Fantasy Football Hot Takes: Mike Evans, Sam LaPorta, Tyrone Tracy (Week 6)

That’s more like it. Although the perfect prediction escaped me again in Week 5, a couple of them were so close I could taste it. Like a pie cooling on the window sill in a Disney movie, my wagging index finger dangled over the “drafts” screen on Twitter. The Jets nearly completed a comeback win over the undefeated Vikings through their dominant defense and Queen Elizabeth’s ghost was seen floating around Sam Darnold all day. Too bad they didn’t. Or was it? Garrett Wilson was targeted 22 times and completed the receptions and touchdown part of the forecast. The loss spurred Woody Johnson to drop the scythe on the Robert Saleh era, just as I predicted would happen.

Eerie, spooky stuff is already happening in October. Tucker Kraft was the overall TE1 with a pair of touchdowns. Incredible. It’s too bad Jordan Love and the rest of the Packers offense didn’t have it clicking to really stomp the Rams well enough. The feeling is that I’m tracing around the perfect hot takes. Week 6 looks like a chalk fest on paper. Not so fast, mis amigos. I’m dropping a Carolina reaper in the cauldron, cackling maniacally in a pointy hat. The curse is over, let’s fly like monkeys.

Fantasy Football Hot Takes: Week 6

Jaguars Upset Bears on CCTV for Second Win; Trevor Lawrence Is a Top-Five QB with 350 Yards and Three Touchdowns

The London series is entertaining and good for the growth of the game. If we can look past the ungodly hour they kick off, the rest is a nice product compared to years past. The Jaguars have English roots through the Khan ownership group, thus they have graced the field in Greenwich Mean Time more than any other team. Trevor Lawrence got his boys in the win column in a thriller last week. I think Jacksonville is just getting warmed up on offense. The Jaguars’ defense is awful, lending to the shootout narrative at Tottenham Hotspurs Stadium. Rookie phenom Brian Thomas Jr. is already a force of nature down the field. Christian Kirk is also warming up. While the Bears should hang around on the scoreboard, I don’t know if they can stop an offense balanced out by the likes of Tank Bigsby.

Tampa Bay Patches Up After Milton by Forcing Four Turnovers and Crushes New Orleans by Double Digits; Mike Evans Owns Saints Again with 100 Yards and Two Touchdowns

I wish everyone in Hurricane Milton’s path the best. It’s unfathomably scary to imagine living through that type of destruction. The Buccaneers flew into New Orleans earlier in the week to avoid landfall and get acclimated to the Big Easy. The Saints were dismantled by the Chiefs on Monday night and must now take on the first-place Bucs without Derek Carr. Spencer Rattler should scare the daylights out of Saints fans. Tampa Bay should annihilate New Orleans in this one. Baker Mayfield continues to dice up defenses with Chris Godwin in the slot. Mike Evans is heading to the Hall of Fame. He is a walking touchdown. Bucky Irving and Rachaad White are more complimentary than previously thought. That’s good news for a pass funnel Bucs defense that would like some more time resting on the sidelines.

Alvin Kamara is such a vibe. What a marvelous talent. His presence in the receiving game will be essential to Rattler’s debut success. The rookie must also find Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed early, often and on time. Klint Kubiak will have them ready with some tricks up their sleeves, but it remains to be seen if Rattler has enough composure to win at this level.

Sammy Ballgame Wakes Up and Chooses Violence Upon Cowboys with 20 PPR Points; Lions Drop 40 in Big D

Reverse jinxing the Cowboys seems to work well. I did think the Steelers would bully them up front. They did, but I should have known 17 points was the maximum score possible for an Arthur Smith offense in primetime. Dallas welcomes Detroit into Jerry World in Week 6. Let’s hope the fireworks pop off. The Lions offense is incredibly versatile. Ben Johnson has weapons galore to fire off in all directions. This is the moment we finally see Sam LaPorta take over a football game. He has laid dormant through four games, but rest assured Johnson spent the bye week drawing up filthy designs to eviscerate the Dallas coverage.

Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb are in line for a massive game, too. The Jalen Tolbert game wasn’t a fluke; he might be Dallas’ No. 2 WR even after Brandin Cooks comes back. The Rico Dowdle romp through Pittsburgh might have been a fluke. I hope it wasn’t. Detroit is very tough against the run, while Dallas has been inconsistent in opening lanes for Dowdle and Ezekiel Elliott. You DFS players might like getting freaky with a tight end dueling banjos lineup with LaPorta and Jake Ferguson. It’s primed to hit big with maximum leverage on the field.

Big Blue Continues to Roll with 200 Rushing Yards in Two-Score Win Over Bengals; Tyrone Tracy Counts for 125 Yards and Scores Twice

Are the Giants good? They certainly looked the part in a road win over Seattle. They ran all over Mike Macdonald’s defense without Malik Nabers, who remains in concussion protocol at the time of writing. Tyrone Tracy is a converted wide receiver from Purdue, but he was chewing up the rushing yards against the Seahawks. Cincinnati’s run defense is putrid. Even if Devin Singletary is back on the field, his load figures to be a lot lighter next to Tracy. Daniel Jones‘ mobility appears to be warming up, while the G-Men lead the NFL in sacks. This is another game with shootout potential. Joe Burrow tossed five touchdowns last week in a loss. Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins reminded everyone how rich they deserve to be. As much as I like Tracy going forward, Chase Brown might have a higher ceiling this week. This is especially true if Burrow is under duress from this Giants pass rush.
