Renegade Fantasy Football: Week 2 Targets

JK Dobbins (RB – LAC): 49% rostered

Dobbins was one of two running backs coach Jim Harbaugh poached from his brother’s team this offseason after they landed Derrick Henry. However, it was Gus Edwards who typically went off the board first in fantasy drafts, including at Renegade Fantasy, where Dobbins commonly went undrafted due to roster size. Whether this was because of Dobbins’ issues staying healthy or that Gus profiled for the ‘Blake Corum role’ is moot at this point because Dobbins looked like a star again. He rushed for 135 yards and a touchdown on just 10 carries, looking like every bit of the elite talent he was entering the league. He added three receptions but managed just four yards with them. Kimani Vidal, who got all the offseason puff from local beat writers, was a healthy inactive in favor of Hassan Haskins. Suffice it to say that Dobbins is the running back to roster from the Chargers as long as he is healthy. Make the add at Renegade Fantasy wherever possible.

Brandin Cooks (WR – DAL): 33% rostered

Alec Pierce is probably the name you expected here, but we will have to wait and see what his role is when Josh Downs is healthy. Brandin Cooks proved once again that he has value outside of the byes by hauling in four of his seven targets for 40 yards and a touchdown. He will generally have better receiving yard numbers if he sees seven targets, so this was a promising opener in terms of targets and target share (22.5 percent). Add Cooks where available as a flex option who can star during the byes.

Isaiah Likely (TE – BAL): 28% rostered

Likely went off on Thursday night, essentially stealing the thunder from two of the game’s best in Travis Kelce and Mark Andrews. Likely hauled in nine of 11 targets for 111 receiving yards and a touchdown against the Chiefs, narrowly missing a second score as regulation expired. Baltimore made frequent use of 12 personnel but Likely was able to do his damage on just 66 percent of the snaps. Expect Likely to remain a major part of the offense going forward, especially on nights where Andrews is asked to stay home to block more frequently. Likely should be viewed as a top-15 option with top-five upside going forward. Add Likely where possible at Renegade Fantasy.
