As we catapult ourselves towards the first of two “bye apocalypses” in Week 12, managers are making tough decisions on which players they have faith in. With a whopping six teams on bye (Atlanta, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Jacksonville, New Orleans, New York Jets), options were already drawing thin regarding who was available. And then, on top of that, you factor in injuries. It isn’t easy.
Luckily for you, this column is a quick one-stop with the latest updates regarding players who are in danger of missing the week or those who are set to return to injured reserve (IR). Here is a quick rundown of fantasy-relevant options you need to know about.

This is more of a formality update than anything else. Dallas officially placed Dak Prescott on season-ending IR after multiple reports confirmed his hamstring injury was worse than he initially feared.
In his absence, the Cowboys will turn to Cooper Rush for the remainder of the season and perhaps give Trey Lance a look once they are out of contention for the playoffs. Downgrade Dallas receivers accordingly.
Trevor Lawrence has missed the last two games with a shoulder injury and Jacksonville is on bye this upcoming week. Head coach (for now) Doug Pederson expressed optimism that once the team returns, Lawrence will be available in Week 13 against the Houston Texans. The team will provide more information once they resume practicing out of the bye week.
Should Lawrence continue to miss time, Mac Jones would continue to serve as his replacement. Jones has thrown for a paltry 249 yards with zero touchdowns and three interceptions in the past two weeks. Avoid this situation if possible.
During the fourth quarter of the Raiders’ game against Miami, Zamir White left the field with a quadriceps injury and Alexander Mattison suffered an ankle sprain several plays afterward. Ameer Abdullah stepped up to handle the remainder of the Raider’s rushing attempts in mop-up time, with the team trailing by several scores.
In the case of White, this appears to be a re-injury from his Week 9 quad strain. His managers should anticipate him missing some time. Regarding White, it all depends on the severity of the ankle sprain (be it high or low). Either carries the risk of him missing Week 12. More information will be passed along once the team has conducted tests.
Abdullah and rookie waiver wire option Dylan Laube would handle carries for the team in a tough matchup against Denver, should either (or both) players miss time.
Tyjae Spears was removed from Sunday’s contest against Minnesota early on and evaluated for a concussion. After it was confirmed, he was placed into the league’s five-step concussion protocol and should be considered iffy, at best, to play in Week 12. This is his first documented concussion, but as each player reacts differently to brain injuries, it is difficult to determine his status at this point.
If Spears were to miss the game against Houston, Tony Pollard would see the majority of touches, with third-year option Julius Chestnut providing him the occasional breather.
Darnell Mooney was removed from Sunday’s game against Denver with a hamstring injury and came into the contest dealing with an Achilles issue. Injury analysts are stating this could be him attempting to compensate. The general hope is that with the Falcons on bye in Week 12, he could return for Week 13 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler revealed the team doesn’t consider this a “serious” pull, but his managers should watch practice reports once the team returns to decide upon his status.
Puka Nacua made a fantastic diving grab for a touchdown on Sunday and landed hard on his left shoulder and chest out of bounds. Initially down on the ground for several moments, he was taken into the medical tent and assessed before returning to the game on the following drive.
There was initial concern for an AC sprain, given how hard Nacua landed on the turf, but his ability to return suggests he should be OK moving forward. Fellow wideout Cooper Kupp joked later they would work together to land more softly on catches.
Jordan Addison was battling leg cramps all afternoon on Sunday and ended up playing on only 44 of the Viking’s 73 offensive snaps, with a 60% share being his lowest of the season, per ESPN. He left in the fourth quarter and didn’t return to the game.
Head coach Kevin O’Connell said the team was doing everything possible to get Addison back onto the field, but he could not go. Typically, cramps are a hydration issue and players receive an IV for them if possible. We currently don’t foresee this as anything he needs to contend with long-term and expect him to be out there for Week 12 against Chicago.
Jake Ferguson was removed from Monday night’s game in the first quarter and was later ruled out with a concussion. Placed into the league’s five-step concussion protocol, he will face an uphill battle to gain clearance in time for Thursday Night’s contest against Washington.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones stated he “was concerned about Ferguson’s’ concussion, which was pretty obvious.” Curiously, Ferguson missed Friday’s practice with what is described as an “illness,” so we are not sure the two aren’t connected in some fashion. His managers should make alternative plans for Week 12.
