Fantasy Football Outlook: Will DeVonta Smith Play Week 4?
DeVonta Smith (concussion) a long-shot to play Week 4
DeVonta Smith (concussion) is considered a long-shot to play in Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Fantasy Impact
Smith seems to be unlikely to play in Week 4. He is currently in the NFL’s concussion protocols after taking a hard hit to the head last week, and he hasn’t been at practice at all so far this week. It looks like he will miss Sunday’s game, and with A.J. Brown (hamstring) also unlikely to play, Dallas Goedert and Jahan Dotson will both be primed to get more work on Philadelphia’s offense.

DeVonta Smith (concussion) officially doesn’t practice Wednesday
DeVonta Smith (concussion) officially didn’t participate at Philadelphia’s practice on Wednesday.
Fantasy Impact
Smith was not able to practice for the Eagles on Wednesday. He suffered a concussion in Sunday’s win over the Saints, and it has the chance to knock him out for Week 4 against the Buccaneers. A.J. Brown (hamstring) may also miss that game, so the Eagles could be down several key players on Sunday.

Fantasy Impact

What the Experts are Saying
DeVonta Smith was well on his way to a phenomenal finish in Week 3 before sustaining an incredibly dirty hit to his head that the officials somehow missed. Smith immediately dropped to the ground and entered the “fencing” posture, indicating he was concussed. Thankfully, he could walk off the field with assistance before later being ruled out. Placed into the league’s concussion protocol, Smith will now have a week to progress through the necessary steps before attempting to return against Tampa Bay.
Philadelphia badly needs his presence on the field since they are already without star A.J. Brown, but one can’t rush how long a return will take when dealing with a brain injury. Keep an eye on Philadelphia’s practice reports to see if he can both wear (and then eventually shed) the non-contact jersey before trying to return. Should he miss Week 4, the Eagles would look to lean on tight end Dallas Goedert and the run game again, with an occasional target going to Jahan Dotson.

A.J. Brown (hamstring) and DeVonta Smith (concussion) didn’t practice on Wednesday. I don’t foresee either playing this week, but if either suits up, they are in your fantasy lineups. If/when they are ruled out, I might be adding some Eagles receiving options not named Jahan Dotson to the Primer.
