Welcome to Sleeper Picks. Sleeper’s newest offering promised plenty of entertainment and action, and they delivered. We will break down our top three picks for tonight’s NBA action. Sleeper is quickly becoming one of the most popular season-long fantasy platforms, and they are expanding into other areas based on demand. Each week in this space, we’ll talk about some strategy for the new platform while providing our favorite NBA more/less picks.
NBA Sleeper Picks Player Predictions (11/18)
Trae Young (G – ATL): 7.5 assists (alt line)
Trae Young has been in struggle mode for the Hawks this season. He still puts up gaudy numbers that will help fantasy basketball players playing in points leagues with 23.4 points and 11.3 assists per game, but his field goal percentage has sunk to a new low (.381). This makes his point totals a crapshoot. The multiplier on the assist alt line is lower than we hoped, but he will likely get saddled with the 10.5 number until he falls short in consecutive games. Trae has recorded eight or more assists in 11 of his 12 games this season and is in an excellent position to do so again tonight against a Sacramento Kings team he dished out 12 assists against earlier this month. Tap the More on Trae for Monday night basketball.
Pick: More
Cade Cunningham (G – DET): 19.5 points (alt line)
Cade has taken his game to the next level. He is averaging a scintillating 23.2 points, 7.1 rebounds, 8.6 assists, 0.6 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game from the point guard position. He is taking a career high in field goal attempts per game but has maintained the improved stroke he showed last season (.449) and is currently shooting .443 from the floor, a far cry from the sub .420 numbers that plagued his first two seasons in the league. Cade has recorded 20 or more points in 11 of his 14 contests and has an excellent opportunity to do so again tonight against a Chicago Bulls team surrendering 22.31 points per game to the point guard position. Clap the More on Cade for Monday night at Sleeper Picks.
Pick: More
Karl-Anthony Towns (F/C – NYK): 19.5 points (alt line)
KAT has morphed back into the ultra talented big man that dazzled fans in Minnesota and has him back in the conversation as one of the top-10 talents in the league. He is currently averaging a career high matching 26.5 points per game, and is shooting an elite but unsustainable .536 from deep. Towns has long opined that he prefers the four, but playing alongside a lane clogging big like Rudy Gobert was a drain on his brilliance and a poor fit. Now back at the five, KAT looks well on his way to an All-NBA selection if he can stay healthy. Towns has recorded 21 or more points in eight of his 11 contests and is in an excellent position to do so again against a Washington Wizards team relinquishing 26.38 points per game to the center position. Hit the More on KAT for Monday night’s action.
Pick: More
Writers note: The lines are constantly changing on Sleeper (and sometimes expiring), so there is a high probability that one or all of the numbers may no longer be the same when you open your app. There are excellent values when they are first posted, with the only catch being that they are not all released at the same time. Vigilance could provide a solid return on investment this season, literally.
