Dynasty Trade Advice: Rashee Rice, Travis Etienne, Mark Andrews (Week 5)

When looking at the ever-shifting landscape of dynasty fantasy football, finding the right balance between buying, selling and holding players is key to success. As we dive into the 2024 season, one player emerging as a must-buy is Rashee Rice, the top wide receiver target for Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. On the flip side, Travis Etienne’s underwhelming performance so far makes him a prime candidate to sell, especially with his current value outpacing his production. Meanwhile, Mark Andrews, despite his struggles, is a firm hold until he bounces back. Let’s dive deeper into these strategies and how they can reshape your dynasty squad.

Dynasty Trade Advice

Buy: Rashee Rice (WR – KC)

Rashee Rice has been elite in 2024 as Patrick Mahomes‘ top target, leading the team with 29 targets. He has proven to be a true difference maker averaging north of 21 PPR points per game (PPG) and potentially on his way to a top-five finish. He is easily the top target for rebuilding teams, but as a contender, I’m also checking in with Rice managers to see the current price. I firmly have him as a top-10 dynasty WR at this point.

For rebuilders, I would pivot off players like Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave, Brandon Aiyuk or Drake London for Rice. Get those points off your team and look forward to 2025. If I’m still holding my 2025 or 2026 first-round picks, I would happily offer one up for Rice right now. If you could add a second or third-round pick to a WR in the range of Zay Flowers, Jameson Williams or Jordan Addison I would also be fine doing that. Sell: Travis Etienne (RB – JAX)

Finishing as the RB3 in both PPR and half-PPR formats, expectations for another huge season were bound to follow. Unfortunately to this point, Travis Etienne has failed to deliver. Right now, he sits at the RB24 and has only scored 12+ PPR points twice. He has received all the receiving work for RBs outside of one target to D’Ernest Johnson. His current value, per KeepTradeCut, of RB13 makes absolutely zero sense to me with his performance through four games. Tank Bigsby has had higher yards per carry (YPC) in three out of four games. The one game he did not, he didn’t log an offensive snap.

If you have Etienne on your roster you are likely looking to make the playoffs but is he helping achieve that? Tony Pollard, James Conner, J.K. Dobbins, Brian Robinson, Aaron Jones, David Montgomery and Derrick Henry are all outscoring Etienne on a PPG basis and are valued lower than Etienne at the moment. Go target any of those names in a deal for Etienne and attempt to get a sweetener on top. I would target Pollard, Jones and Montgomery first.

Hold: Mark Andrews (TE – BAL)

Mark Andrews has been arguably the most disappointing tight end with 3.1 PPR PPG and fewer than three targets per game. I would love to sell him but right now his value is so low he is highly unlikely to return anything of real value. I don’t believe he is toast and lost all of his talent but I am starting just about any other tight end on my roster over him until he snaps out of this terrible play. It’s a matter of when, not if Andrews starts performing like we have seen in past seasons.
