Fantasy Football Injury Report & Week 8 Outlook (2024)
Jayden Daniels (QB – WAS)
Jayden Daniels left Monday’s game with a rib injury and Commanders head coach Dan Quinn is reportedly hopeful Daniels returns next weekend.
Marcus Mariota took Daniels’ place and completed 18-of-25 passes for 205 yards and two touchdowns. Should Daniels miss a game or two, I would downgrade Commanders weapons slightly, but not enough that I’m benching Terry McLaurin or Brian Robinson.
If Daniels is your only quarterback, I’d certainly be looking for another one on the waiver wire. I don’t hate Bo Nix against the Panthers next weekend.
Deshaun Watson (QB – CLE) & Dorian Thompson-Robinson (QB – CLE)
Deshaun Watson is out for the year with a ruptured Achilles tendon. The extent of Thompson-Robinson’s finger injury is unclear.
Should Thompson-Robinson start for Cleveland, David Njoku and Cedric Tillman get a boost. Thompson-Robinson’s first seven targets on Sunday went to either Njoku or Tillman.
Jameis Winston, on the other hand, spread the ball out more. Should Winston start, Njoku is still a starting tight end in most formats, but I’d need to see more from Tillman before rolling him out. If you can, I’d bench Jerry Jeudy until he proves capable of a larger workload.
Aidan O’Connell (QB – LV)
Aidan O’Connell is heading to injured reserve (IR) with a thumb injury, meaning Gardner Minshew is likely back under center. Brock Bowers remains a strong starting option at tight end, but after that, I’m avoiding any Raiders pass-catcher.
JuJu Smith-Schuster (WR – KC)
JuJu Smith-Schuster was ruled out of Sunday’s game with a hamstring injury and reportedly will not play in Week 8. His absence will likely make rookie WR Xavier Worthy a viable fantasy start sit option when the Chiefs take on the Raiders next weekend.
Jalin Hyatt (WR – NYG)
Jalin Hyatt suffered a cracked rib and there’s no clear news on when he may return. Wan’Dale Robinson is still a viable flex candidate in PPR formats. Robinson is averaging nearly 10 targets per game.
San Francisco 49ers
- Brandon Aiyuk suffered a season-ending injury.
- George Kittle is day-to-day with a foot injury.
- Deebo Samuel is in the hospital with pneumonia.
- Chris Conley has a sprained ankle.
The 49ers have been dealt some excruciating injury luck this year. In terms of how it will play out for your fantasy football team, Jauan Jennings and Ricky Pearsall are must-adds in most formats. Should either of them step into a larger role in this Kyle Shanahan offense it could be quite lucrative. We saw Jennings’ 40+ point performance in Week 3 with Samuel and Kittle inactive.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- Chris Godwin believed to have suffered dislocated ankle
- Mike Evans leaves Monday Night Football, to have MRI on hamstring
Godwin was carted off the field after suffering an apparent serious injury in the final minute of the game. He had an air cast on his leg, and initial fears regarding his injury likely indicate it could be a season-ending ailment. Evans entered Monday’s game nursing a hamstring injury, and it appears he may have aggravated the injury. Further testing this week will likely determine if he is a candidate for injured reserve.
