As always, we’re here breaking down significant player injuries from this weekend in terms of fantasy football outlooks. I’ll provide an update on the injury as well as advice for impacted fantasy managers. Let’s dive in.
Luckily, Jordan Love is squarely in the “You’re not dropping him and if he’s active you’re starting him” category. He reportedly avoided anything major, but if you roster Love you should add an insurance quarterback off the waiver wire.
Matthew Stafford against the Seahawks next is a great alternative. If Love misses time, all Packers receiving options are downgraded. Malik Willis completed 25 total passes across two starts this season.
Drake Maye is in the concussion protocol. Don’t hold your breath for a Week 9 return. If you’re in a fantasy league with 12 teams or fewer and start just one quarterback, you can comfortably drop Maye to the waiver wire.
Jacoby Brissett under center knocks all Patriots offensive players down a peg in terms of fantasy value. If Brissett starts, run to the waiver wire for the Titans’ D/ST and stream them against the Patriots.
Mason reportedly re-aggravated his shoulder and was pulled from Sunday night’s game after six carries.
We’re not dropping Mason yet. However, with Christian McCaffrey‘s return looming, the 49ers on a bye in Week 9 and Isaac Guerendo looking extremely capable, there’s a legitimate chance Mason’s days as a fantasy starter are over.
Christ Kirk is out for the season, Brian Thomas Jr. is getting an MRI on his ribs and Gabe Davis left Sunday’s game with a shoulder injury. Thomas is not droppable. With Kirk out for the season, hang on to Davis. These injuries will likely increase Evan Engram‘s target share.
2023 sixth-round pick Parker Washington is a fine speculative add, but I wouldn’t expect much. Trevor Lawrence shouldn’t be rostered in standard leagues at this point.
Stefon Diggs left Sunday’s game with a non-contact knee injury. Hopefully, he’ll be back soon. In the meantime, though, with Diggs and Nico Collins sidelined, Tank Dell is a strong starting option in all formats, same with Dalton Schultz.
John Metchie is my speculative add here. He’s a 2022 second-round pick who missed a season battling leukemia. Reports out of Texans camp this offseason noted him looking sharp, so this should be a great opportunity for Metchie. As for C.J. Stroud, I’m not discounting him much, if at all. He’s proven he can put up points regardless of what’s around him.
A defensive back on the fantasy football injury report?
Well, Jaire Alexander’s injury has immediate implications. He has a long-standing reputation as one of the best cornerbacks in the game and underwent an MRI for a knee injury. The injury reportedly isn’t serious, but Jared Goff‘s stock would see a boost if Alexander.
