A.J. Brown Injury: Will He Play Week 2? (2024 Fantasy Football)

Another weekend of NFL football has arrived! Unfortunately, the injury watch for fantasy football managers is also here, and that includes Eagles star wide receiver A.J. Brown. Players who appear on the injury report and haven’t practiced much during the week can often lead to trepidation for managers trying to make fantasy football lineup decisions and/or waiver claims. That’s also the case for those that pop up on late-week injury reports, similar to how A.J. Brown has with his hamstring injury. Don’t fret, though – FantasyPros is here to provide you with all of the latest news and updates on the players who are questionable heading into this week. So, will A.J. Brown play in Week 2? Here’s what we know about A.J. Brown‘s injury and outlook for Week 2.

Fantasy Football Outlook: Will A.J. Brown Play Week 2?

A.J. Brown (hamstring) ruled out for Week 2
A.J. Brown (hamstring) has officially been ruled out for Week 2 for the Philadelphia Eagles against the Atlanta Falcons Monday night.

Fantasy Impact

Brown carried a questionable tag entering the weekend for the Eagles, but is unable to suit up for the Week 2 contest. Devonta Smith will see increased volume in the Philadelphia passing attack against the Atlanta Falcons Monday night.

A.J. Brown (hamstring) questionable for Monday night
Philadelphia Eagles star WR A.J. Brown was listed as questionable to play Monday night against the Atlanta Falcons after missing practice on Saturday.

Fantasy Impact

Brown, who was limited on Friday after tweaking his hamstring, supposedly went into Saturday exercising caution, ultimately not practicing. While this is not ideal, especially given that he does not play until Monday night, making a pivot play difficult for fantasy purposes, there’s still a solid chance he could play, especially after extended rest (played his Week 1 game on a Friday). His situation is worth monitoring in the event he does not play.

A.J. Brown (hamstring) logs limited session Friday
Philadelphia Eagles WR A.J. Brown popped up on Friday’s injury report as a limited participant with a hamstring issue.

Fantasy Impact

Mid-week downgrades are never promising, but Brown does not play until Monday and has had an extended rest after opening Week 1 on a Friday. It’s possible he sustained his injury on Thursday when he was a full participant, and his status on Saturday should be monitored ahead of their matchup with the Atlanta Falcons, though for now it should be expected that he will be available until told otherwise.

What the Experts Are Saying

A.J. Brown busted loose for 119 yards and a long touchdown in Week 1 for the Philadelphia Eagles. He now has at least 100 receiving yards in 13 of 35 games as an Eagle. Philadelphia is hosting the Atlanta Falcons on Monday night in Week 2. Atlanta allowed a 6-85 line to Pittsburgh perimeter threat George Pickens last week, as top corner A.J. Terrell had an uncharacteristically poor game in coverage. Terrell stayed exclusively outside in that outing, while Brown lined up all over the offensive formation for the Eagles. Brown will have a decided physical edge over both Mike Hughes and Dee Alford and is a must-start for fantasy managers in this game if he’s active.

WR hamstrings carry a high recurrence risk. The timeline of returning to practice suggests mild severity, but mid-week additions to the injury report have a relatively high rate of missing the game. Saturday practice will be the key.
