Dynasty Trade Advice: Tank Dell, Garrett Wilson, Caleb Williams (Week 4)

Tank Dell may not be the first name you think of when it comes to the Texans’ offense, but don’t let that fool you as he’s quietly carving out a fantasy-friendly role. Garrett Wilson has been valued as a top-10 dynasty WR since he was drafted but is it time to move on? Rookie QBs can be frustrating to depend on but don’t panic on Caleb Williams just yet. Let’s dive into why I’m buying, selling or holding these players.

Dynasty Trade Advice

Buy: Tank Dell (WR – Texans)

It has been clear through three weeks Nico Collins and Stefon Diggs are the top two options in the Texans’ offense, leaving Tank Dell as the odd man out.

Their current target shares:

  • Collins: 26% (27 targets)
  • Diggs: 22% (23 targets)
  • Dell: 17% (18 targets)

While he is bringing up the rear in target share, Dell is still seeing seven touches a game (six targets, one rush). With his explosiveness and ability to take it to the house on any play, I’m not mad at the opportunities he’s receiving. We have seen missed passes that could have been huge plays for him that would change the narrative surrounding him currently. Dell is the WR24, per FantasyPros’ dynasty expert consensus rankings (ECR). He is in the same tier as Zay Flowers, George Pickens and Michael Pittman Jr, all of whom I prefer Dell over. All three are the perceived No. 1 WR on their respective teams, however, and are receiving similar opportunities as Dell — Flowers (22 targets), Pickens (17 targets), Pittman (19 targets).

Dell is in a much better situation as well with other playmakers taking the defense’s attention away. A couple of months ago I shipped away Tyreek Hill for Dell on a non-contender. Given the Dolphins’ situation now, I would make the same move on a contender. Try out our dynasty trade calculator to gauge player values.

Let’s also not forget Dell is coming back from a broken leg that ended his rookie season and he was shot in the offseason. It’s not crazy to think he may need a few weeks to get back to what we saw from him last season.

Sell: Garrett Wilson (WR – Jets)

Garrett Wilson has to be one of the biggest disappointments so far this season. He currently ranks as the WR28 in PPR points per game (PPG) scoring but is still viewed as a top-10 dynasty WR. Per dynasty ECR, he is valued in tier two (WR6). Other players in the same tier I prefer over him are Amon-Ra St. Brown, Marvin Harrison Jr, Malik Nabers and A.J. Brown. All are outscoring Wilson on a PPG game basis by at least three points. I am targeting all of these WRs to pivot off Wilson even with most likely needing to add to Wilson to get a deal done. You could potentially get Brown straight up if the manager needs the points now and is worried about him after returning from injury. It sounds like a bit much but I would be fine with adding a second-round pick to Wilson to get up to Nabers, Harrison Jr. or St. Brown (in that order).

Hold: Caleb Williams (QB – Bears)

There has been so much panic surrounding Caleb Williams and his start. Do not panic sell. He’s a rookie and will need time to adjust to NFL competition. Not every rookie comes into the league a fantasy star right off the bat and not every rookie is a bust because of that. Sometimes it just takes time for a player to adjust to the NFL game. He is one of the most value-insulated players in dynasty at the moment and there is no reason to sell low due to a slow start to the season. Be patient and trust the process that led you to draft Williams in the first place.
