GameBlazers – A Whole New Way to Play Daily Fantasy

GameBlazers – A Whole New Way to Play Daily Fantasy

Welcome to GameBlazers. GameBlazers is one of the most exciting new entrants to the DFS arena. The best way to describe GameBlazers is that it combines elements of Daily Fantasy, Dynasty, and Madden Ultimate Team to create a unique offering. Instead of a salary cap, you open digital athlete item packs to gain players to add to your roster, build a team, and play for cash prizes. Athlete Items last for a minimum of a year with the ability to extend contracts or place Franchise Tags, so you truly get a unique GM experience.

Getting started

Once you sign up and finish registration, you will be prompted to select a pack of athlete items. This initial pack contains only untradeable items but does allow you to preview the contents before you select. This is really helpful as you can plan ahead and make a decision based on the items you will be receiving. I selected the pack with a legendary item, who happened to be Patrick Mahomes.

Entering contests

Once you have selected your starter pack you are eligible to enter one of the contests in the lobby. Athlete items may only be used in one contest at a time. Duplicate players are not allowed in the same contest, even if you have the player in question in multiple rarities.

Contests

Each athlete item has an associated multiplier that will affect a players final score for any given week. Examples from my starter pack include Patrick Mahomes (1.4x), Derek Carr (1.5x), Nico Collins (1.0x), and Ladd McConkey (1.2x). Users are able to utilize a Boost to increase the multiplier of a user item. More details on boosts can be found here.

Item types

There are two types of athlete items: Franchise Items and Expiring Items. Expiring Items are like they sound and expire 12 months after the pack open date. Franchise Items exist for the duration of the athlete’s career. The way to distinguish between the two is by the Franchise Tag in the top left corner of the item.

Franchise Items can be found in all packs, but there is an increased chance with the higher rarity, higher priced packs. Users can also obtain Franchise Tags in packs or via the Franchise Pass. The Franchise Tag allows you to permanently change an Expiring Item into a Franchise Item.

There are also Modifier Items that allow you to permanently boost the multiplier of an athlete item (Boost), permanently change an Expiring Item into a Franchise Item (Franchise Tag), or extend the life on an expiring item by three months (Contract Extension)

Pack Types

There are five different types of packs: Fortify ($5), Common ($10), Rare ($30). Epic ($75), and Legendary ($175). The probability breakdown can be found here.

Marketplace

The marketplace allows for the buying and selling of Items. There is not currently a trading feature. GameBlazers takes a five percent commission from all purchases on the Marketplace.
