In the ever-evolving landscape of fantasy football, identifying value in player trades can make or break your season. This week, we’re diving into some pivotal decisions regarding Saints wide receiver Rashid Shaheed, Panthers wideout Diontae Johnson and Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson.
While Shaheed’s rising stock has many wondering if he deserves more recognition alongside teammate Chris Olave, Johnson’s potential declining trajectory calls for a quick exit strategy. Meanwhile, Richardson’s situation raises questions about patience versus panic. Let’s break down these players’ current standings and what strategies to employ moving forward. Dynasty Trade Advice
Buy: Rashid Shaheed (WR – Saints)
Per Destination Devey Fantasy Football‘s trinity score, Rashid Shaheed and Chris Olave are neck and neck, with Shaheed netting the higher score of 6.93 compared to Olave’s 6.63. Shaheed averages 14.30 PPR points per game while Olave is putting up 11.24. Looking at their current FantasyPros dynasty expert consensus rankings (ECR) we see a different story for their value as Olave is currently WR12 and Shaheed is down at WR55. Should there be that big of a gap between them? I don’t think so.
Using Dynasty Daddy‘s trade database, Shaheed has been traded for the following in the past couple of days:
- 2025 second-round pick
- 2025 second-round & a 2026 third-round pick
- 2026 second-round pick
- Darnell Mooney
I am sending all of those offers to Shaheed’s managers right now if that is his going price. One trade saw Shaheed, Tank Dell and a 2027 third-round for Olave. If I can move Olave for Shaheed and some kind of a plus, I am smashing my phone to make that deal.
Sell: Diontae Johnson (WR – Panthers)
Sell Diontae Johnson and sell him quickly. With Adam Thielen out and now Xavier Legette dealing with an injury, he is the top target for Andy Dalton. He will produce and be someone you can plug and play each week but we all know his nagging injury history, plus he has been the subject of many trade rumors. If he is traded, he surely won’t be in the same position he is now with being the top target on his team. In PPR scoring, he is currently WR25 on the season but WR34 in points per game (12.4).
I will gladly take the hit on production to get into a different receiver I feel more comfortable with going forward. My top targets are Keon Coleman, Christian Kirk and Shaheed. I’m also interested in taking a shot on Ja’Lynn Polk as the season progresses.
Hold: Anthony Richardson (QB – Colts)
As a manager with many shares of Anthony Richardson, I feel the frustration. Injury concerns are again popping up with him missing Week 5 and potentially Week 6. He has not looked great throwing the ball, especially in the short and intermediate areas. Joe Flacco has played better than Richardson this season. Head coach Shane Steichen said, as expected, Richardson will resume as the Colts starter once fully healthy. I cannot see the Colts moving on from him after this season. I’m not worried about him being out of a starting job anytime soon.
No need to hit the panic button just yet, though, so be patient and don’t panic sell for subpar value. For all teams with Richardson, I am putting more emphasis on having safer options in the quarterback room going forward.
