NFL DFS Stacking Advice & Picks (Week 2)

NFL DFS Stacking Advice & Picks (Week 2)

Week 2 of the daily fantasy sports (DFS) season is here. It’s time for us to lock in our lineups and take some cash home. Last week, the quarterback and passing gameplay were subpar, but this week, we will continue to lock in on the correct stacks that can elevate our lineups and help us take down the state. Let’s start our research with multiple stacks from one of our favorite games, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. the Detroit Lions.

NFL DFS Stacking Advice & Picks (Week 2)

Jared Goff + Amon-Ra St. Brown + Mike Evans (QB +WR DET/ WR TB)

We may be leaning into the chalk with this stack, as this game is the highest implied total on the slate. However, the fruit is sometimes too delicious to ignore, and we must bite the juicy apple. The Detroit Lions have the best team-implied total on the slate with 29.5 total points. They are also playing at home, where Jared Goff becomes a superhero. Goff has 44 touchdowns at home compared to his 17 on the road in his last two seasons. With the Buccaneers suffering from injuries across their defensive backroom, we expect Goff to sit back and surgically pull apart the visitor’s defense and help us dominate from the quarterback position.

If Goff is to dominate, Amon-Ra St. Brown must help him get there. We understand that last week was the Jameson Williams show. However, St. Brown is too good of a player to be suddenly left in the dust and forgotten. Instead, the Lions now have the Buccaneers watching tape on how to cover the speedy Williams and their sure-handed tight end Sam LaPorta, leaving St. Brown less coverage to deal with than in the past.

Last year in the playoffs, St. Briwn received 14 targets and created eight receptions for 77 yards and a touchdown. With the Buccaneers’ defensive back room reeling from injuries, we should expect more passing in this game, which will benefit the Lions WR1.

Finally, we bring this stack back with Mike Evans. Evans picked up where he left off last season, producing two touchdowns for the Buccaneers. He also grabbed five receptions and gathered 61 total yards. Evans can break the slate every week with his prowess for touchdowns. The Buccaneers are slated for the 15th-highest implied total, which makes us want to reach for Evans’ boom potential before the PPR safety of Chris Godwin.

Baker Mayfield + Jalen McMillian + Sam LaPorta + Jameson Williams (QB + WR TB/ TE + WR DET)

Let’s say you don’t like the rostership percentage of the chalk stack above; you can always pivot to this less rostered stack here. With this stack, you are leaning heavily into one game. Therefore, if this game hits on the under, this lineup will fail you. We suggest this stack be used more in a GPP than a cash lineup.

Baker Mayfield is coming off of a four-touchdown game. The last time Mayfield faced this defense, he threw for 350 yards and three touchdowns. In Week 1, the Lions allowed the third most passing yards in the NFL. They also allowed the 15th most fantasy points per game (FPPG) to the quarterback position. This game could become a shootout, and with the Buccaneers 7.5 point underdog in this matchup, it’s risky to play Mayfield, but the reward does not outweigh the risk, especially in GPP.

For GPP, we can aim for McMillian to gain some value in this matchup while keeping our rostership low. The Lions allowed the most receiving yards to wide receivers last week. McMillian will have a chance to capitalize as he saw an 83% snap share in Week 1. Everyone may pick Evans or Godwin; by picking McMillian, you are giving yourself a chance at a unique lineup to break the slate.

After last week’s abysmal play by most of the tight ends, DFS players will be apprehensive about spending up on their tight end position. We can zig while they zag and create leverage against their lineups by not allowing one rough week to change our thoughts. Although Sam LaPorta only saw five targets that became four receptions and 45 yards, we know the talent he brings to the Detroit Lions. We know this defensive back room is ailing from injuries, and last year, they tied for the third most touchdowns to the position. Sometimes, you don’t need to get fancy to find the edge; you must keep your eyes open.

Finally, we add Jameson Williams. People will see Week 1 as a fluke, but you will know better. You will understand that his first-round capital is what the Lions have been waiting to unleash. Yes, he can beat you deep for a long touchdown. Williams can also beat you on a drag pass meant to be six yards and turn it into a 70-yard touchdown. His speed and talent within this offense will be a mismatch and a nightmare for defensive coordinators for weeks to come. Let’s try to use Williams before his price catapults to the moon.

Justin Herbert + Quentin Johnston (QB + WR LAC)

Do you want a stack that will be completely different than the rest? This stack is the stack for you, as most people are avoiding the Chargers passing offense like the plague. However, we know the arm talent that Justin Herbert possesses. We also know he is facing a Panthers team that did not improve their defense as they focused on surrounding Bryce Young with weapons. The evidence was apparent last week as the New Orleans Saints pummeled the Panthers. This game has a below 40 implied total, so it’s risky and better to be used within a GPP. However, we believe in the arm talent and the head coaching of Jim Harbaugh to dominate against the Panthers.

We also want to lean into former first-round draft pick Quentin Johnston. We know that is risky, but his 12.7 yards per reception was the highest on the offense. Johnston also created the 27th-best yards after catch per reception with 9.3 yards. It’s not pretty, but Harbaugh may have figured out how to cure the fantasy football woes surrounding this second-year wide receiver.
