Monday’s Starting Pitcher Rankings
Bryce Miller (SEA) vs. TB
Bryce Miller is a handful at home. According to FanGraphs, in 27 starts spanning 151.1 innings at home since last year, Miller has had a 2.85 ERA, 3.88 xFIP, 5.7 BB% and 25.5 K%. The young righty should cruise in a cushy matchup tonight.
The Rays are 22nd in wRC+ (93) with a 24.3 K% versus righties and tied for 14th in wRC+ (97) with a 25.0 K% on the road this season. Tampa Bay was also 28th in wRC+ (73) with a 25.9 K% in the previous 14 days. Because Miller is opposing another talented young pitcher, the Mariners are only -120, and the game's total is a pitcher-friendly 7.0 runs.
Bailey Ober (MIN) vs. ATL
Bailey Ober is on a roll. In his last five starts totaling 33.0 innings, Ober has had a 1.91 ERA, 3.93 xFIP, 3.64 SIERA, 0.76 WHIP, 7.1 BB%, 27.8 K%, 29.3 CSW%, 90 Stuff+, 101 Location+ and 98 Pitching+. Sure, Ober's ERA estimators weren't as impressive as his sparkling ERA. Still, Ober's underlying data was rocks-solid.
Ober's matchup is a mixed bag. The Braves are tied for 19th in wRC+ (95) with a 24.5 K% versus righties and 16th in wRC+ (96) with a 23.6 K% on the road this year. Sadly, Atlanta was tied for ninth in wRC+ (112) with a 22.4 K% in the previous 14 days. So, the Twins are -110, and the game's total is 8.0 runs.
Ryan Pepiot (TB) at SEA
Ryan Pepiot was the young pitcher I alluded to in Miller's write-up. In Pepiot's previous four starts spanning 23.0 innings, he's had a 1.17 ERA, 3.77 xFIP, 3.69 SIERA, 0.87 WHIP, 5.6 BB% and 23.3 K%. The young righty has also had two quality starts in his past two turns. Pepiot should maintain his momentum tonight.
The Mariners are tied for 15th in wRC+ (98) with a 28.1 K% versus righties and tied for 20th in wRC+ (96) with a 29.3 K% at home this year. Seattle was also 24th in wRC+ (89) with a 27.9 K% in the previous 14 days. Finally, the Rays are slight underdogs (+102), but the game's total is only 7.0 runs.
Suggested Lineup Stacks
The Cardinals have roughly an average offense. They're tied for 12th in wRC+ (102) versus righties and tied for 15th in wRC+ (102) at home this season. St. Louis was tied for 17th in wRC+ (96) in the previous 14 days. Nevertheless, they should look like an extraordinary offense in a mouthwatering matchup tonight. The Padres are summoning Randy Vasquez from the minors, and he's had a 4.63 ERA, 5.93 xERA and 4.87 SIERA in 17 starts this season. Finally, St. Louis's lefties are the most exciting stacking options because Vasquez has coughed up a .432 wOBA to 160 lefties this season.
