Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Early Week 13 Pickups to Add (2024)

Two more weeks.

We’ve got two more weeks of the fantasy football regular season. It’s come fast, but there’s no time for reminiscing yet. Let’s dive into some potential waiver wire claims ahead of Week 13.

As always, the players mentioned below have played in Sunday’s early slate or before and are rostered in fewer than 40% of leagues. Let’s dive into some names who stand out already as potential pickups.

Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Early Week 13 Pickups to Add

Sean Tucker (RB – TB)

Rostered: 1.6%

Sean Tucker, who scored 34.2 PPR fantasy points in Week 6, is worth adding if you roster Buccaneers running backs. He’s far from startable at the moment — you’re banking on a touchdown or injury. However, should Rachaad White or Bucky Irving miss time, Tucker could be productive in a larger role.

Roschon Johnson (RB – CHI)

Rostered: 17.3%

2023 fourth-round pick Roschon Johnson has scored twice in two weeks as the backup to D’Andre Swift. Johnson should be rostered by anyone who rosters Swift. Should Swift miss time for any reason, Johnson is startable.

Alec Pierce (WR – IND)

Rostered: 15.2%

If I have to start someone rostered in fewer than 20% of leagues, it’s probably going to be Alec Pierce. He’s a big play waiting to happen. He’s scored 16+ PPR points four times this season. He lined up alongside Josh Downs in many of Indianapolis’ 2-WR sets today. His ceiling is unparalleled for players at this waiver wire availability.

Xavier Legette (WR – CAR)

Rostered: 36.4%

The No. 32 pick in this year’s draft, Xavier Legette has dealt with the revolving door of Andy Dalton and Bryce Young at quarterback. He’s still accrued at least 30 yards in each of his last four games.

It’s far from an impressive number, but being a first-round pick, Legette may see more opportunities come his way towards the end of this season. The Panthers and offensive-minded head coach Dave Canales could have big plans for their budding receiver.

Nick Westbrook-Ikhine (WR – TEN)

Rostered: 7.5%

Nick Westbrook-Ikhine has scored a touchdown in six of his last seven games. That type of scoring doesn’t usually sustain but it’s worth noting if you’re in a peculiar spot. Westbrook-Ikhine, Calvin Ridley, Tyler Boyd, and Chig Okonkwo make up Will Levis‘ core targets. Westbrook-Ikhine could certainly continue to see a viable workload given the group with whom he’s competing.

Noah Gray (TE – KC)

Rostered: 1.8%

Noah Gray can’t be relied upon as a weekly starting option in any format. However, and this may sound crazy, he’s a handcuff for Travis Kelce. Gray, in his last two games, has eight catches for 89 yards and four touchdowns.

If you roster Kelce — the overall fantasy TE3 — and you have the roster space, I wouldn’t hate grabbing Gray as insurance if Kelce were to miss time for any reason. Do not prioritize this addition but he’s worth keeping an eye on.

Caleb Williams (QB – CHI)

Rostered: 36.7%

Caleb Williams has put up two viable performances two weeks in a row, both against divisional opponents. His rushing ability provides a floor worth adding if you need a quarterback and he’s throwing the ball quite a bit.

Williams is averaging 34 pass attempts and 31 rushing yards per game this season. Both of those numbers contribute to a solid fantasy floor.

Drake Maye (QB – NE)

Rostered: 21.7%

Drake Maye could be a short-term streamer if you need a quarterback. The Patriots host the Indianapolis Colts next weekend in a favorable matchup for Maye. The 2024 first-round pick is averaging 16.5 points per game in his six full games.

Jameis Winston (QB – CLE)

Rostered: 10.1%

Jameis Winston chucks the ball. He gets the ball and he chucks it. He’s always ready to chuck. This results in 395-yard, two-touchdown games (last weekend against New Orleans). It also results in three-interception games (Week 9 against the Chargers).

If you’re in a spot where you’re looking for a quarterback rostered in just 10% of leagues, Winston’s ceiling is certainly worth consideration.

Buccaneers Defense/Special Teams

Rostered: 35.7%

The Buccaneers take on Carolina in Week 13 and host the Raiders in Week 14. If you’re in a position where D/ST is your top waiver wire claim, the Buccaneers should be serviceable.

Dallas Cowboys Defense/Special Teams

Rostered: 24.1%

The Cowboys take on the Tommy DeVito-led Giants next weekend. Two weeks after that, they get the Panthers. That’s a solid schedule for a D/ST rostered in fewer than a quarter of leagues.
