8 Dynasty Stashes to Add Now: Week 2 (2024 Fantasy Football)

The NFL season has officially kicked off. Now we get to see what players are worth rostering and which players we should give up on. If you’re not churning the bottom of your dynasty roster, you’re missing out. There is tons of value to be had if you’re willing to look for it. Here are some names I’m keeping in mind as we move into Week 2.

Dynasty Stashes to Add/Buy After Week 1

Jameis Winston (QB – CLE)

The Browns looked bad in Week 1. More specifically, QB Deshaun Watson looked bad. He hasn’t been himself for years. Anyone who’s rostered him through these years is likely fed up with him. I doubt he gets benched soon, but it could be sooner than we all think. With that in mind, I’m adding Jameis Winston wherever I can, just in case. He’s likely already rostered in Superflex leagues but perhaps he can be had for a discount before the current manager catches on. He’s worth a stash.

Isaac Guerendo (RB – SF)

Christian McCaffrey missing Monday Night Football at the last minute was a shock to the entire fantasy community. I know a lot of teams didn’t have anyone available to start in his place. Some savvy managers added Jordan Mason leading up to Week 1, but Isaac Guerendo is the guy you should be stashing in dynasty. He may be fourth on the depth chart but if McCaffrey misses more time and Mason were to get injured, Guerendo would be next in line. With the way the 49ers run the ball, there shouldn’t be any San Francisco running back on the waiver wire in your dynasty league.

Jaylen Wright (RB – MIA)

The Dolphins’ running back room operates a lot like the 49ers’ running back room. Next man up and expect plenty of volume, whoever it is. In Week 1, both De’Von Achane and Raheem Mostert got dinged up. Neither is expected to miss time as of the writing of this article, but Jaylen Wright is a prime candidate for your bench if he’s available. He missed Week 1 as a healthy scratch but if given the nod as the RB1, he should dominate for fantasy purposes. Perhaps him being a healthy scratch has made his current manager nervous, or caused him to hit waivers. Either way, grab him now before you regret it.

Dylan Laube (RB – LV)

Dylan Laube was a healthy scratch on Sunday but I still think he’s going to be someone you want on your bench sooner rather than later. In Week 1, Raiders starter Zamir White got 13 carries and two targets. Backup Alexander Mattison got five carries and six targets. While Laube wasn’t in uniform, it’s clear the Raiders plan on using their running backs. I want Laube on my bench over deeper WR or TE options. He’s got the potential to see a great value increase should something happen to the RBs ahead of him.

Alec Pierce (WR – IND)

Finding stash options is the toughest at the WR position. They just aren’t given as much of an opportunity week over week. Alec Pierce is a prime case of this. Heading into the season he was expected to be the third option on a very run-heavy team. However, with teammate Josh Downs injured it was Pierce’s time to shine. He caught all three targets for 125 yards and a touchdown. Will that happen again? Unlikely, but I still want him on my bench in case it does. At the very least, he becomes a great trade piece for you to upgrade your team elsewhere.

Tyler Johnson (WR – LAR)

Rams receiver Puka Nacua left the game Sunday night with a knee injury. It’s not expected to end his season, but in the meantime, his teammates will have to step up to fill the gap. Cooper Kupp returned massively, getting 21 targets all by himself. That was more than the number of completions opposing QB Jared Goff had in the same game (18). Behind him is Demarcus Robinson and my pick for breakout candidate of the week in Tyler Johnson. He and Robinson both saw seven targets, but Robinson is the one more people are familiar with. Give me the cheaper option as a stash candidate since they both have similar upsides with Nacua missing time.

Devaughn Vele (WR – DEN)

I pride myself on knowing a large amount of fantasy-relevant players, but I’ll be honest, Devaughn Vele got by me. We were all curious who would be the second option behind Courtland Sutton in Denver. I thought it might be Troy Franklin, but he was a healthy scratch in Week 1. Depending on who you ask, it might have been Josh Reynolds, who caught five of his eight targets. In my mind, it was very clearly Vele, who caught a team-high eight passes for 39 yards. It’s not a ton of production, but clearly, rookie QB Bo Nix has no problem finding him. In PPR formats Vele is a great addition this week if you are looking for some sizzle at the WR position.

Noah Gray (TE – KC)

Last but not least on this list is someone I think I’ve written about a few times in the last year. Noah Gray isn’t flashy, but at least he’s there. In a week where only one TE scored over 15 PPR points (Isaiah Likely), I think we can all say we know very little about what to expect here. Gray won’t be someone you want to start, but as TE injuries add up, and poor production continues for some players, fantasy managers might start looking for floor instead of ceiling. Gray is a floor option, no doubt about it, and if he keeps getting three catches a game he might be worth something to someone in a trade. I’d rather roster him than Dawson Knox or Cade Stover at this point.
