Whether you go with a zero or hero running back strategy, there are options for you later in this draft that benefit you. We have a veteran with a new opportunity, but there are new guys who are on their come-up and can prove to have a breakout season. Here are some of our favorite late-round fantasy football draft picks to target at the running back position.
Jones stays in the NFC North, so that means two revenge games and six games where he’s familiar with the opponent. He’s also being put into a situation where he will get a lot of touches.

Even when J.J. McCarthy was the projected quarterback, Jones had a high floor with a rookie passer who wasn’t asked to throw much in college. Now he gets the journeyman Sam Darnold, who’s making his fourth stop and has a 78.3 career passer rating.
Jones runs and catches passes so that he will get plenty of snaps in an offense that will need him to move the ball.
This is another running back in a situation where he could see the ball a lot.
Gardner Minshew at quarterback doesn’t scream confidence so that will make the Raiders rely on the run. We saw the offensive game plan shift that way last year when Antonio Pierce took over as head coach, and their offensive coordinator Luke Getsy likes to run the ball.
White got his chance to be the feature running back later in the 2023 season; from Weeks 15-18, he excelled by averaging 4.7 yards per carry and was the RB9 during that span.
If he continues that usage, he can be a top-ten running back for the whole season.
Brooks will be on the PUP, so he will miss the first four games, but this is a great opportunity to buy the dip.
The Panthers could not figure out their running back situation last season, consistently switching between Miles Sanders and Chuba Hubbard, each averaging under four yards per carry.
If they can’t establish the run at the start of the season, Brooks will be in line for a huge role the moment he steps on the field.
Arizona could be on the come-up as they’ve added pieces to support Kyler Murray. They drafted Trey McBride last year, Marvin Harrison Jr. with their recent first-round pick, and added their future star running back.
Benson has speed, power, and natural hands that can be used in the passing game.
James Connor will be the starter, but he’s been injury-prone throughout his career. If and when injuries happen, Benson will be an instant RB1.
