27 Players to Buy Low & Sell High (2024 Fantasy Football)

Identifying the right buy-low and sell-high trade candidates is crucial to staying ahead of your league. In this article, we dive into the top trade targets for Week 5, with insights and recommendations from Featured Pros analysts. Whether you’re looking to capitalize on a player’s early-season breakout or snag a struggling star, these tips will help you maximize your team’s potential moving forward.

Week 5 Trade Candidates: Buy Low

Who is your favorite buy-low trade candidate at this point in the season, and why? Also, who are you willing to give up for him?

Jordan Love (QB – GB) | Jayden Reed (WR – GB)

“I like to break the season down into quarters, and for the next five games, the Green Bay Packers have an amazing schedule (Rams, Cardinals, Texans, Jaguars, and Lions). Jordan Love and Jayden Reed should have a field day in these matchups, and I would love to find a way to get this hookup for my team.”
Dr. Roto (FullTime Fantasy)

Kyle Pitts (TE – ATL)

“Call me a glutton for punishment, but I’m sending offers for Kyle Pitts. I just think his value is about as low as it can go these days, but tight end has been one of those more chaotic position groups in fantasy this year. I do think he rights the ship and starts to connect with QB Kirk Cousins, but I’m only buying him if I have someone else I can start until that happens. If I can send a bench RB or WR for him, I’d gladly do that to take the chance.”
Andrew Hall (FantasyPros)

Amari Cooper (WR – CLE)

Amari Cooper is the WR41, averaging 8.7 half-point PPR fantasy points per game, totaling 5.5 or fewer in all but one contest. However, he is prime to break out of his poor start. The veteran is getting the volume, ranking sixth in the NFL with 37 targets, seeing at least eight every game. Furthermore, Cooper leads the team in end zone targets (three) and first-read target share (30.2%) this season (per Fantasy Points Data). His next two opponents are the Washington Commanders and the Philadelphia Eagles. The two NFC East teams have surrendered the most and second-most fantasy points per game to wide receivers this year. Meanwhile, Cooper could get moved before the trade deadline. I would happily sell high on Jordan Addison for the veteran receiver.”
Mike Fanelli (FantasyPros)

Brian Thomas Jr. (WR – JAC)

Brian Thomas Jr.is a priority buy-low target for me at the moment. To be clear, he’s a buy-high, but you’ll be buying him lower than you should be able to. Through the first month of the season, BTJ is the half-ppr WR15 in a struggling Jacksonville offense. And while Christian Kirk has more targets and Evan Engram remains sidelined, Thomas still holds the inside track to becoming the Jags’ No. 1 target as the season progresses. We know that rookie WRs typically turn it on in the second half of the season, but Thomas has started hot and has now seen nine targets in back-to-back games. I’d easily send Xavier Worthy, Khalil Shakir, or D’Andre Swift to acquire BTJ today.”
Jeremy Shulman (Fantasy Football Universe)

Tyreek Hill (WR – MIA)

“Buy Tyreek Hill yesterday. Like, get him on your team right now. Since Tua went down, he has struggled significantly with 6, 7, and 8 fantasy points over the last three weeks. Either one of two things will happen: 1. Tua will return, vaulting Tyreek Hill back to top 12 WR status, or 2. he will be traded to another team… vaulting Tyreek Hill back to top 12 WR status. The point is he won’t be like this for long, so take your opportunity to get him on your team.”
Morgan Colby (The Fantasy Champions)

Tyreek Hill (WR – MIA) | Jaylen Waddle (WR – MIA)

“Once Tim Boyle is the QB for the Dolphins, both Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle will return to their glory numbers. Tim Boyle is the most underrated QB in NFL history, next to Kurt Warner, and both of those weapons will get deep downfield with big plays again. As long as Tyler Huntley and Skylar Thompson take snaps, Hill and Waddle will see their values decline. The second Tim Boyle is the QB, both WRs will return to the glory days. I would try to get Jaylen Waddle for an RB like Rachaad White or Bucky Irving; with that being said, you can let both WRs’ values drop another two weeks since Huntley is starting Week 5, and the Dolphins’ Bye is Week 6.”
Muntradamus (Beast Dome)

Jonathon Brooks (RB – CAR)

