonight.
- DraftKings: $5,500
- FanDuel: $5,200
Zaccharie Risacher, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, had the finest game of his career Wednesday against the New York Knicks. He exploded for 33 points on 11-of-18 shooting, including a tremendous 6-of-10 from behind the three-point line.
Risacher also chipped in with seven boards, three dimes, three steals and two blocked shots. About the only thing that didn’t go well was his 5-of-9 night from the free-throw line.
- DraftKings: $4,500
- FanDuel: $4,100
Neemias Queta is expected to make a second straight start with Jaylen Brown (hip) sidelined. He went for 14 points with eight rebounds and two blocked shots last time out in 28 minutes, hitting 6-of-11 from the field.
At this price tag, he has been exceeding DFS salary expectations by miles. In four November outings, Queta has averaged 10 PPG and six RPG, while hitting 64.3% of his field-goal attempts.
