Welcome to Sleeper Picks. Sleeper’s newest offering promised plenty of entertainment and action, and they delivered. We will break down our top three picks for tonight’s NBA action. Sleeper is quickly becoming one of the most popular season-long fantasy platforms, and they are expanding into other areas based on demand. Each week in this space, we’ll talk about some strategy for the new platform while providing our favorite NBA more/less picks.
NBA Sleeper Picks Player Predictions (10/24)
Nikola Jokic (C – DEN): 8.5 1st quarter points
Nikola Jokic scored 9.6 points per first quarter in his last 14 regular season games and is expected to start hot tonight against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Getting Jokic going early opens things up for the rest of the offense, so expect a high usage rate with enough field goal attempts to hit this number, as long as he is efficient from the field. Jokic scored nine or more first quarter points in six of his last seven regular season games. Jab the More on Jokic for Thursday Night Basketball.
Pick: More
Michael Porter Jr. (F – DEN): 4.5 1st quarter points
MPJ was a staple play in this column for first quarter points last season. He hit at least five first quarter points in 19 of his last 25 games played and should continue to click for a good portion of the season. An ultra aggressive Jokic could stymie his ability to put up enough shots to click but is active enough from three point land and the charity stripe to still hit even if he only takes three shots. Mash the More on MPJ for Thursday night’s action.
Pick: More
Luka Doncic (G/F – DAL): 8.5 1st quarter points
Luka was incredible to close the 2032-24 season, averaging 10.3 first quarter points in his last 11 games. It remains to be seen how much the presence of Klay Thompson will eventually affect Luka’s averages, but he should be aggressive enough to start a prime time opener against the San Antonio Spurs. Luka has scored nine or more first quarter points in five of his last six regular season games. Light up the More on Luka for Thursday night against the Spurs.
Pick: More
Writers note: The lines are constantly changing on Sleeper (and sometimes expiring), so there is a high probability that one or all of the numbers may no longer be the same when you open your app. There are excellent values when they are first posted, with the only catch being that they are not all released at the same time. Vigilance could provide a solid return on investment this season, literally.
