3 Fantasy Football Trades to Propose Week 4 (2024)

3 Fantasy Football Trades to Propose Week 4 (2024)

From now until the fantasy trade deadline, we will show you trades to propose based on our Trade Value Chart. These trades will provide more value for your team down the stretch run on the way to a fantasy championship.

3 Fantasy Football Trades to Propose Week 4 (2024)

JK Dobbins (RB – LAC) for Amari Cooper (WR – CLE)

JK Dobbins is one of the better feel-good stories of the new NFL season. Ever since his 2020 rookie season that saw him average six yards per carry and play 15 games, Dobbins has barely been on the field. He missed all of 2021, half of 2022 and then nearly all of 2023. The fact he’s even playing at all is a testament to his determination.

Heading into 2024, Dobbins didn’t have a lot of options as a mid-20s running back heading into his fifth NFL season and coming off major leg injuries. But landing in Los Angeles has been a Godsend for Dobbins and his fantasy value. The Chargers famously hired Jim Harbaugh – brother of his former coach, John Harbaugh – who loves to run the ball. LOVES it.

The offense Harbaugh has installed so far has seen the Chargers go from the bottom 10 in rush attempts last season to the top 10 with Dobbins leading the charge (no pun intended) in both attempts and efficiency. He leads fellow former Raven-turned-Charger Gus Edwards 42-32 in rush attempts but is averaging an incredible 7.4 yards-per-attempt compared to Edwards’s 2.9 YPA. He’s already rushed for over 300 yards and is a low-end RB1 in fantasy scoring.

So why offer him up in a trade now when he seems like one of the best running backs in fantasy? Because we don’t know how long it will last. We also don’t know when Harbaugh will mix things up and throw Edwards out there to carry the load and lessen Dobbins’.

Instead, I’d prefer Amari Cooper for the rest of the season. He doesn’t have the stats yet but is starting to heat up, totaling 86 yards and two touchdowns in Week 3. He’s also been a huge part of the passing game, seeing 10, eight and 12 targets over the first three weeks, respectively. There’s also the possibility the Browns will make a quarterback change soon and see Jameis Winston under center, which would only help Cooper’s fantasy outlook.

Cooper is a much more reliable option, finishing as a top-20 fantasy receiver in five of the last six seasons.

Tee Higgins (WR – CIN) for Jonathon Brooks (RB – CAR)

Less than a month into the season and the Cincinnati Bengals have had some of the worst luck. They’re 0-3 but have lost those three games by 12 points combined. On top of that, they’ve had a top-five (according to DVOA) offense in the league and quarterback Joe Burrow is a top-eight fantasy quarterback yet their prospects of making the playoffs now are slim.

For receiver Tee Higgins, he returned from injury at the worst time. Higgins sat out the first two games of the session with a hamstring injury but debuted in Week 3, catching three of five targets for 39 yards and playing most offensive snaps. It is a hopeful sign after a season cut short last year, also due to injuries, but Higgins also has more competition for targets than ever before.

While he was nursing his injuries, the Bengals signed pass-catching tight end Mike Gesicki, giving Joe Burrow the most catch-inclined tight end of his career. The Bengals also drafted 2023 sixth-round pick Andre Iosivas into not only taking former Bengals Tyler Boyd’s snaps but filling in for Higgins when he was out. Iosivias saw more targets when Higgins returned and scored a touchdown in Week 3 after scoring twice the week before.

Higgins is playing on a one-year deal after being franchise tagged in the off-season and it’s unlikely Cincinnati will bring him back. If the season continues to go down the drain for Cincinnati, it’s possible they trade Higgins away into an unknown situation.

Also entering an unknown, but more promising situation, is Panthers running back Jonathon Brooks. Brooks is expected to return from a torn ACL in the next few weeks and make his professional debut. The first running back taken in the 2024 NFL Draft, Brooks is set to join a Panthers offense that looks rejuvenated under quarterback Andy Dalton. Carolina had 437 yards of offense in Week 3 with 131 coming on the ground. If Brooks plays to his draft capital, he could be valuable down the stretch. Trade for him now when his value will never be lower.

Lamar Jackson (QB – BAL) and Zack Moss (RB – CIN) for Dak Prescott (QB – DAL), Jayden Reed (WR – GB), and Travis Kelce (TE – KC)

In a season that has seen the tight end position fall off the fantasy cliff, target the player who could change all that. Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has gotten off to a slow start, just like every other tight end in the league, but we know what he’s capable of. Before this season, Kelce hadn’t finished lower than third in fantasy scoring for tight ends since 2016. He’s healthy, Patrick Mahomes II is healthy, and there is a rebound coming.

Meanwhile, the other pieces represent a trade-off. By giving up Zach Moss and Lamar Jackson, having another Pro Bowl season, and getting a slight downgrade in Dak Prescott, who’s also having a Pro Bowl Season, you’re getting the top receiver on the Green Bay Packers and just in time for the return of quarterback Jordan Love. All Reed did in the one game he and Love had together was catch four balls for 138 yards and a touchdown.

Moss is a nice piece but he’s volume dependent and, as mentioned in the section above about Tee Higgins, the Bengals could be in a bad spot as the season drags on. Adding Dak, Reed and Kelce would be a nice core to start your playoff push.
