NBA DraftKings & FanDuel DFS Primer
NBA DFS Core Plays
- DraftKings: $10,400
- FanDuel: $10,500
Jayson Tatum is coming off a huge performance against the previously unbeaten Cleveland Cavaliers last time out Tuesday in an NBA Cup game. He hit 11-of-22 from the field to finish with 33 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists with two steals, while dropping six three-pointers.
Tatum will face a very weak Washington Wizards defense. He posted 25 points, 11 boards and six dimes with three triples in 29 minutes in a 122-102 win at Washington in their first meeting on October 24.
With the Wizards allowing 124.7 points per game, a 47.9% defensive field-goal percentage and a 37.6% defensive three-pointer percentage, you’re going to want to play several Celtics today.
Domantas Sabonis (C, PF – SAC)
- DraftKings: $9,800
- FanDuel: $9,500
While there is a little bit of risk with Domantas Sabonis, inserting him into your lineups should pay big dividends barring any setbacks. Sabonis missed the past two games due to a tight lower back, but he is not listed on the injured report for this massive NBA Cup game at Intuit Dome on Friday night.
The last time we saw Sabonis in a tournament game last Friday against Minnesota, he registered 23 points with 12 rebounds, four assists and three blocked shots on 10-of-15 from the field. He has 12 consecutive double-doubles, including three triple-doubles in the span. The last time he faced the Clips, Sabonis was good for 23 points, 12 rebounds and six assists on an efficient 9-of-12 from the floor.
- DraftKings: $9,200
- FanDuel: $9,200
With a total of 244 points, the sportsbooks are expecting the Hawks and Bulls to have a wild offensive game. If that comes to fruition, Trae Young will be front and center of the festivities.
Young has struggled with his shot in the past two games, hitting just 5-of-19 in the past two games on the road against Sacramento and Golden State, but he dished out 30 assists in the two games with 3.0 rebounds per game and 2.0 steals per game to salvage the stat line. The last time he faced Chicago, Young was good for 14 points and 16 rebounds with three assists and two three-pointers.
NBA DFS Cash Game Targets
- DraftKings: $7,800
- FanDuel: $7,900
Again, the Hawks and Bulls are expected to have quite the offensive showcase on Friday. Nikola Vucevic is good for 21.5 points per game, 9.0 rebounds per game and 4.5 assists per game with 2.0 blocks per game and 1.5 steals per game in the past two games while also dropping eight triples.
In his first meeting with Atlanta, Vucevic was good for 18 points, 12 rebounds, two steals and two three-pointers on an efficient 8-of-13 from the field.
- DraftKings: $6,800
- FanDuel: $7,600
Dyason Daniels is an attractive play in this potentially high-scoring NBA Cup game against the Bulls, particularly on DraftKings since his salary is substantially cheaper there. Daniels is a solid offensive weapon, posting double-digit point totals in seven consecutive games. He has also added six rebounds in three straight outings while dishing out three or more assists in six straight outings.
In his most recent run against the Bulls, he went for 16 points with eight rebounds, three assists and a whopping six steals across 36 minutes while hitting 7-of-15 from the field.
- DraftKings: $5,000
- FanDuel: $5,000
You’re probably seeing a little bit of a pattern by now. Scoop up plenty of Bulls and Hawks, and don’t look back. I have Ayo Dosunmu in a 30-team fantasy league of fellow writers, and it is one of the most challenging leagues ever. The 24-year-old former standout at the University of Illinois has single-digit point totals in the past three games after going for 10+ points in five in a row from November 7 to November 15.
On November 9, Dosunmu was good for 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting, with two three-pointers — his second-best point total of the season. He added four assists with two rebounds and a blocked shot in that game, too.
NBA DFS GPP Targets
- DraftKings: $7,700
- FanDuel: $8,100
Swingman DeMar DeRozan missed three games due to a back ailment, but he isn’t even listed on the injury report heading into Friday’s potential offensive showcase against the Clips down south.
The 35-year-old had a season-low two points last time out against Phoenix on November 13, but he was limited to just 17 minutes before departing. His salary is adjusted based on that performance, which is to your benefit. He has 20+ points in 10 of his 11 full games this season. Despite the two-point game against the Suns, he is still good for 22.9 points per game, 4.1 rebounds per game and 4.1 assists per game in November.
- DraftKings: $6,400
- FanDuel: $6,300
Jalen Green has enjoyed a solid three-game stretch since November 17, averaging 17.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game with a total of four three-pointers and four steals in the span. He faces a solid matchup against the defensively challenged Portland Trail Blazers, as they’re coughing up 113.9 points per game. At this mid-tier price, Green should exceed DFS salary expectations.
- DraftKings: $5,800
- FanDuel: $5,600
The 34-year-old veteran is slowly starting to find his rhythm in his new surroundings. The former Splash Bro was good for 19 points with four boards, two steals and an assist across 24 minutes in a 132-91 rout of the New Orleans Pelicans last time out on Tuesday. He hit five three-pointers, the third time in the past five games he has gotten to that mark from behind the arc.
The last time he faced the Nuggets on November 10 in the Mile High City, Thompson had 10 points, five rebounds, four assists and a three-pointer in 33 minutes.
NBA DFS Value Plays
Spencer Dinwiddie (PF, SF – DAL)
- DraftKings: $3,000
- FanDuel: $3,800
The veteran point guard’s playing time has been spotty lately and he is scoreless in three of his past four games. But, with Luka Doncic (wrist) getting bad news on an MRI Thursday, the veteran is likely to be leaned upon a little more going forward.
Spencer Dinwiddie had 10 points on 3-of-7 shooting last time out at Oklahoma City, going 2-of-3 from behind the arc, with three boards, an assist and a steal in 17 minutes.
- DraftKings: $4,000
- FanDuel: $4,400
Amir Coffey could see a bump in playing time with Norman Powell nursing a hamstring injury. Coffey was good for 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting Wednesday night against the Orlando Magic, finishing with four boards, an assist and four 3-pointers. If you need some salary relief, yet want some better production, add a little Coffey to your fantasy cup.
- DraftKings: $4,800
- FanDuel: $5,100
The No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft has had some erratic scoring performances in November, but he has hit his stride lately. In the past four games, Zaccharie Risacher has at least 11 points, averaging 13.0 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. He also has five three-pointers over the past two outings. He should fare well against the Bulls’ leaky defense.
On November 9 against Chicago in their first match, Risacher posted 17 points with two boards and two blocked shots while adding a triple in 30 minutes.
