Wednesday’s Starting Pitcher Rankings
George Kirby (SEA) vs. DET
George Kirby is a borderline ace. According to FanGraphs, in his previous five starts spanning 30.1 innings, Kirby has had a 2.08 ERA, 3.32 xFIP, 3.45 SIERA, 1.05 WHIP, 4.1 BB%, 24.4 K%, 26.9 CSW%, 109 Stuff+, 107 Location+ and 110 Pitching+. In addition, in 25 starts at home since last year, Kirby has had a 2.63 ERA, 3.31 xFIP, 0.90 WHIP, 2.8 BB%, 27.1 K% and 19 quality starts in 154.0 innings.
Kirby should shove it down Detroit's throat tonight. The Tigers are tied for 24th in wRC+ (90) with a 23.6 K% versus righties and tied for 26th in wRC+ (85) with a 24.8 K% on the road this year. They've also faceplanted since the All-Star break, ranking 29th in wRC+ (70) with a 23.1 K%. So, even though Tarik Skubal is starting for the Tigers, the Mariners are -135, and the game's total is 6.5 runs.
Cole Ragans (KC) vs. BOS
Cole Ragans has a ceiling-friendly matchup tonight. Unfortunately, the Red Sox also have a potent offense. This year, they're 11th in wRC+ (109) versus lefties and second in wRC+ (118) on the road. However, they have a 28.1 K% versus southpaws and 24.5 K% on the road.
Thankfully, Ragans is talented, and the betting info is favorable. In the lefty's past four starts spanning 24.1 innings, he's had a 3.70 ERA, 3.95 xFIP, 3.86 SIERA, 1.15 WHIP, 8.1 BB%, 25.3 K%, 26.6 CSW%, 103 Stuff+, 102 Location+ and 106 Pitching+. Finally, the Royals are -155, and the game's total is 8.5 runs.
Suggested Lineup Stacks
The Mets didn't explode in the first game of the series at Coors Field on Tuesday night. They have another golden opportunity to erupt tonight. Ryan Feltner has had a 6.14 ERA in 48.1 innings at home this year and a 6.73 ERA in 108.1 innings at home since reaching the majors in 2021. Colorado's bullpen is also the worst in MLB. Thus, the Mets have a robust implied total tonight, and while they'll likely be a chalky stack, they're the most appealing offense on the slate.
- Road (Rogers Centre)
- Game Total/Moneyline: 9.5 Runs/BAL -155
The Orioles are second in wRC+ (118) versus righties and third in wRC+ (117) on the road this year. They've also kicked it up to a 135 wRC+ since the All-Star break. Sadly, they let gamers down last night. They have a much softer matchup tonight. In 18 appearances (four starts) totaling 44.2 innings this year, Bowden Francis has had a 5.64 ERA and 5.43 xERA. The 28-year-old righty has also allowed a .318 wOBA to 94 lefties and a .405 wOBA to 103 righties this season.
Core Studs
- Francisco Lindor has stuffed the stat sheet this year, hitting 22 homers with 23 stolen bases, a .329 OBP, .203 ISO and 125 wRC+ in 516 plate appearances.
- Since 2022, Brandon Nimmo has had a .364 OBP, .188 ISO and 131 wRC+ against right-handed pitching.
- Jeff McNeil is on fire. In his past 84 plate appearances, he's hit five homers with a .381 OBP, .320 ISO and 185 wRC+.
Value Plays/Punts
- Jackson Holliday has been tearing the cover off the ball since rejoining the Orioles. In 23 plate appearances since he was recalled from Triple-A, he's hit three homers with a .478 OBP, .500 ISO and 279 wRC+.
- Coby Mayo had a day off yesterday and hasn't hit the ground running in his first taste of the majors. Nevertheless, in 341 plate appearances in Triple-A this year, Mayo has hit 20 homers and stolen four bases with a .375 OBP, .285 ISO and 142 wRC+.
- In 180 career plate appearances against lefties at home, Alejandro Kirk has had a .350 OBP, .164 ISO and 121 wRC+.

Check out our best picks on the MLB Underdog Cheat Sheet
Anthony Santander: 1.5 Total Bases - Higher (Underdog)/More (PrizePicks)
Anthony Santander has had a .243 batting average, .475 slugging and .232 ISO in 1,300 plate appearances against righties since 2022. The switch-hitting outfielder is also scalding hot. In his past 106 plate appearances, he's hit three doubles, one triple and nine homers with a .281 batting average, .653 slugging and .320 ISO.
Brandon Nimmo: 2.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs - Higher/More
The Mets have a massive implied total tonight, and Brandon Nimmo is in a table-setter position where he can tally hits, runs and RBIs. The left-handed-hitting outfielder has had a .365 OBP, .189 ISO and 132 wRC+ against righties since 2022, and Feltner has coughed up a .357 wOBA to 268 lefties this season.
Francisco Lindor: 2.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs - Higher/More
Lindor should also get in on the run-production fun, and his over correlates with Nimmo's since the switch-hitting shortstop is New York's leadoff hitter, and Nimmo bats second. In addition to Lindor's stellar full-season stats, he's on fire. In his last 25 games and 117 plate appearances, he's had a .263 batting average, .485 slugging, .222 ISO, 15 runs and 19 RBIs.
