Wednesday’s Starting Pitcher Rankings

Chris Sale (ATL) at MIN
Sadly, Chris Sale has a challenging matchup tonight. The Twins are tied for sixth in wRC+ (112) with a 21.0 K% versus lefties and first in wRC+ (125) with a 21.0 K% at home this season. Minnesota was also 12th in wRC+ (109) with a 20.7 K% in the previous 14 days.

Nevertheless, Sale is a monster, and the betting info is stellar. According to FanGraphs, in Sale's previous five starts spanning 30.1 innings, he's had a 2.37 ERA, 2.49 xFIP, 2.85 SIERA, 1.38 WHIP, 6.3 BB%, 32.8 K%, 34.3 CSW%, 85 Stuff+, 105 Location+, 105 Pitching+ and three quality starts. So, the Braves are -148, and the game's total is 7.5 runs.

Freddy Peralta (MIL) vs. SF
Freddy Peralta has pitched well at home. In 29 starts spanning 162.1 innings at home since last year, Peralta has had a 3.83 ERA, 3.33 xFIP, 1.04 WHIP, 7.0 BB%, 31.9 K% and 13 quality starts. His matchup and betting info are also DFS-friendly.

The Giants are tied for 21st in wRC+ (94) with a 22.7 K% versus righties and 13th in wRC+ (98) with a 24.9 K% on the road this season. San Francisco was also tied for 19th in wRC+ (95) with a 27.5 K% in the previous 14 days. Thus, the Brewers are -165, and the game's total is 7.5 runs.

Jack Leiter (TEX) at CWS

Jack Leiter had a rough first crack at the majors. Yet, he's getting a second shot at an optimal time. In Leiter's past nine starts spanning 42.0 innings in Triple-A, he's had a 2.57 ERA, 3.37 FIP, 1.24 WHIP, 10.0 BB% and 35.0 K%. The rookie also couldn't have a softer matchup tonight.

The White Sox are dead last in wRC+ (75) with a 23.8 K% versus righties and dead last in wRC+ (77) with a 22.3 K% at home this season. Chicago was also 29th in wRC+ (65) with a 23.4 K% in the previous 14 days. Finally, the Rangers are -185, and the game's total is 9.0 runs.

Severino has also allowed a .363 wOBA on the road since last season. The Diamondbacks are equipped to hammer Severino. Arizona is tied for fifth in wRC+ (112) versus righties and tied for fifth in wRC+ (116) at home. They were also tied for fourth in wRC+ (120) in the previous 14 days.

• Gunnar Henderson has hit 33 homers and stolen 15 bases with 102 runs, 78 RBIs, a .369 OBP, .261 ISO and 158 wRC+ in 591 plate appearances this year.
• Since 2022, Joc Pederson has had a .369 OBP, .238 ISO and 141 wRC+ against righties.
• Adrian Del Castillo had a monstrous season in Triple-A and hasn't skipped a beat in his exposure to the majors. In 50 plate appearances for the Diamondbacks, he's hit three homers and stolen one base with a .420 OBP, .250 ISO and 180 wRC+.

• Ramon Urias is on fire, hitting six homers with a .349 OBP, .288 ISO and 155 wRC+ in his previous 83 plate appearances.
• Jackson Holliday is cheap left-handed exposure to Buehler, and after faceplanting in his first taste of the majors, he's been approximately average in his second opportunity.

Luis Severino: 26.5 Fantasy Points - Higher (Underdog)

In addition to getting crushed on the road, Severino is in a funk. In the righty's previous five starts lasting 27.0 innings, he's had a 5.00 ERA, 3.89 xFIP, 3.92 SIERA and 1.46 WHIP. Severino's ERA estimators suggest he's been unlucky, but the Diamondbacks are a dreadful matchup for turning his luck around.

Mark Vientos: 1.5 Total Bases - Higher (Sleeper) (1.93x)

Mark Vientos: 1.5 Total Bases - Higher (Underdog) (Scorcher 1.08x)

In 214 career plate appearances, Mark Vientos has hit 14 doubles, one triple and nine homers with a .280 batting average, .495 slugging and .215 ISO. The slugging third baseman is also in good form. In his previous 106 plate appearances and 25 games (24 starts), Vientos has hit eight doubles and seven homers with a .265 batting average, .561 slugging and .296 ISO. Vientos has also exceeded 1.5 total bases in five of his past seven games and has a plus matchup tonight. Eduardo Rodriguez has allowed seven doubles, two homers, a .314 batting average and .569 slugging to 55 righties this season.

Gunnar Henderson: 1.5 Total Bases - Higher (Underdog) (Scorcher 1.13x)

In 963 career plate appearances righties, Henderson has hit 49 doubles, 11 triples and 54 homers with a .282 batting average, .552 slugging and .270 ISO. Henderson's excellence against righties meshes perfectly with Buehler's ineptitude against lefties. Buehler has permitted six doubles, two triples, five homers, a .372 batting average and .638 slugging to 105 lefties this season.
