4 Fantasy Football Burning Questions: Week 8 (2024)

The injuries keep coming. Last week, we saw significant fantasy players go down, some for the rest of the season. With continually replacing players in our lineup, we need to know who could save our season. Let’s analyze some of those potential players in this week’s burning questions.

Fantasy Football Burning Questions: Week 8 (2024)

Are there any wide receivers from the Buccaneers worth starting?

This offense would not have been the same without Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, but the passing game will not be completely gone. Rachaad White will get a lot of touches, especially with Bucky Irving dealing with an injury.

For wide receivers, they have rookie Jalen McMillan, who caught for 1,000 yards in 2022 with Washington, and Trey Palmer, who was the third option for the Bucs last year. It will likely be Sterling Shepard who will be Baker Mayfield‘s favorite target. He will slip into the primary slot receiver role. He’s a veteran entering his ninth season after eight with the Giants. He’s had some big plays and is averaging 11.6 yards per reception this year.

Is there anyone that could step up in the 49ers wide receiver group?

Ricky Pearsall will be the popular choice to step in for the banged-up 49ers. He’s likely not available on the waiver wire, so you might have to look deeper.

Jacob Cowing might be someone to take a chance on. The rookie has explosive speed and great route-running abilities, which he showed at UTEP and Arizona with two 1,000-yard receiving seasons. Last week, Cowing made a couple of big catches with 50 yards on two catches. He’s a boom-or-bust WR4 but has an upside if he gets targets.

What are the expectations for Jameis Winston?

You have to remember that in his last season as a starter in 2019, Jameis Winston threw for over 5,000 yards and 30 touchdowns, finishing as the fantasy QB3. You’ll have to accept he’ll throw interceptions, but the upside is big.

This has the potential to be an excellent week for Winston against Baltimore, who are allowing the third-most fantasy points per game.

I would potentially look to sell high if possible after this week. Of the Browns’ final 10 games, six are against top-nine defenses against the quarterback, including the Dolphins (first), Broncos (third) and Steelers twice (fourth).

What is Cedric Tillman‘s potential?

Cedric Tillman’s performance hangs on Winston. The targets cannot be ignored. He had 12 after only seeing five going into that game.

I wouldn’t expect that same volume or performance with teams now preparing to defend Tillman. How involved David Njoku is will determine Tillman’s performance. If you can get him involved in the middle of the field that could open things up for Tillman.
