2025 NFL Draft Prospects: Ricky White III, Garrett Nussmeier, Cam Ward

It’s Week 8 in college football and this has been a day we’ve all had circled on our calendars for some time! There are so many great matchups for Saturday that it’s hard to limit this list to just three players. But let’s jump into the three players I’ll be watching closely for Saturday.

2025 NFL Draft Prospects

LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier at Arkansas

Everyone loves tools when talking about quarterbacks. That will lead to many people loving what they see from Garrett Nussmeier, and rightfully so. Every week he makes a lot of NFL-caliber throws and just has the tools desired for developing and building around. Front offices and coaches in the NFL will love what they see when studying his tape if they don’t already.

So far this season, Nussmeier has completed almost 65% of his passes for 1,989 yards and 18 touchdowns. His passing yardage total is sixth-best in the country and his passing touchdowns total is fifth-best in the country. His play has helped pave the way for the LSU offense to 34.2 points per game.

Outside of what he does on the football field, teams should love his commitment to LSU and his family background to the NFL. For starters, he committed to the Tigers in 2021 and has stayed there the entire time. Despite enticing offers to transfer elsewhere, Nussmeier has remained loyal. Meanwhile, his father, Doug, played in the NFL and is currently the quarterbacks coach for the Philadelphia Eagles. If there’s any quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft that hasn’t gotten enough buzz, I’d start with Nussmeier from LSU.

Miami (FL) QB Cam Ward at Louisville

The quarterback conversation is always fun to have with fans and colleagues. There are so many opinions that differentiate but one player that seems to get consistent positive buzz is Cam Ward from Miami (FL).

Whether it be from extending plays or fitting passes in tight spots down the sideline, there are a lot of positives within his game. When watching Ward earlier this season, I thought he did a really good job against Florida with reading the field and not hesitating on any passing windows that opened up for him.

This week, Ward and the Hurricanes will travel to Louisville. This should be a game that the Hurricanes win but road games are tough in college football. Meanwhile, if Ward has an off day, this game could get away from them. With how consistent he’s been this season, I find that hard to believe but it’s worth noting that Ward has thrown four interceptions in the last three weeks.

With so much focus on Carson Beck or Sheduer Sanders, there’s still much to be desired with Cam Ward. Look for him to continue to trend up the way that he has been doing in 2025 NFL Draft circles.

UNLV WR Ricky White at Oregon State

One receiver that continues to stand out weekly is Ricky White from UNLV. So much so, that I’ve talked with multiple scouts and coaches about what he can provide an offense at the next level. The two words used most when talking about him were “consistent” and “playmaker.”

That remains true as you look over his last three games played. During that span, he’s put up 100+ yards receiving and has had seven-plus receptions. Meanwhile, he’s recorded five touchdowns and is now up to eight total touchdowns this season.

White is listed at 6-foot-1 and 190 pounds and can win at all three levels of the field. Whether it be on designed screens or slot fades, White can come down with the football. He’s a key player in the Rebels offense and while the Oregon State football team isn’t once what it was, any team traveling at night to Corvallis is in for a tough game. Look for Ricky White III to have another big game for the Rebels.