“I’m buying low on Carolina Panthers rookie running back Jonathon Brooks. As of today, he is still on the IR, but he could see his practice window open any day. Since Andy Dalton took over as quarterback for the Panthers, they have looked like an entirely different offense and have begun to produce some fantasy-relevant players. One of those players who has looked good was Chuba Hubbard. Hubbard has never been anything more than a middling committee back during his NFL career, and if he can look like a solid fantasy asset, I can’t wait to see what the talented Brooks can do once he gets the chance. I’m willing to give up Najee Harris, Jerome Ford, Devin Singletary, and even Rachaad White to acquire Brooks before he is activated. Go out and get him now; his buy-low window is going to close once the Panthers officially open his practice window.”
Aaron St Denis (Fantasy Football Universe)

Dalvin Cook (RB – DAL)

“Here’s a Ringo longshot special for larger leagues (12+) with deep rosters that not too many fantasy analysts are talking about, Dalvin Cook. The Cowboys’ struggling run game might be ready for a change. Don’t be surprised if they give Cook a shot to add some sizzle to their offense. Remember, it was only two years ago when Dallas’ RBBC with Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard produced RB 19 and RB 7, respectively. I guess you could say Ringo doesn’t think Cook will burn you, or that Cook is cooked, or that there are too many Cooks (Brandin and Dalvin) in the Cowboys’ kitchen. I’ll see myself out now, haha! Cook should be available in most leagues as a free agent and is worth a speculative waiver add, imo.”
Mark Ringo (Sleepers and Busts)

J.K. Dobbins (RB – LAC)

“J.K. Dobbins started out the season extremely hot, but he has cooled down during the past two weeks. Now, he’s on a BYE week, and this is the perfect time to try to inquire about adding him to your roster. Jim Harbaugh is giving him the lion’s share of the rushing attempts in this backfield, and that won’t stop all season long. See if you can dangle a player like Jaylen Waddle, Amari Cooper, or Jared Goff to acquire Dobbins.”
Amar Desai (Sports Aldente)

Bijan Robinson (RB – ATL)

“Let’s get something straight: Bijan Robinson has not been bad to start the 2024 season – now, he hasn’t lived up to the 1st Round price tag everyone paid for him on draft day, but he’s been stable, posting 11+ points in every game so far this season. That comes even despite having just one TD and two touches at the goal-line (inside the 5) on the year in large part because the Falcons’ offense has run just 29 offensive plays in the red zone (sixth-fewest) and 13 plays inside the 10-yard line (fifth-fewest); one of which was a 19-yard receiving TD for Bijan called back on penalty this past week, which would’ve drastically changed the narrative of his game. To have made matters harder for him, Bijan and the Falcons faced the single-hardest SOS among RBs to open up the season (which allowed 20% fewer PPG to RBs than the league average), including matchups against Pittsburgh (2nd-fewest PPG), Philadelphia (13th-fewest), Kansas City (fewest), and New Orleans (12th-fewest). It gets a LOT easier for him going forward, drawing the 2nd-easiest SOS over the next four games, the fifth-easiest remaining schedule, and the 11th-easiest playoff schedule (not to look ahead too far). Now is the perfect time to make a pitch to a Bijan owner who may be a bit underwhelmed with their 1st round pick’s production, offering up an RB2 (i.e., Jordan Mason) plus additional capital to make a potential ‘home run swing’ on what should be an elite-RB1 down the stretch.”
Tyler Alexander (Fantasy Football 101)

Tee Higgins (WR – CIN)

“At this point of the season, we know the Bengals’ offense is good, and the defense is bad, which means the Bengals will have to score a lot of points in order to stay in games. Tee Higgins is a great player, and now that he and Burrow are both finally healthy, we may finally see the 2022 version of Tee. If he’s going to get 8-10 targets a game like he did last week and start scoring some touchdowns, Higgins has the potential to be a WR2. Right now, his value is a mid-WR3, and I’d be willing to trade away a Zay Flowers or Michael Pittman for him.”
Joey Meinerding (Fantasy Dink)

Pat Freiermuth (TE – PIT)

“While Pat Freiermuth isn’t exactly lighting the world on fire, he is giving consistent production to his fantasy managers which is something that cannot be said for much of the TE position this year. Freiermuth has had at least four catches in each game thus far and produced his first touchdown last week versus the Colts. With how bad the position has been this year, it may be worth it to try and take a punt on the Steelers TE. Any trade involving Kareem Hunt, Courtland Sutton, or maybe even Keenan Allen could be enough to get a deal done.”
Ed Birdsall (Talking Points Sports)

Josh Jacobs (RB – GB)

“Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs is a buy-low candidate for me right now. He is averaging 4.63 yards per carry and is currently on pace to have 1,398 yards. The best part is right now, he is outside the top 25, so I would try to buy him for a 2nd in hopes the owner is panicking. Or try to trade Devin Singletary (RB25) or even Jerome Ford (RB22) for him right now. Jacobs is the featured back, and they will continue to feed him the rock.”
Miguel ‘SC’ Romero (Fantasy Football Universe)

Week 5 Trade Candidates: Sell High

Who is your favorite sell-high candidate at this point in the season, and why? Also, who would you try to get in return?

