9 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Stashes Ahead of Week 7 (2024)

Week 7 marks the halfway point in the regular season of our fantasy leagues. Seven weeks from now we’re either moving on to the playoffs or pretending not that the only reason we’re in the toilet bowl is bad luck. Today is an excellent day to take control of the next seven weeks. This article contains players rostered under 50% in Yahoo leagues that you should be stashing right now to save yourself the headache of competing on waivers in a few days.

9 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Stashes

Aaron Rodgers (QB – NYJ) – 48% rostered

It hasn’t been overly pretty for Aaron Rodgers so far in his Jets career, and while this season was supposed to be different we still haven’t really seen too many great moments. There were however are few glimmers of life in last week’s loss to the Bills, with Rodgers throwing for a season-high 294 passing yards. The change of offensive play-caller seemed to have a positive effect with a season-high 81% deemed catchable. Now with Davante Adams recruited to Gang Green, Rodgers has the potential to make a fantasy-relevant run at a time when the bye weeks will be fast starting to stack up. In Week 8 the Jets play the Patriots who Rodgers had his highest fantasy finish against when the teams met in Week 3 (QB10).

Matthew Stafford (QB – LAR) – 40% Rostered

Fresh off the bye week and with the return of Cooper Kupp insight Matthew Stafford could potentially have some nice value in the coming weeks with games against the Raiders, Vikings and Seahawks on tap. Jordan Whittington seems primed to take a step and with the Rams defense ranking 30th in both pass and rush defense DVOA they’ll continue to hemorrhage points and put Stafford into pass-heavy scripts. At the very least it can be nice to have a quarterback with job security who is past their bye week.

Jaylen Warren (RB – PIT) – 40% Rostered

The Steelers made a meaningful change at quarterback this week and it can be especially meaningful for Jaylen Warren, with Russell Wilson having led the NFL in checkdown rate when kept clean in 2023. Warren is an excellent pass catcher as well as offering something in the running game that Najee Harris doesn’t. Pittsburgh badly needs Warren’s explosivity in the rushing game with Najee Harris ranking 22nd in explosive run rate among 34 running backs with 50+ attempts and 28th in yards per carry, with a single touchdown this year. Warren seemed on the verge of taking over this backfield last year and with Harris not doing anything impressive, we could see the same thing happen again this year.

Tyler Allgeier (RB – ATL) – 38% Rostered

I can’t fathom how Tyler Allgeier put up 18 rushing attempts for 105 yards and a touchdown in Week 6 and he has only gone from 30% rostered to 38% rostered. Allgeier has had a coincidental 38% of the running back touches for the Falcons and looked excellent while doing so, averaging 5.5 yards per carry, equalling Bijan Robinson in big runs (3), and picking up only one fewer first down than Robinson (18). Allgeier would be a top-12 running back every week if Robinson picked up an injury, but he’s also an every-week flex consideration and should be rostered in 100% of leagues.

Kimani Vidal (RB – LAC) – 14% Rostered

Last week in this column Kimani Vidal was recommended when he was less than 5% rostered. A week later Vidal has picked up a smattering of steam after catching a 30-yard touchdown catch for his very first touch in the NFL. Vidal isn’t about to take over this backfield, he only played 19 snaps to JK Dobbins‘s 56, who ran very well against a good Broncos defense, but Vidal is a must-roster player right now. The Chargers placed Gus Edwards on injured reserve and it would be a surprise to see Edwards supplant Vidal now as Edwards has looked unimpressive for almost an entire calendar year. Edwards ranked 58th out of 59 RBs with 2.97 YPC and just a single missed tackle forced on 38 attempts. Vidal isn’t a perfect prospect but if anything happened to Dobbins, he’d be assured of a lot of work in a run-heavy offense.

JuJu Smith-Schuster (WR – KC) – 45% Rostered

Before the Chiefs bye week, JuJu Smith-Schuster washed away the washed accusations to put up seven catches for 130 and 20 PPR points, despite not finding the end zone. Out of passers with 25 or more dropbacks, Patrick Mahomes ranks 39th in average depth of target at 5.2 yards, a simply perplexing number that frustrates fantasy managers but benefits Smith-Schuster no end. Smith-Schuster has slipped perfectly into the vacated Rashee Rice role and while he likely doesn’t produce to such a high level consistently Mahomes needs someone to dink and dunk to, and the middle of the field is no place for a slite player like Xavier Worthy. Smith-Schuster should be picked up now before he costs you more in the coming weeks.

DeMario Douglas (WR – NE) – 40% Rostered

It took one game with Drake Maye for DeMario Douglas to score his first career touchdown, and it shouldn’t be a surprise to see that relationship flourish after Douglas was irrelevant with Jacoby Brissett. Maye got the ball out to his pass-catchers at a catchable pass rate of 70%, much better than the 65% Brissett had managed over his previous three starts. Douglas, like all Patriots players, struggled through the miserable offense in 2023, but still managed five top-36 weekly finishes in his 13 games, along with averaging 2.2 yards per route, which ranked 28th best among wide receivers with 70 or more targets. Now with Brissett finding his feet in the NFL, a reliable outlet could be very useful for him.

Hunter Henry (TE – NE) – 29% Rostered

Speaking of New England Patriots, Hunter Henry is coming off a three-catch performance that turned into 41 yards and a touchdown. Henry hasn’t been incredible this year, but again if we believe Maye can be better for fantasy purposes then it’s worth considering in the tight end wasteland that is waivers. Henry plays the Jaguars in London this weekend, who got shellacked by Cole Kmet and if Henry has another nice week you can bet he’ll be a feature in Week 8 waiver columns.

Green Bay Packers D/ST – 46% Rostered

In Week 8, the Packers play the Jacksonville Jaguars, who may or may not be without Doug Pederson pending his second-straight London game and a frankly miserable 2024 campaign so far. The Packers have had the third-most interceptions and are one of eight teams to score a pick-six. With the Jaguars spiralling, we should pick up the Packers for this reason alone.
