7 Dynasty Stashes to Add Now: Week 5 (2024 Fantasy Football)

It’s that time again when we get to look at the players deeper on rosters or even on the waiver wire to see who we should be stashing on our bench. A lot of fantasy players get complacent during the season and let the bottom of their roster languish. Don’t be that person. Here are some players you can try to add that should help your team in the future.

Dynasty Stashes to Add Now

Jake Browning (QB – CIN)

When it comes to stashing players in dynasty, I focus on quarterbacks and running backs the most. Often, they’re the ones that return the most value in the shortest timeframe. That’s exactly why I’m stashing Jake Browning whenever possible in Superflex leagues.

We saw what Browning was capable of last year when Bengals starting QB Joe Burrow missed time. He was a very serviceable backup, both in the NFL and for fantasy. No one wants to see an injury happen, but if another one occurs, Browning will see a value bump. On top of that, there’s a chance he changes teams in the offseason, potentially boosting his value there, too.

Rasheen Ali (RB – BAL)

The Ravens recently designated Rasheen Ali to return to practice after placing him on injured reserve (IR) earlier this season. That fact alone isn’t enough for me to stash him, but it’s a good part of the puzzle. If he weren’t practicing yet, I’d be concerned, but I’m optimistic. If the team is bringing him back to practice that just means his value boost is right around the corner.

Derrick Henry and Justice Hill have both been pretty good for the Ravens thus far this year. However, both still play a position prone to injury, and the team itself tends to lean on its running backs more than others. These facts added to Ali coming back make him a viable stash candidate. If not for this season, he could be worth something next year as well.

Evan Hull (RB – IND)

Speaking of injuries, Evan Hull is a backup RB on the Colts who are going through an ankle injury to starter Jonathan Taylor. Hull is a second-year RB currently on the practice squad, but it wouldn’t take much for him to see the 53-man roster. Behind the injured starter are Trey Sermon and Tyler Goodson, neither of whom are all that durable themselves. At some point, the team might want to see what they have in the second-year player. Since he’s free to add in dynasty, I’m fine taking that chance on deeper rosters.

Andrei Iosivas (WR – CIN)

My first dynasty stash receiver is the Bengals’ current No. 2 WR in terms of fantasy scoring. This is due to actual No. 2 WR Tee Higgins missing two games, which isn’t going to be sustainable, but it does show just how valuable he is to the offense. Higgins has missed time before and will likely miss time again. Ja’Marr Chase has missed time, too, making Andrei Iosivas all the more valuable as a true No. 3 WR.

If Higgins were to leave the Bengals after this year, Iosivas would vault into the top 30 in dynasty. At the moment, he’s being ranked as the WR64 and could be added for a late-second or early-third round rookie pick. This seems like a steal for a guy with a ton of current value as well as potential value.

Luke McCaffrey (WR – WAS)

Commanders rookie QB Jayden Daniels has been on fire to start 2024. He’s being talked about as the dynasty QB1, or at the very least, in that top tier with Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen. I think that’s a little premature, but if that ends up being true, his surrounding cast should also see a good boost to their value.

Rookie WR Luke McCaffrey hasn’t broken out yet this year. He’s currently fourth on the team in targets, yards and fantasy points at receiver, but that could be changing soon. Veteran Terry McLaurin isn’t going anywhere, but both Olamide Zaccheaus and Noah Brown aren’t exactly fantasy-relevant options. I’m expecting big things from McCaffrey, and they might be coming sooner rather than later.

Rashod Bateman (WR – BAL)

Somehow Rashod Bateman is the WR79 in dynasty rankings, according to FantasyPros’ dynasty expert consensus rankings (ECR), even though he’s the second-best WR option on his team. People think the Ravens don’t pass the ball at all, but they do. They’re 16th in yards and 23rd in attempts through four weeks. While Zay Flowers is the top dog, Bateman is getting plenty of attention as well. He has nine catches on 14 targets for 144 yards and a touchdown. He’s currently WR60 in PPR scoring, far ahead of his WR79 ranking, so I think he’s worth adding.

Brenton Strange (TE – JAX)

Believe it or not, Brenton Strange is the No. 1 TE on the Jaguars at the moment. Much like Iosivas, this is due to the actual starter being hurt. Evan Engram has missed three games and should be returning soon, if not this week. When that happens, Strange should see his cost go down. That’s when I want to buy him.

Engram is great and I think he’ll be the guy there for a few years since he’s signed through 2025. However, Strange is getting a chance to prove his case with Engram missing time. He’s doing well too, catching eight of his 14 targets for 96 yards and a touchdown. He’s currently TE18 on the season — not nothing. If you can add him for cheap, I’m fine doing that on most rosters.