Alvin Kamara (RB – NO)

“The Saints have played better than anticipated, and if I could trade Alvin Kamara now, I would. His value is at its highest point, and trading him could help me upgrade to 2-3 different spots. Maybe a deal like Kenneth Walker, Christian Kirk, and Sam LaPorta for Kamara, lesser WR, and lesser TE would work.”
Dr. Roto (FullTime Fantasy)

Alvin Kamara has been elite to start the season, and he’s once again on a torrid pace in fantasy football. He’s RB1 in PPR leagues right now, and you probably want to hold him. Don’t. As much as I love Kamara, he is 29 years old, and he can’t keep up with this efficiency all season. While he might still produce it, he won’t be at the RB1 pace he is at. Take this as your opportunity to sell high and get some value in return.”
Morgan Colby (The Fantasy Champions)

Derrick Henry (RB – BAL)

“I’m trying to sell Derrick Henry, but I’m probably willing to wait another week if I don’t get the right price right now. Henry was a dominant RB and is RB3 on the season after his RB1 finish last week. It really can’t get much higher than that. If I can pivot down to Barkley or Nabers plus an upside piece, I’m gladly doing that. Henry will return to earth eventually, but it might be after facing a porous Bengals defense in Week 5. If you get a good price, then take it while you can.”
Andrew Hall (FantasyPros)

D’Andre Swift (RB – CHI)

D’Andre Swift was horrendous over the first three weeks, averaging 5.5 half-point PPR fantasy points per game, 1.8 yards per rushing attempt, and 1.43 yards after contact per attempt. Yet, he suddenly became good because of a matchup against a struggling Los Angeles Rams run defense? Swift scored 26 half-point PPR fantasy points in Week 4, totaling 41.2% of his fantasy production in the passing game after leading the team with seven targets, including three designed targets (per Fantasy Points Data). While he has another great matchup against the Carolina Panthers this week, I would explore trading him and a No. 3 wide receiver for a struggling superstar running back like Bijan Robinson or De’Von Achane.”
Mike Fanelli (FantasyPros)

Travis Etienne Jr. (RB – JAC)

“It’s time to sell Travis Etienne. While I’m buying in on Brian Thomas Jr. I’m selling Etienne, given his inconsistency and lack of production in the passing game. We all coveted Etienne as a dual-threat back in fantasy this season, but that just hasn’t fully materialized. While his targets have been solid, he’s only managed to convert 15 targets into 48 receiving yards. He’s also been uninspiring on the ground, ceding more and more touches to the somehow more explosive Tank Bigsby. While Bigsby won’t outright take over this backfield, he is a threat to increase his workload and turn Etienne into more of a receiving back. If this happens, it’ll mean the current RB26 in half PPR leagues may be sitting at his ceiling rather than his floor. I’d move Etienne for Chase Brown, Joe Mixon, or DeVonta Smith coming off an injury.”
Jeremy Shulman (Fantasy Football Universe)

Sam Darnold (QB – MIN) | Justin Fields (QB – PIT)

“Sell high on overachieving quarterbacks. The two that come to mind are Sam Darnold and Justin Fields who sit as QB4 and QB6 respectively. In his career, Darnold has never maintained a pace anywhere near this level for more than a handful of games and is sure to come back down to earth and settle back in as a mid-range QB2. As for Fields, the way he has been winning is not conducive to him repeating the performance long-term. He has been producing with his arm instead of his legs which is not his strength, in addition to this, much of his production is his own doing as his poor play has put the Steelers in bad spots, leading to him having to put up big numbers to win. There is a real Blake Bortles vibe to Fields this season.”
Aaron St Denis (Fantasy Football Universe)

De’Von Achane (RB – MIA)

