Welcome to Sleeper Picks. Sleeper’s newest offering promised plenty of entertainment and action, and they delivered. We will break down our top three picks for tonight’s NBA action. Sleeper is quickly becoming one of the most popular season-long fantasy platforms, and they are expanding into other areas based on demand. Each week in this space, we’ll talk about some strategy for the new platform while providing our favorite NBA more/less picks.
NBA Sleeper Picks Player Predictions (11/11)
Donovan Mitchell (G – CLE): 5.5 1st quarter points
Mitchell got back on track after missing his first quarter mark against the Warriors. He managed just five first quarter points against Golden State on Friday but responded with a 15 point opening frame against Brooklyn on Saturday. Donovan is averaging a robust 8.0 points per first quarter on the season and has hit seven or more in six of his last eight games. Mitchell usually looks to set the tone early, so this is a number he should hit most nights. Dap the More on Donovan for Monday night basketball.
Pick: More
DeMar DeRozan (G/F – SAC): 19.5 points (alt line)
DeMar has scored fewer than 20 points just once since becoming a member of the Sacramento Kings and leads the team with 25.2 points per game. He has provided the additional scoring punch the Kings so desperately needed and has helped guide the team to a .600 winning percentage through 10 games played. This is a play we are going to trail for most of the season, so you will likely have the feeling of deja vu when the Kings and Cavs are playing on the same night (as long as Mitchell’s first quarter number remains reasonable). DeRozan has scored 20 or more points in June of his 10 games this season and is in an excellent position to do so again in a mini revenge game against the San Antonio Spurs. Dap the More on DeMar for Monday night at Sleeper Picks.
Pick: More
Domantas Sabonis (C – SAC): 0.5 double doubles
Domantas finally got some national love with his inclusion in this summer’s Netflix NBA version of Quarterback called Starting 5. One of the best players in the association and the reigning double double and triple double king, there are very few as consistent as the son of legendary Blazers big man Arvydas Sabonis. Domantas registered 77 double doubles last season and has put up at least 10 and 10 in nine straight games (he missed the mark in the opener). He is averaging 12.9 rebounds per game and has added three triple doubles to his ledger. Sabonis averaged 14.0 rebounds per game against San Antonio last season. Slap the More on Sabonis for Monday night’s action.
Pick: More
Writers note: The lines are constantly changing on Sleeper (and sometimes expiring), so there is a high probability that one or all of the numbers may no longer be the same when you open your app. There are excellent values when they are first posted, with the only catch being that they are not all released at the same time. Vigilance could provide a solid return on investment this season, literally.
