Saturday’s Starting Pitcher Rankings
PLAYER | DK SALARY | FD SALARY | VALUE | RISK |
Aaron Nola (PHI) at MIA | $9,500 | $11,000 | Low | Low |
Dylan Cease (SD) vs. SF | $10,100 | $9,700 | Low | Medium |
Zach Eflin (BAL) vs. TB | $8,200 | $10,800 | Low | Medium |
Osvaldo Bido (OAK) vs. DET | $8,700 | $6,900 | Medium | Medium |
Aaron Nola (PHI) at MIA
Nola doesn’t seem to be getting any consideration for the NL Cy Young, but he’s not far out of the running. The righty has a 3.29 ERA and 1.15 WHIP this season, allowing just four total runs across his last four starts. Those were against some of the best offenses in baseball, but Miami is nowhere near that. The Marlins rank 29th in runs scored, OBP, OPS, wOBA, and xwOBA, with Nola dropping 42 FanDuel points in their last matchup! That’s why he’s a -250 favorite!
Dylan Cease (SD) vs. SF
Cease has been scorching in the second half of the season, sporting a 2.45 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, and 10.3 K/9 rate across his last 10 starts. He’s been even more dominant at Petco Park, providing a 1.50 ERA and 1.11 WHIP there in that span. A home matchup with San Fran doesn’t scare us either, with the Giants ranked 19th in wOBA and 20th in K rate. That was clear when Cease surrendered just two runs in their first two matchups this season.
Zach Eflin (BAL) vs. TB
Eflin was a sneaky acquisition by Baltimore, and he should have his way against his former team. Let’s start there because the Rays rank 26th in K rate, 28th in runs scored, and 25th in wOBA. That should bode well with how Eflin has pitched, posting a 1.37 ERA and 0.80 WHIP across his last four starts. One of those was against Tampa, with Eflin scoring at least 49 FD points in three consecutive outings.
Osvaldo Bido (OAK) vs. DET
Bido has been Oakland’s best pitcher this season, generating a 3.52 ERA and 1.09 WHIP. Most of that damage has happened recently, with Bido totaling a 2.36 ERA and 0.87 WHIP across his last six starts. A home meeting with Detroit’s disastrous offense should keep him trending in the right direction because the Tigers rank 20th in runs scored, 21st in K rate, and 28th in OBP.
MLB DFS Picks: Suggested Lineup Stacks
Milwaukee Brewers (vs. Ty Blach)
- Road (Miller Park)
- Game Total/Moneyline: 8.5 Runs/MIL -255
It’s been amazing watching Milwaukee in the second half, stepping up in the absence of Christian Yelich. They still rank third in OBP and fifth in runs scored, facing a Rockies team that ranks last in ERA and WHIP. Blach hasn’t done anything to lower those atrocious averages, accruing a 6.65 ERA and 1.70 WHIP.
Minnesota Twins (vs. Alec Marsh)
- Road (Kauffman Stadium)
- Game Total/Moneyline: 8.5 Runs/MIN -140
The Twins’ offense is volatile, but they still rank in the Top 10 in OBP and runs scored. That’s massive since Kauffman Stadium has developed into a hitter’s haven, and there’s no chance Marsh slows them down. The righty has a 5.10 career ERA and 1.37 WHIP, surrendering five runs to the Twins earlier in the year.
MLB DFS Picks: Core Studs
POS | PLAYER | DK SALARY | FD SALARY |
OF | Kyle Schwarber (PHI) | $6,000 | $4,100 |
SS | Willy Adames (MIL) | $4,800 | $3,600 |
2B | Jose Altuve (HOU) | $5,400 | $3,600 |
3B | Royce Lewis (MIN) | $5,500 | $3,400 |
- Schwarber gets on these runs where it feels like he’s going to homer every game, and he’s in one of them right now. The slugger has two doubles and five homers over his last four games, posting a 1.992 OPS in that span. He also has the platoon advantage against Darren McCaughan, who’s got an 8.24 ERA and 1.98 WHIP in his rookie season.
- If we stack the Brewers, we have to use Adames. The shortstop has been their best bat since the Christian Yelich injury, collecting a 1.090 OPS across his last 13 outings. That’s scary for a lefty like Blach, especially since Adames hits from the right side.
- Altuve is on his way to another 20-20 season while hitting .300. That’s typical for this stud, and it’s no surprise since he has a .370 OBP and .799 OPS across his last 18 outings. The best part is that he faces a lefty with a 5.33 ERA because Altuve has a .403 OBP and .958 OPS against left-handers since 2022.
- The Twins are one of our favorite stacks of the day, and Lewis is their best hitter. That’s why he’s one of the best options, totaling a .288 AVG, .550 SLG, and .896 OPS throughout his career. That’s amazing since he gets a matchup with Marsh, with Lewis amassing a 1.200 OPS in four games against the Royals this year.
MLB DFS Picks: Value Plays/Punts
POS | PLAYER | DK SALARY | FD SALARY |
OF | Matt Wallner (MIN) | $3,800 | $3,000 |
1B | Rhys Hoskins (MIL) | $3,400 | $2,900 |
3B | Josh Jung (TEX) | $4,200 | $2,900 |
1B | Kyle Manzardo (CLE) | $2,700 | $2,500 |
- Why is nobody talking about Wallner? This guy has been in the heart of Minnesota’s lineup whenever they face a right-hander, registering a .383 OBP and .966 OPS against them. He also comes into this matchup scorching, sporting a .392 OBP and 1.001 OPS across his last 35 outings!
- Hoskins is having a down season, but this guy is always a threat when Milwaukee matches up with a lefty. The first baseman has a .387 career OBP and .894 OPS with the platoon advantage in his favor. He’s also homered in two of his last six outings and could snatch another against Blach.
- The Rangers have been one of the biggest disappointments this season, and Jung’s injury is a significant reason. He’s missed most of the season with a fractured wrist but has a .467 OBP and 1.110 OPS across his last seven outings. That’s incredible since Jung has the platoon advantage against Tyler Anderson, generating a .937 OPS against southpaws throughout his career.
- The Guardians have gone with a platoon of Manzardo and Jhonkensy Noel, with both guys crushing whenever they have the platoon advantage in their favor. That’s Manzardo against a righty, posting a 1.352 OPS across his last four fixtures. We’re not scared of whatever fill-in LA is sending out here.
Saturday’s Top 3 Underdog Fantasy and PrizePicks Player Props
DJ Herz: 5.5 Strikeouts – Higher
This lefty has a 3.49 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and 11.2 K/9 rate across his last 10 starts, picking up at least five Ks in six of his last seven starts. That’s scary since Pittsburgh ranks 25th in K rate and 28th in wOBA.
Luis Ortiz: 16.5 Outs Recorded – Higher
This could be a pitcher’s duel between Herz and Ortiz, with Ortiz throwing six scoreless innings in his last two outings. He has a 3.19 ERA and 1.10 WHIP, facing a 23rd-ranked Washington offense.
Matt Wallner: 0.5 Total Bases – Higher
This guy has a .388 OBP, .599 SLG, and .987 OPS across his last 50 games. He is also flirting with a 1.000 OPS against righties and is our favorite Underdog play of the day!
