Joe Mixon (ankle) has been ruled out for Week 3 against the Minnesota Vikings.

Mixon isn’t traveling with the team to Minnesota and has officially been ruled out for Sunday’s game. This was the expected outcome, as he was initially listed as doubtful to play thanks to the ankle injury that he suffered last week. With Dameon Pierce (hamstring) also unavailable to play, Houston will have to rely on Cam Akers to get the majority of touches out of the backfield.

With Dameon Pierce (hamstring) also unavailable to play against the Vikings, Cam Akers is set to start and see the bulk of the work for the Texans.
