Fantasy Football Storylines: Mark Andrews, Player, Player (Week 4)

Things are taking shape with three weeks of the season in the books. Nevertheless, there are always intriguing questions, and Week 4 isn’t an exception. Four questions stand out as especially interesting in Week 4.

Fantasy Football Storylines

Will Mark Andrews Resurface from Witness Protection?

According to Pro Football Focus (PFF), Mark Andrews was tied for Baltimore’s sixth-most routes (six) in Week 3. Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman were tied for the most routes with 16. Isaiah Likely ran 10 routes, and Charlie Kolar also ran three. Andrews was on the field for only seven of Lamar Jackson‘s 17 dropbacks.

The Ravens had a run-heavy game plan against Dallas’s pitiful run defense. Sadly, Andrews could disappear in run-heavy game plans. John Harbaugh was asked about Andrews’ lack of involvement after the game and essentially chalked it up to the game plan.

Andrews is a low-end TE1 with a scary low weekly floor. On the plus side, there’s shootout potential for the Ravens in Week 4, hosting the Bills on Sunday Night Football. So, Andrews and Likely are startable this week, and if the former has a decent showing, it could crack open the sell-high window. Gamers are stuck holding the bag for now, though.

What Will Green Bay’s Offense Look Like in Week 4?

Jordan Love returned to practice last week and participated in pregame warmups in Week 3, but Malik Willis started, and Love was inactive for a second straight game.

Willis was hyper-efficient the previous two games, leading a run-first offense for the Packers. Green Bay’s non-quarterbacks had 78 rush attempts, and Willis had 43 dropbacks. Green Bay will almost certainly lean heavily on the run again if Love is out.

However, could they continue with a run-heavy game plan to ease Love back into action if he suits up? Maybe. Josh Jacobs is an RB1, and Emanuel Wilson is an intriguing handcuff in 12-team leagues or larger with medium-sized or deeper benches.

Jayden Reed‘s activity in the passing game and designed runs make him the most exciting of Green Bay’s wideouts. He has a higher ceiling with Love at quarterback. Still, Reed’s a viable flex or WR3 if Willis starts, depending on a manager’s alternatives. Romeo Doubs has run the most routes (73) for the Packers this season. Yet, he’s only interesting if Love starts. Christian Watson is an emergency-only starter, and Dontayvion Wicks is still behind the trio of Reed, Doubs and Watson.

However, Wicks has been targeted on 23.7% of his routes this season and would be a priority waiver addition if any of the receivers ahead of him were to get hurt. So, he’s a reasonable bench stash in leagues with deep benches.

Who Will Play Quarterback for the Dolphins in Week 4, and Does it Matter?

Skylar Thompson was knocked out of Week 3’s contest early with a painful rib injury, and Tim Boyle relieved him. The club signed Tyler Huntley to their practice squad last week, and Adam Schefter speculated about the team making calls for a quarterback.

According to PFF, Thompson had an 88.2% adjusted completion percentage on 19 attempts, and Boyle had a 53.8% adjusted completion percentage on 13 attempts last week. On 196 career pass attempts, Boyle has a 61.7% completion percentage, a 68.1% adjusted completion percentage, four passing touchdowns, 12 interceptions, 5.2 yards per pass attempt and a 6.4-yard average depth of target (aDOT). He has no business starting NFL games.

Huntley is the most intriguing in-house option. He’s completed 63.5% of his 384 career pass attempts, with a 72.8% adjusted completion percentage, 10 touchdown passes, eight interceptions, 5.8 yards per pass attempt and a 7.9-yard aDOT. Huntley would be the best news for Tyreek Hill‘s, Jaylen Waddle‘s and De’Von Achane‘s fantasy value in Week 4 and until Tua Tagovailoa returns.

Achane is a must-start. Sadly, Hill is in boom-or-bust WR2 territory, and Waddle can be benched on many teams, even if Huntley is named the starter.