“Not only do the Dolphins have no Offensive Line, but Raheem Mostert might be back this week. De’Von Achane is taking way too many hits this early in the season and it is starting to show, as Achane does not look like the explosive player he was early on this season. Expect Mostert to get back into the thick of things as the Dolphins will be a run-heavy team with Huntley at QB, and Huntley will take a lot of goal-line carries away from both Mostert and Achane. I would try to trade Achane for Tyreek Hill or Garrett Wilson, there is no way in the world Achane will be a workhorse RB this season, you might as well get a star WR while you can. Dolphins Bye is Week 6, good time to move Achane now before his value disappears into the Rachaad White/Bucky Irving category.”
Muntradamus (Beast Dome)

Amon-Ra St. Brown (WR – DET)

“It just seems like Amon-Ra St. Brown is being valued higher than his fantasy production, at least when it comes to half pt. ppr leagues. He was never “the go-to-guy” imo, like other elite WRs such as: Chase, Jefferson, and Lamb. He’s not the biggest wide receiver either, so expecting a lot of touchdowns might be overly optimistic. The Lions have so many weapons in Jameson Williams, Sam LaPorta, and Jahmyr Gibbs, that the yardage doesn’t appear to be there like in past years. And without that, St. Brown might not live up to his first round price tag. In return, I would try to get back Ja’Marr Chase, Marvin Harrison Jr., or A.J. Brown (if he’s healthy).”
Mark Ringo (Sleepers and Busts)

Chuba Hubbard (RB – CAR)

“While Chuba Hubbard has been benefitting from the change from Bryce Young to Andy Dalton, his productivity is going to decline soon. Rookie Jonathan Brooks is going to be off the IR list and should be practicing as soon as Week 5. There’s a chance that both running backs can find work in this backfield, but the reality is that once Brooks is ready to go he’ll take the lead. Hubbard’s stock is high and this is the best time to unload him and potentially acquire a player like Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Jake Ferguson, or Ladd McConkey.”
Amar Desai (Sports Aldente)

Patrick Mahomes (QB – KC)

“Putting it simply, Patrick Mahomes is only worth the name value for fantasy. He’s struggled mightily to start the season, failing to hit 17+ points or a top-12 finish in any game so far in 2024, which is only compounding onto a poor end to 2023 where he hadn’t finished as a top-12 fantasy QB in a game since Week 12 last year. And it only gets worse… Mahomes managed to throw an interception and (likely) tear WR Rashee Rice‘s ACL on the same play. It’s not getting any better for Mahomes outside of a major trade for a WR. I’d strongly recommend trying to get what you can out of Mahomes’ name value on the trade market. We’re at the moment where I’d take a mid-to-low QB1 for Mahomes, which is unfortunate given the expectations entering the season – I’d try to get someone like Murray or Prescott for him (off the name value) if possible, but if not, I’d turn to flipping him for Anthony Richardson plus an upgrade elsewhere in your lineup or on the bench.”
Tyler Alexander (Fantasy Football 101)

Garrett Wilson (WR – NYJ)

“I know Garrett Wilson is a very talented receiver, but clearly something isn’t right in New York. Most people drafted him in the late 1st hoping he would produce like a top receiver in the league, but it doesn’t look like the Jets have an offense capable of having one. There are also trade rumors flying around with Davante Adams and Amari Cooper that could immediately affect Garrett Wilson’s production if one of them ended up with the Jets. Things could turn around for him this season, but I’d rather take a DK Metcalf or Chris Olave and have more confidence in the production I’d be getting.”
Joey Meinerding (Fantasy Dink)

Davante Adams (WR – LV)

“Trade Davante Adams based on hype and hype alone. All of the winds are swirling around a potential reunion between Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams in New York, and that by itself will get fantasy managers very intrigued about an Adams purchase. Couple that hype with name value, Adams presents a fantastic selling opportunity for his fantasy managers. If Adams could fetch an Aaron Jones or a Deebo Samuel in return, Adams managers should have 0 qualms about selling as soon as possible.”
Ed Birdsall (Talking Points Sports)

Zack Moss (RB – CIN)

“Right now Bengals running back Zack Moss is a sell high for me because he is currently a top 20 back, however, as the season progresses we might see more of Chase Brown eating into his workload. Moss is currently averaging 3.9 yard per carry with less than 50 rushing yards per game. He is a one year rental type of player as I expect the Bengals to look into a running back in next year’s NFL draft. If you can package a 2025 2nd round pick with him to get a first I would do that, or try to get a like Josh Jacobs (RB30) or even see if you can get Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco for him since Pacheco is on IR.”
Miguel ‘SC’ Romero (Fantasy Football Universe)
