Fantasy Football Quarterback Streamers & Waiver Wire Pickups (Week 12)

Week 11 of the 2024 NFL season is in the books. Hopefully, your team pulled out the victory. However, the only easy win was last week’s win. So, let’s look at the top streaming quarterback options for Week 12.

All the quarterbacks in this article are rostered in under 50% of ESPN 1QB leagues and under 35% in superflex leagues.

Streaming Targets in 1QB Leagues

Anthony Richardson (QB – IND) vs. Detroit Lions (43.5% Rostered)

Richardson returned to the starting lineup in Week 11. The second-year quarterback struggled before his benching, completing 44.4% of his pass attempts for 159.7 yards and 11.1 fantasy points per game. He scored 11.5 or fewer fantasy points in every game since Week 1 until Sunday’s matchup against the New York Jets. Richardson completed 66.7% of his pass attempts for 272 yards and 28.1 fantasy points, all season-highs. While he had two rushing touchdowns, the 14.9 fantasy points scored with his arm was his highest total since opening weekend.

Last week, the Lions “held” Mac Jones to 4.2 fantasy points. By comparison, they surrendered 14.4 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks over the first 10 weeks, slightly below the league average. Furthermore, Detroit has held quarterbacks to 8.3 fantasy points per game over the past three weeks. However, they faced an injured Jordan Love, C.J. Stroud without his top two wide receivers, and Jones. The Lions had given up 19.5 or more fantasy points in two of their previous four games, including to Mason Rudolph in Week 8.

Tua Tagovailoa (QB – MIA) vs. New England Patriots (42.7% Rostered)

Fantasy players have seen Tagovailoa struggle, averaging 1.2 passing touchdowns and 12.9 fantasy points per game over his first five contests, totaling one or fewer scores in all but one matchup. However, the veteran was outstanding in the Week 11 win over the Las Vegas Raiders, completing 77.8% of his pass attempts for 288 yards, three touchdowns, and 23.5 fantasy points, setting season highs in every category. More importantly, he had his best fantasy performance this year despite Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle combining for under 100 receiving yards.

Thankfully, Tagovailoa will face the Patriots at home this week. New England held Caleb Williams to 6.3 fantasy points in Week 10. However, they’ve struggled to stop all other quarterbacks lately. The Patriots gave up 295 passing yards, four touchdowns, and 27.8 fantasy points to Matthew Stafford last week. More importantly, they’ve surrendered 19.2 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks over their past five contests outside the matchup against the rookie. Tagovailoa had three passing touchdowns and 20.6 fantasy points in his last game in Miami against the division rivals.

Streaming Targets in Superflex Leagues

Matthew Stafford (QB – LAR) vs. Philadelphia Eagles (28.3% Rostered)

Unfortunately, Stafford has been unstartable most of the year. He averaged 9.2 fantasy points per game over the first seven weeks, with Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp missing most of those contests. However, the veteran quarterback has been outstanding since getting his two superstar wide receivers back in the lineup. Stafford had a poor performance in Week 10, totaling 9.7 fantasy points. Yet, the veteran has averaged 290.7 passing yards, 3.3 touchdowns, and 23.5 fantasy points per game in the other three contests since the return of his wide receivers.

The future Hall of Famer completed 66.7% of his pass attempts for 295 passing yards, four touchdowns, and 27.8 fantasy points in Week 11, totaling over 24.7 fantasy points and four touchdowns for the second time in the past month. More importantly, Stafford should have to throw plenty on Sunday night against the Eagles. Philadelphia has held quarterbacks to 10.1 fantasy points per game since their bye week. However, they’ve struggled with talented pocket passers, including giving up 28.9 fantasy points to Baker Masefield earlier this year.

Drake Maye (QB – NE) vs. Miami Dolphins (17.7% Rostered)

New England hasn’t won many games this season. Yet, Maye has been a massive bright spot for the team. He has averaged 1.5 passing touchdowns and 16.2 fantasy points per game in his six starts. Furthermore, the rookie has averaged 17.2 fantasy points per game in the five starts he didn’t leave early with a concussion, totaling 15.7 or more in all but one contest. More importantly, Maye has racked up fantasy points with his legs, averaging 5.1 fantasy points per game on the ground as the starting quarterback.

While the Dolphins are heavy favorites in this game, don’t be surprised if the Patriots make it a close contest because of their rookie quarterback. New England’s offense has played better lately, while Miami’s defense has been inconsistent. Last week, the Dolphins gave up 282 passing yards, two touchdowns, and 18 fantasy points to Gardner Minshew II, allowing the veteran to set season highs in every category. Furthermore, they have surrendered 18 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks over the past month, allowing 22.1 or more in half the contests.

Streamer to Avoid

Jameis Winston (QB – CLE) vs. Pittsburgh Steelers (8.5% Rostered)

Typically, streaming articles provide which players to target off the waiver wire. However, I will give one quarterback that fantasy players should avoid streaming each week.

Winston was one of my favorite last-minute waiver wire replacement options in Week 11 in a matchup against his former team. While he didn’t get the win, the veteran quarterback had an excellent fantasy performance. Winston had 395 passing yards, two touchdowns, and 26.6 fantasy points against the New Orleans Saints, setting a season-high in yards and fantasy points. Unfortunately, he has struggled against talented defenses. The veteran quarterback was awful in the Week 9 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, totaling only 10.1 fantasy points and three interceptions.

Last week, the Steelers shut down Lamar Jackson, holding the reigning MVP to a season-low 14.9 fantasy points. The superstar completed only 48.5% of his pass attempts for 207 yards and a touchdown after completing 69.1% of his passes for 266.9 yards and 2.4 touchdowns over the first 10 weeks. Furthermore, Pittsburgh has held quarterbacks to 11.5 fantasy points per game this year, allowing 15 or fewer in all but two contests. Expect Winston to struggle on Thursday night after a strong fantasy performance in Week 11.
