You should be grinding the two-start pitchers to give you an advantage over your competition every week.
Each week, I will give you a breakdown of the two-start options for your fantasy leagues broken up into the following tiers:
- Must Start: Pitchers you have to start because of their talent/matchups.
- Should Start: Pitchers rostered in most formats and who should probably be in your lineup.
- Here We Go: Pitchers you are probably starting in most formats but who come with some level of risk.
- Feeling Lucky: Pitchers available in less than 25% of leagues that are risky but viable in deeper formats.
- Desperate Measures: Pitchers you shouldn’t use unless you have no choice.
These projected two-start pitchers are subject to change and will throughout the season.

Fantasy Baseball Two-Start Pitchers: Week 23
Must Start
- Corbin Burnes (SP – BAL) vs. CWS, at BOS
- Brayan Bello (SP – BOS) at NYM, vs. CWS
- Gerrit Cole (SP – NYY) at TEX, at CHC
- Carlos Rodon (SP – NYY) at TEX, at CHC
- Chris Sale (SP – ATL) vs. COL, vs. TOR
- Logan Gilbert (SP – SEA) at OAK, at STL
- Luis Castillo (SP – SEA) at OAK, at STL
- Freddy Peralta (SP – MIL) vs. STL, vs. COL
- Jared Jones (SP – PIT) at CHC, vs. WAS
- Ryne Nelson (SP – ARI) at SD, at HOU
- Jack Flaherty (SP – LAD) at ARI, vs. CLE
- Joe Musgrove (SP – SD) vs. DET, vs. SF
Should Start
David Festa (SP – MIN) at TB, at OAK
David Festa has quietly been dominant since returning from the Minors, throwing 32.1 innings with a 3.06 ERA and 43 strikeouts. He has great matchups this week and you should be rolling him out in just about every format.
Osvaldo Bido (SP, RP – OAK) vs. SEA, vs. DET
Osvaldo Bido has been fantastic despite underwhelming stuff and underlying metrics. That said, these are great matchups versus two bad offenses at home where Bido has excelled. You have to keep using him and just hope the regression monster fades away.
Here We Go
Brant Hurter (SP – DET) at SD, at OAK
Brant Hurter has been really good recently, but these are weird matchups. San Diego is normally the better offense, but they have struggled versus left-handed pitching and the A’s have been surprisingly good against southpaws.
Kyle Harrison (SP – SF) vs. ARI, at SD
Kyle Harrison has been up and down this season, throwing 121.2 innings with a 4.22 ERA and 115 strikeouts. He has been great at home and bad on the road, but at least this road start is in a good pitcher’s park in San Diego. This one is a toss-up and should be reserved for deeper leagues.
Jeffrey Springs (SP – TB) vs. MIN, at BAL
Jeffrey Spring has been really good since coming back from Tommy John surgery, but he has not been going deeper than five innings. That is risky when you have two tough matchups. I think you are likely using him in most formats, but there is a chance he doesn’t go deep enough for a win.
Feeling Lucky
Simeon Woods Richardson (SP, RP – MIN) at TB, at KC
Simeon Woods Richardson was fantastic to begin the season, but he has struggled more as of late. This seems to be a sign of a rookie having some fatigue, so while the Rays matchup is pretty nice, it is a bit riskier to use him for the Kansas City start.
Zack Littell (SP, RP – TB) vs. MIN, at BAL
I don’t usually love to use guys coming off the injured list (IL), but Zack Littell was really good before his stint and he is returning pretty quickly. These aren’t easy matchups, so I don’t have an issue being cautious because there is some risk.
Desperate Measures
- Eduardo Rodriguez (SP – ARI) vs. LAD, at HOU
- Chris Flexen (SP, RP – CWS) at BAL, at BOS
- Gavin Williams (SP – CLE) at KC, at LAD
- Griffin Canning (SP – LAA) vs. LAD, at TEX
- J.T. Ginn (RP, SP – OAK) vs. SEA, vs. DET
- Andrew Heaney (SP, RP – TEX) vs. NYY, vs. LAA
- Jack Leiter (SP – TEX) vs. NYY, vs. LAA
- Max Meyer (SP – MIA) vs. WAS, vs. PHI
- Tyler Phillips (RP, SP – PHI) at TOR, at PIT
- Patrick Corbin (SP – WAS) at MIA, at PIT
- Jordan Wicks (SP – CHC) vs PIT, vs. NYY
- Kyle Freeland (SP – COL) at ATL, at MIL
