Some of my calls last week had big games, none bigger than Brian Thomas Jr. and Tucker Kraft, who both had monster games. Tyrone Tracy also showed up well for me. Unfortunately, Erick All and Dontayvion Wicks ruined some good lineups, but all-in-all, it was a good Week 5. Onto Week 6.
NFL DFS Value Picks to Target: Week 6
DraftKings
Quarterback
Spencer Rattler (QB – NO): $4,000 vs. TB
This pick is 100% about the price tag. At $4,000, SpencerRattler needs to get you 12 points to hit three times the value. His price tag allows you to pay up for all the studs this week. As long as he doesn’t completely wet the bed, you should be fine.
Others to consider: Justin Fields (QB – PIT): $5,800 at LV, Anthony Richardson (QB – IND): $6,000 @ TEN
Running Back
Bucky Irving (RB – TB): $5,400 @ NO
I had Bucky Irving as a value play before the news that Rachaad White was doubtful, now he has become a smash play, so he should get a ton of volume in both the pass and run game. It’s a tough matchup, but I expect the Bucs to get a ton of short fields with Rattler at quarterback, meaning Irving could end up with a muli-touchdown game.
Others to consider: Antonio Gibson (RB – NE): $5,300 vs. HOU
Wide Receiver
Darnell Mooney (WR – ATL): $5,300 @ CAR
The fact DraftKings only raised his price by $500 after his monster performance last week tells you all you need to know about Darnell Mooney. He’s criminally undervalued at $5,300. No, I don’t expect him to drop 30+ points again, but in a great matchup versus the Panthers’ 30th-ranked pass defense DVOA, he should easily pay off his salary.
Others to consider: Jalen Tolbert (WR – DAL): $5,000 vs. DET
Tight End
Zach Ertz (TE – WAS): $3,700 @ BAL
There aren’t a ton of cheap tight-end options this week worth playing, but if forced to choose, let’s go with Zach Ertz. He had eight targets last week, and even though he only caught two of them, it’s the volume I liked. This game is tied for the highest game total on the slate at 52.5, so if Ertz gets 8-to-10 targets again, he could pay off that $3,700 salary.
Defense
Tampa Bay Bucs D/ST: $2,600 @ NO
Don’t overthink it this week. The Bucs get rookie QB Spencer Rattler this week. Coupled with their cheap price tag, they will likely be the highest-owned defense on the slate. There are some decent pay-up options for defense, but if you’re like me and prefer to pay down, click the Bucs and move on.
FanDuel
Quarterback
Daniel Jones (QB – NYG): $6,800 vs. CIN
Unlike DraftKings, FanDuel includes the Sunday night game on their main slate. There is a ton of value in that game, mostly from the Giants’ side — starting with Daniel Jones. The Bengals rank 25th in pass defense DVOA, and with Jones’ rushing upside, his $6,800 price tag is hard to pass up.
Others to consider: Spencer Rattler (QB – NO): $6,000 vs. TB
Running Back
Antonio Gibson (RB – NE): $5,500 vs. HOU
Last week I had Antonio Gibson as one of my values because Rhamondre Stevenson had allegedly lost his start job. Well, Stevenson didn’t start, but had a monster game and killed all my Gibson shares. This week, however, Stevenson has been ruled out completely, which should open the door for Gibson. The Patriots are starting rookie quarterback Drake Maye, which could lead to more check-down passes for Gibson in this game.
Others to consider: Bucky Irving (RB – TB): $5,700 @ NO
Wide Receiver
Wan’Dale Robinson (WR – NYG): $6,300 vs. CIN
Wan’Dale Robinson is the second Giant player in my values column (spoiler alert, there’s another). With Malik Nabers ruled out, Robinson once again becomes the focal point of the Giants’ offense. He has averaged over 10 targets per game over his last three games. He even found the end zone last week. The Giants will be forced to pass to keep up with the Bengals’ offense, which could lead to another big week from Robinson.
Others to consider: Jalen Tolbert (WR – DAL): $6,100 vs. DET
Tight End
Theo Johnson (TE – NYG): $4,900 vs. CIN
Theo Johnson rounds out my trio of Giants on this slate. I’ve had him listed in this column before, but last week was the first time he showed any life, catching five passes for 48 yards. He is still playing the majority of the snaps for the Giants. If he continues to get that type of volume, his price won’t stay in the sub-$5,000 range much longer.
Others to consider: Zach Ertz (TE – WAS): $5,000 @ BAL
Defense
Tampa Bay Bucs D/ST: $3,700 @ NO
I’m playing the Bucs defense on both DraftKings and FanDuel this week. The price is good on both sites and I don’t believe Rattler is ready to be an NFL starter in this league. I expect a few turnovers and he will take some unnecessary sacks.
