We have made it through another week of action and are now in the second half of the season. At this point, it is all about playing the hot hand and having great matchups in the coming weeks. We are nearly 2/3 of the way through the season, so there will be a few players to track due to injuries, increased playing time, streaming starting pitchers, and some new closers.
Each week, I will highlight a few players to target in your weekly FAAB process, but know there are many others available and, more importantly, others that may be better fitting for your teams. If you have any questions, please ask me on Twitter (@bdentrek).
Remember that we’ll be using Yahoo for player percentages, and we’ll keep our suggestion to players rostered in no more than 60% of leagues.

8 Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire & FAAB Targets: Week 25
Hitters
Victor Robles (OF – SEA)
Rostered: 23%
Suggested Bid: 22%
Robles is back and leading off for the Mariners. He has reentered the leadoff mix as he’s swinging a hot bat. Over the last 13 games, Robles is hitting .476 with a home run, 12 runs scored, and eight stolen bases. Robles is now hitting .324 with 22 stolen bases with the Mariners, and he should be rostered in all formats for the remainder of the season.
Carlos Santana (1B – MIN)
Rostered: 18%
Suggested Bid: 6%
Santana entered Saturday swinging a hot bat. He has hit safely in six of his last eight games for a .308 batting average. Santana has hit three home runs while walking 16.1% of the time and striking out 9.7%. He’s barreling the ball 13% with a 47.8% hard-hit rate over the hot streak. The Twins face nine RHP over the last 12 games, making Santana a nice target for the season’s final weeks.
Ty France (1B – CIN)
Rostered: 15%
Suggested Bid: 8%
France has found a new lease on life since he joined the Reds. He’s playing every day, and the production on the plate follows. Over his last ten games, he’s been hitting .385 with a home run and a stolen base. France is only striking out 10.3% of the time, with a 42.9% hard-hit rate. The Reds have a whole week in Great American Small Park next week, making France a strong stream next week.
Pitchers
Matthew Boyd (SP – CLE)
Rostered: 52%
Suggested Bid: 17%
Boyd has battled his way back from injury and looked great for the Guardians. He has allowed three earned runs or less in his six starts with the Guardians, with a 2.18 ERA and 3.52 SIERA. Boyd is also racking up the strikeouts, with 35 strikeouts over 33 innings pitched for a 21.4% K-BB. Boyd has a 2-step versus Minnesota and St. Louis, making for a strong 2-step stream.
Albert Suarez (SP – BAL)
Rostered: 31%
Suggested Bid: 11%
Suarez bounced back nicely in his last start by allowing one run over six innings with eight strikeouts versus the Red Sox. He has allowed three earned runs or less in seven of his last eight starts with a 3.26 ERA, 4.44 SIERA, and 12.5% K-BB. By no means has Suarez been dominant, but he’s been quite serviceable and gets a nice 2-step versus the Giants and Tigers next week.
Lance Lynn (SP – STL)
Rostered: 18%
Suggested Bid: 7%
Lynn returned from the IL and looked good over five innings versus the Reds, allowing one run while striking out seven. Lynn has a 3.96 ERA and 4.41 SIERA on the season, with a 12.7% K-BB. It’s been a rocky season for Lynn, but the last start was solid, and it gives hope that he will have a nice matchup versus the Pirates next week and the Rockies the following week.
Closers
Seranthony Dominguez (RP – BAL)
Rostered: 52%
Suggested Bid: 14%
Dominguez has taken over closing duties for the Orioles, and he has been great. He has nine saves over 12 appearances, 17 strikeouts over 11.1 innings, and a great 30.4% K-BB. The Orioles are still fighting for a playoff spot, leaving plenty of opportunities for Dominguez over the final two weeks of the season.
Chad Green (RP – TOR)
Rostered: 51%
Suggested Bid: 6%
Green has been good and bad since the start of August. He has a 7.47 ERA and 4.27 SIERA over 17 appearances with eight saves but four walks. Green has 12 strikeouts over 15.2 innings pitched. It’s been a roller coaster of success for Green, but the saves have been there, and that’s all we care about if we roster Green for the season’s final two weeks.
