Fantasy Football Outlook: Will Justin Herbert Play Week 4?
Justin Herbert (ankle) expected to start at quarterback in Week 4
Justin Herbert (ankle) is expected to start at quarterback in Week 4 for the Los Angeles Chargers against the Kansas City Chiefs barring any pregame setbacks according to Ian Rapoport
Fantasy Impact
Herbert carried a questionable designation entering the weekend but was able to convince the head coach Jim Harbaugh that the signal caller is good to go for Sunday. The dynamic quarterback will likely be tested by a strong Kansas City defense while also potentially missing both of his starting offensive tackles for the divisional contest.

Justin Herbert (ankle) officially questionable for Sunday
Justin Herbert (ankle) is officially questionable for Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Fantasy Impact
Herbert reaggravated his high-ankle sprain in Week 3 and will be questionable to play in Week 4. He has been able to log limited practice sessions this week, and it appears that he is trending towards playing for the Chargers. If he’s out, fantasy managers shouldn’t bother starting anyone on Los Angeles’ offense against the Chiefs.

Justin Herbert (ankle) limited again Thursday
Justin Herbert (ankle) was limited at practice again on Thursday.
Fantasy Impact
Thursday’s practice brought more of the same for Herbert. He was once again limited with his ankle injury, and we still don’t have any clarity on whether or not he’s expected to suit up in Week 4. Fantasy managers should keep close tabs on his status heading into the weekend.

Justin Herbert (ankle) officially limited Wednesday
Justin Herbert (ankle) was officially limited at practice on Wednesday.
Fantasy Impact
Herbert was able to practice in a limited fashion on Wednesday despite aggravating his ankle injury on Sunday. He seems to be optimistic about his chances to play this weekend, but it remains to be determined if he actually will or not. His presence in Week 4 would offer a huge boost to all of Los Angeles’ skill-position players in a tough matchup against the Chiefs.

Justin Herbert aggravates high-ankle sprain against Steelers
Justin Herbert aggravated his high-ankle sprain during the Steelers game on Sunday. X-rays came back negative but he will be monitored this week.
Fantasy Impact
It’s not terrible news for fantasy managers but it’s not great news either. On the bright side, it doesn’t sound like he will miss extended time, if any, but on the downside, he could be hampered by this injury if it continues to linger. Fantasy managers will need to monitor the situation as it unfolds.

What the Experts are Saying
Justin Herbert was surprisingly active this past week for Los Angeles after suffering a right high-ankle sprain in Week 2. Clearly dealing with enormous pain while on the field, Herbert aggravated his injury before ultimately leaving the game early. Following the team’s 20-10 loss to Pittsburgh, Herbert was spotted in a walking boot. He told reporters his ankle was “a little more sore” than before.
The team has an early bye in Week 5, so it makes sense for Jim Harbaugh to rest Herbert and allow him to recover, especially with the team facing a stout Kansas City Chiefs defense. If Herbert were to sit, Taylor Heinicke would get the start in a largely run-heavy script.

Herbert re-aggravated his high ankle issue last week. He’s uncertain to play this week, so we need a week of practice reports to determine his Week 4 status. I’m not adamant about playing a limited quarterback in a run-first offense even if he does suit up. Kansas City ranks 15th in yards per attempt, 16th in CPOE, and have given up the 11th-most fantasy points passing.
