3 Fantasy Football Trades to Propose Week 7 (2024)

From now until the fantasy trade deadline, we will show you trades to propose based on our Trade Value Chart. These trades will provide more value for your team down the stretch run on the way to a fantasy championship.

3 Fantasy Football Trades to Propose Week 7 (2024)

James Cook (RB – BUF) for Amon-Ra St. Brown (WR – DET)

Bills running back James Cook has had a great start to the season. Through his first five games, he totaled 432 yards and scored five times, which is just one off his entire total from last season. He’s still a top-10 running back when it comes to fantasy scoring despite missing last week. But in that missed game, and on Monday night no less, he might have allowed rookie backup Ray Davis to show why the latter should get more carries. Davis totaled 97 rushing yards and 55 receiving yards against the Jets, both of which were more than Cook has totaled in any game this year.

This isn’t to say Davis will take over the job completely. But the days of Cook getting 19-20 carries per game, which he’s done twice this season, might be over and he won’t be able to produce at RB1 levels without that volume. Couple Davis’ mini-breakout with the arrival of new receiver Amari Cooper, and there’s suddenly more mouths to feed in Buffalo.

Instead, go for an elite receiving option who is going through a bit of a slump but still producing. Amon-Ra St. Brown’s fantasy managers have some reason to be frustrated after spending a first-round pick on the Lions receiver. He’s totaled more than 75 yards just once this season. His 9.3 yards per catch is almost two fewer yards than his career average and he’s barely a top-25 fantasy receiver so far.

But, despite the low yardage and average, he’s scored in his last three games and the Lions will continue a streak of playing indoors that will see them play outside a dome just once from now until Christmas. So buy the dip now on St. Brown while trying to get maximum value for Cook.

Garrett Wilson (WR – NYJ) for Aaron Jones (RB – MIN)

Just when Garrett Wilson’s fantasy managers were feeling good about their pick, the Jets had to go out and rain on their parade. This week’s trade for Davante Adams will undoubtedly cut into the progress Wilson was making, especially over the last few weeks. He totaled 100+ yards and a touchdown in each of the last two games, which propelled him into the top 20 in fantasy scoring among receivers.

What can we expect from Wilson going forward? Well if you look at the last time Adams, Aaron Rodgers and Allen Lazard were on the same team (Green Bay, 2021), Adams dominated with 169 targets with running back Aaron Jones (more on him later) next with 65. Lazard was next with 60 and the forgettable Marquez Valdes-Scantling checked in with 55. Should we expect an exact repeat in New York? No. But it’s also not beyond Rodgers to heavily favor ‘his’ guys in Adams and Lazard over Wilson.

Instead, think ahead and get one of the best running backs in fantasy on one of the highest-scoring offenses in the league. Former Packers-now-Vikings running back Aaron Jones was supposed to be on the decline after Green Bay essentially chose to sign Josh Jacobs over retaining Jones. But Jones hasn’t lost a step, averaging 4.9 yards per carry on the season, which is right in line with his career mark of 5.0. Before his hip injury in Week 5, Jones had already tallied over 500 total yards and was a top-10 fantasy running back. He had tallied at least 14 touches in every game but one and was operating as a true workhorse.

He did have the bye week in Week 6 to rest and recover. Even if he misses Week 7 as well, he’ll be ready to go for the rest of the season and potentially carry your fantasy team.

Kyler Murray (QB – ARI) and Chuba Hubbard (RB – CAR) for Amari Cooper (WR – BUF) and David Njoku (TE – CLE)

This late in the fantasy season is all about opportunity. Whether it’s an injury that’s given a backup more playing time or a trade that opens up more targets in the passing game, there is no shortage of depth chat fluctuations to pay attention to.

This particular trade is the epitome of that.

On one hand, Panthers running back Chuba Hubbard has been a pleasant surprise for his fantasy managers. He’s totaled at least 90 rushing yards in his last four games and is a top-10 running back. And if he didn’t have the highest-drafted rookie running back behind him, he could be a player you could ride toward a fantasy championship.

But rookie Jonathon Brooks is on track to return this season, which will cut into Hubbard’s workhorse role, so it’s better to use our trade analyzer and sell high now than wait. Murray is a good throw-in as he might be without stud receiver Marvin Harrison for the foreseeable future with a concussion. But even with Harrison, Murray’s been a low-end QB1 and is expendable.

In return, target a couple of players who should see boosts to their fantasy value. New Bills receiver Amari Cooper is probably happier to get out of Cleveland than his fantasy managers. Cooper was in the midst of a down year thanks to the ongoing play of quarterback Deshaun Watson. He now has Josh Allen to throw him the ball downfield and accurately. There’s no reason Cooper shouldn’t be able to immediately start producing.

Stuck in Cleveland is tight end David Njoku. He still has Watson to play with (for now) but with Cooper gone, Njoku moves up the pecking order when it comes to the passing game. He was already seeing five targets per game before Cooper was traded and should see at least that going forward. In a year where fantasy scoring for tight ends is down, Njoku has one of the brightest futures.
