Week 9 proved to be one of the lowest-scoring weeks of the 2024 season for fantasy kickers, with seven kickers posting ten or more points. By comparison, 14 kickers topped 10 or more points in Week 8, and four kickers scored more than the top kicker this week.

Fantasy Football Kicker Rankings & Start/Sit Advice
Chances are, you had a bad week from your kicker. Younghoe Koo, Cameron Dicker, Jake Elliott and Ka’imi Fairbairn all had off weeks. Heck, even Brandon Aubrey and Austin Seibert, two of the best kickers on the year, failed to top nine fantasy points.
Perhaps the biggest shocker was rookie Will Reichard, who went from being a rookie darling for Vikings fans to missing his first two kicks of the season, including a short attempt that hit the right upright. He was seen with a hot pad on his quad, which could have been the reason for his shanks.
Week 9 Strong Performances From Widely-Available Kickers
Cairo Santos (K – CHI) vs. Arizona: 10% roster percentage on Yahoo
My preseason breakout candidate, who has been a bust due to the Bears offense being better than predicted in the red zone, had his second-best game of the season with 13 points against the Cardinals. Considering the negative game script, it was surprising, but he made all three tries, and two were over 50 yards.
Chad Ryland (K – ARZ) vs. Chicago: 2% roster percentage on Yahoo
Outside of the person in charge of predicting the weather for the Cardinals, everything went well for Arizona on Sunday. Even Ryland got into the mix against the Bears, with 11 points for his second-straight week of double-digit points.
Week 9 Dud Performances From Heavily-Owned Kickers
Younghoe Koo (K – ATL) vs. Dallas: 93% roster percentage on Yahoo
There are times when good kickers only get extra points. That was the case with Koo this week in a 27-21 win over the Cowboys. Better days are ahead, and I would not drop him.

Kicker Rankings:
*Red Zone Efficiency is based on the inverse of how well the kicker’s offense does in the red zone. For example, the Ravens rank 1st in red zone efficiency; therefore, Justin Tucker has a RZ EFF score of 31. The lower the number, the better for kickers, as playing on a team that struggles to score touchdowns in the red zone equates to more field goal opportunities.
**The K Score is the sum of a player’s opponent red zone, the red zone efficiency of his offense, and the overall rank of his respective team in terms of total yards. A low score indicates that a kicker has variables working in his favor for a good fantasy kicking performance.
Kicker rankings are based on numerous factors, including matchups, Vegas lines and score projections, weather conditions, the ability of a kicker’s team offense and their ability to move the ball into field goal range, offensive red zone efficiency, and how well the opposing defense limits touchdowns in the red zone. These factors are a guide but not a definitive way to predict kicking success, as other variables and negative game scripts significantly impact the outcome.
Based on all of the variables mentioned above, the following two kickers are players ranked outside of the FantasyPros ECR top 10 who could be an excellent play in Week 10.
Jake Moody (K – SF) vs. Tampa Bay: 26% roster percentage on Yahoo
The 49ers have scored the third most points at the kicker position this season, and Moody is likely coming back from a sprained ankle. Look for him to beat his 20th overall ECR ranking.
Jason Sanders (K – MIA) vs. Rams: 32% roster percentage on Yahoo
Sanders was my preseason bust candidate, and with 60 points so far this season, that prediction looks to be correct. With that said, there are certain times you can use him, and this week on the road against the Rams looks like a decent play.
Prediction Review
Each week, I suggest two kickers ranked outside the FantasyPros ECR top 10 who I believe will be solid performers based on the variables described in the K Score section. The following is a review of my picks from the previous week to see where I was successful and where I missed the mark.
Jake Elliott (K – PHI) vs. JAX: 65% roster percentage on Yahoo
ECR Rank: 8
My Rank: 12
Week 9 Finish: 19
Elliott appeared to have a great matchup but managed just five fantasy points vs Jacksonville. The hope here was that a negative game script would appear with the Eagles defense creating turnovers and short fields. The Eagles won, but they did not dominate the Jags as I had hoped.
Jason Myers (SEA) vs. Rams: 19% roster percentage on Yahoo
ECR Rank: 15
My Rank: 11
Week 9 Finish: 30
This might be my worst pick of the season and the most disappointing. An indoor matchup that looked good on paper resulted in just one fantasy point and a missed extra point.
