NBA Cup action opened on Tuesday and brought with it two great games that saw Detroit and Golden State squeak by Miami and Dallas and a major upset of Boston by Atlanta.
It’s still too early to determine whether NBA Cup games elicit different rotations or any other quantifiable changes from non-NBA Cup games. Continue to treat them like any other for fantasy purposes.

Fantasy Basketball Trade Advice (Week 3)
Trade For
Bilal Coulibaly (SG, SG – WAS)
Bilal Coulibaly has performed very well to start his second season in Washington. Compared to his rookie campaign, he’s nearly doubled his points per game and he’s been more efficient from the field and beyond the arc. Moreover, Wizards coach Brian Keefe has enough trust in Coulibaly to play him 35.1 minutes per game, which ranks 13th in the league.
Coulibaly possesses a solid fantasy floor thanks to his 5.6 rebounds and 1.8 stocks (combined steals and blocks) per game. His ceiling is also enticing thanks to four outings with at least 20 points in just 10 games.
Players to Trade Him for Who Are Ranked Higher: Payton Pritchard (G – BOS), Scoot Henderson (G – POR)
Trade Away
Jrue Holiday is one of the NBA’s best examples of how an incredibly good player can be a not-so-good fantasy asset. The veteran, who still receives a respectable 30.8 minutes per game, ranks fifth in scoring and fifth in field goal attempts on Boston’s loaded roster.
Holiday’s abilities as a defender, rebounder and passer simply do not translate to enough fantasy points to offset his low-scoring outputs. Scotty Pippen Jr., Carlton Carrington and Chris Paul are all out-scoring Holiday in fantasy points per game.
Find a way to use Holiday’s big name in a trade for a lesser-known, more productive player.
Players to Trade Him for Who Are Ranked Lower: Norman Powell (G – LAC), Dyson Daniels (G – ATL)
Trade For
Amid a miserable 2-10 start, Gradey Dick is the best story to come out of Toronto this season. The former Jayhawk has started every game for a Raptors squad down Scottie Barnes and Immanuel Quickley. He’s made the most of it.
Dick is averaging 20.1 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 0.4 blocks and 1.1 steals on 44.8/37.3/87.4 shooting splits. All improvements over last season.
There’s no reason to believe Dick can’t take another jump in Toronto’s 70 remaining games.
Players to Trade Him for Who Are Ranked Higher: Grayson Allen (G – PHO), Andrew Wiggins (F – GSW)
Trade Away
Portland’s brass should view Donovan Clingan‘s 17-point, 12-rebound, eight-block game on Wednesday as a sign to lean on the rookie and move off of Deandre Ayton. Both Ayton (finger) and Robert Williams (rest) missed Wednesday’s game, but neither is set to miss much time. When they return, Portland is staring down a clunky frontcourt that also includes Jerami Grant.
There’s a chance Ayton will play elsewhere by season’s end. Relying on him in fantasy in the meantime is a mistake.
